Elaxi Dice

Chapter 07

Despite being in a stranger's body, she quickly adjusted to the lifestyle the second day she entered her body. Luckily this child’s body wasn’t much different from hers which worries her. She was in her mid-thirties so it was quite understandable why she isn't as strong as she was in the past but this is a girl who is still growing. She wasn’t even able to lift up a tea table.

Maybe she needs to consider strengthening this body if the original Aria ever decides to come back. The only thing she still needs to get the hang of and able to control is the memories of the future and the past that the original soul, the client Aria, transplanted into her.

It's been a few weeks now since she's been in this body. Two things she gained while she continues her way through this lifestyle are being able to adjust to her environment and following up on her schedules. Despite encountering new things, she doesn’t express her disbelief and goes along.

'The only thing that is lacking is the presence of any of my siblings' souls...'

Arianna couldn't help but clench her fist in frustration. She needs to remain calm. After all, she knows that patience brings success. Despite the difficulty she's facing right now due to her past identity as a slave, she can at least somehow fulfill the client's desire to have her own time to go searching for any possibilities of familiar faces of her younger siblings.

"Hey! Get your hands moving, brat!"

...And the difference with the honorifics and attitude that the workers address her...

"Hah... Yes!"

She sighs, exhaustion showing onher face. Her auburn eyes looking down at the duster droopy, grabbing a hold of the duster. She quickly turns away from the fuming woman behind her and continues to dust the vases along with the windows which are unnaturally covered in so much dust. Hearing the whispers between the maids and attendants, she halts and perks her ears.

"Did you hear? The master is finally coming out from his confinement and the first thing he ordered was to prepare him a carriage!"

"Oh my! Won't he get himself in trouble if he forces himself up though?"

"...It's probably about that group of people..."

Hearing one of the maid’s muttering with suspicion, they stare at her in puzzlement. The maid in question nervously bites her nails as she stares intensely outside of the window.

"I've been hearing this lately... But it seems he's been hanging out with a prince who isn’t the crown prince causing a stir between the nobles and factions."

She turns back and stares at every person's eyes in her group with a dull gaze. The younger one of the group couldn't help but shiver at the sudden eerie atmosphere that the other four are giving off after the maid's words, clinging to a platinum-haired maid who was clenching her fist against her chest.

"If that's true... then I've also heard the same..."

"...Yeah, now I'm worried about what will come of us!"

"What if..."

Arianna hurriedly bumps into one of the maids of the group, making her clamp her mouth shut and turn around to the culprit in horror. When she found out it was only Arianna, she breathed out in relief before venting her anger on her until a husky voice of an elder spoke.

"What are you doing huddling around like that and not doing your work?!"

The seven turned around in horror, panic, or indifference to the angry old butler who was glaring at them while clenching onto his pocket watch. They hurriedly bowed down in apology before scrambling away to their designed jobs.

As Arianna walks back for more instructions with her duster, she smiled in relief having successfully not had those bunch of fools talking behind the master's back. If they were to be caught, she is sure that any type of nobles won't forgive them as it is against their loyalty, and will be considered traitors.

"Or probably this world is different from mine..."

She muttered silently. But soon she waves that thought with a shrug and continues her busy day. But with all the information she gained, she might be pretty busy and maybe she might get the chance to finally meet the duke.

———

"Alrighty..."

She quickly wraps her arms around with white cloth before straightening her white sleeves down. There have been strange marks growing on her arms and she didn't like it one bit. According to her memory, GeGe did mention that they were markings that slave traders mark on their “products.” But the fact that they are growing…

As long as she is covering them, no one will find out. She exhaled before turning around to find her roommate still asleep. Arianna approaches the windows and leans on the sill as she gazes outside.

'There seem to be more guards than usual...'

And oddly enough two knights were walking around the manor of the mansion.

"...What has happened?"

She couldn't help but grit her teeth. No. This will not hold her back just because of the increase in security. And based on the little information she got from the shattered memories that were given to her, no such thing happened like this.

"After all, what's best to successfully fulfill the mission is based on knowing fully of the world's structure..."

She mutters, clenching her hands against the windowsill. She has GeGe for insurance in case she encountered a problem she couldn’t escape. She will bet her trust on that small mysterious being to save her.

'Get a hold of yourself, Arianna! Just remember the way he used to teach you when you were struggling to regain your power...'

Young Arianna shivered in her wet clothes in tears. She stripped her wet coat off of her, feeling helpless at the situation she is in and the inability to save her little sister who was always by her side to protect from harm. A rough hand slowly caressed her wet face in such a gentle manner that made her cry even more.

"There's nothing to worry about... Just remember, you may encounter many challenges and tough situations but that won't last as long as tough people last longer."

She looked up to see a closed eyed man smiling at her as he knelt on one knee. She felt heavy. All the responsibilities and the people that have been relying on her had been too much pressure. She would break down with every mistake she made. But this mistake was disastrous. And now her people that will face it are suffering under her greedy aunt's hands who managed to take complete control.

"I'm proud of who you are, for doing what you think is right. And always believe that I will be by your side no matter where you go."

"...I can't though..."

He held her hands tighter, giving her an encouraging smile. She couldn't help but smile back, finally stopping her tears that had been trailing down her cheeks. Knowing someone was on her side gave her a sense of reassurance.

How happy she is to have her beloved fiancé by her side during a difficult time, unlike the other ladies that have complaints about their own.

"Don't be discouraged as there are many mysteries and locks that require someone who has the key to free and unlock what's behind them."

She adjusts her black hood and jumps down from the window after seeing the coast was clear. She carefully landed atop a tall tree that was nearby and slid down, landing on the fresh grass.

Luckily It isn't the cold or hot season as the cool wind blew past her. She favored the nighttime as she can blend in with the shadow despite the trouble in covering her eyes as they normally glow when it's dark. She never knew that her race's proud trait which is the color of their eyes that grant them their power.

The Elaxi.
