Emotionless Swordsmanship Genius

Chapter 30

Chapter 30: The Bloody Battle on the Main Road (1)

As Karon had predicted, Iron Hammer Megamon let out a wail of despair when he saw his brother, Bembo, return as a corpse.

Bembo’s arms had been severed, and according to several witnesses near the tavern, the culprit was Lekki, a subordinate of Hinjo.

However, Lekki had also been found dead, leaving no one to exact revenge on or hold accountable. Naturally, the desire for vengeance extended to the entire Hinjo faction.

That night, Megamon summoned and armed all his subordinates, numbering nearly a hundred.

Meanwhile, the Hinjo faction also learned that Megamon was gathering his forces, and Hinjo, mourning the loss of his cherished subordinate Lekki, armed himself with his twin swords.

The next morning, fog covered the streets.

Although the sun was slowly rising, the darkness of the surroundings remained untouched by the light.

The two gangs met at the central main road of Bela, splitting the east and west.

The streets were deserted except for the gang members. Word of the confrontation had already spread throughout the city, and everyone had fled in fear.

Hinjo’s gang from the east wore blue armbands, wielding sleek weapons such as swords and spears. In contrast, Megamon’s gang from the west donned red bandanas and carried massive weapons like greatswords and hammers.

If Hinjo’s gang was quick and nimble, Megamon’s gang was muscular and relied on brute strength.

The two leaders stepped out from their respective groups to face each other.

Hinjo, true to his nickname, wielded twin swords, while Megamon rested a massive hammer on his shoulder.

Despite the short distance, the thick fog obscured their vision, making everything appear hazy.

“You’ve really gone and done it, haven’t you?” Megamon growled first, his voice dripping with murderous intent. On the other hand, a bitter smile curled at the edge of Hinjo’s lips.

“Would you believe me if I said it wasn’t my doing?”

“If you die here, I’ll believe you.”

At Megamon’s resolute words, Hinjo shook his head.

“It’s unfortunate that Bembo died, but I’m a victim too. I lost a valued subordinate.”

“Don’t you dare speak my brother’s name with that filthy mouth!” Megamon roared, veins bulging on his forehead. His mind was already consumed by rage and the desire for revenge.

Hinjo, sensing this, furrowed his brow.

“There’s no reasoning with you.”

“Same goes for both of us. Today, this tiresome fight ends!”

“Hmph, you brute! All you know how to do is flaunt your strength.”

Hinjo was no longer willing to back down. If there was no avoiding it, he had to respond with force. Losing the initiative meant losing the battle.

“Better that than acting like some prancing woman! Crush them!” Megamon roared.

“Attack!” Hinjo shouted at the same time.

“Waaahhh!”

“Kill them!!”

Both gangs charged at each other, roaring as they rushed forward.

The sight of Megamon’s gang charging with their enormous weapons was reminiscent of a herd of bulls, while Hinjo’s gang moved swiftly, like a pack of wolves.

Clang! Clang!

The melee began almost immediately. As blows were exchanged, the street transformed into a chaotic battlefield in an instant.

Megamon’s gang, with their brute strength and wild movements, pushed Hinjo’s forces back.

However, Hinjo’s gang fought back with agile movements, dodging attacks and exploiting openings to strike.

Where Megamon’s gang had power, Hinjo’s gang had speed and skill.

The battle raged fiercely within the thick fog, making it impossible to see what lay ahead.

The eerie stillness of the morning contrasted sharply with the intense violence of the fight. The surreal atmosphere felt almost disconnected from the deadly battle taking place.

From a distance, it might have looked like a mere skirmish.

But up close, the overwhelming killing intent and the sight of blood being spilled made it a bone-chilling slaughter.

Clang! Clang!

Swish!

Gah!

The sounds of weapons clashing, slicing through the air, and the cries and screams of the gang members echoed through the fog-shrouded streets.

The main road was now alight with chaos, fury, and bloodshed. At the center of it all, Megamon and Hinjo clashed violently.

“Hmph! Where do you think you’re going?” Megamon growled.

Whoosh!

Clang!

When Hinjo thrust forward with his twin swords, Megamon swung his hammer down, neutralizing the attack.

While Megamon appeared to be holding his own on the surface, as time passed, his strength began to wane.

Physically, Megamon was far superior, but the toll of the battle was wearing him down.

Hinjo’s hit-and-run tactics, using his quick movements to dodge and strike, were gradually taking effect.

The problem was that Megamon’s subordinates were slowly overwhelming Hinjo’s men.

If things continued this way, Hinjo would eventually be surrounded and attacked from all sides. He knew he couldn’t relax just yet.

Meanwhile, perched on the top of a distant tower, Karon gazed down at the scene with an indifferent expression.

Although the distance was considerable and the fog made the battle appear blurry, Karon paid no mind.

He could easily see how many people were being killed and which side was gaining the upper hand.

However, he didn’t move hastily. It was as if he were waiting for something, watching the gang war unfold with a detached calm, like a statue.

Then, he widened his view to scan the area around the battlefield. The city’s security forces were arriving, slowly forming a large circle around the main road that had become the battleground.

They were preparing for any potential danger.

As Karon had predicted, Shong’s mission seemed to be on the verge of succeeding with ease.

Karon turned his gaze back to the main road, his eyes narrowing.

The balance of power was shifting. Megamon’s gang was slowly but surely gaining the upper hand against Hinjo’s forces.

The decisive factor in the battle was the difference in endurance. While Megamon’s forces kept fighting despite their injuries, Hinjo’s forces would drop with a single blow.

At that moment, Karon raised his hand. In his grasp were both a red bandana and a blue ribbon.

He tucked the red bandana into his coat and tied the blue ribbon around his arm.

Then, he leaped from the spire.

Though the height was considerable, he landed lightly on the rooftop and swiftly moved towards the street where the gangs were battling, jumping from roof to roof.

His movements were cat-like in agility and tiger-like in speed. In his hand, a black blade had already appeared.

Without hesitation, Karon descended from the roof, landing directly on two of Megamon’s burly subordinates who were pushing back Hinjo’s men.

He kicked one, then immediately plunged his black blade into the heart of the other.

Thud! Shunk!

“Urgh!”

In a flash, Karon had taken down two men. One of Hinjo’s gang members, who had been accidentally helped, sighed in relief as he noticed the blue ribbon tied around Karon’s arm.

“Phew! Thanks. But who are you…?”

Slish!

Karon slit the man’s throat without a second thought and quickly moved to his next target.

Another member of Hinjo’s gang had collapsed to the ground after failing to block a flail. As Megamon’s subordinate swung the flail for a finishing blow, a dark crimson blur sliced through the chain connecting the flail.

Snap!

The chain was cleanly severed, sending the flail flying through the air, where it struck another of Megamon’s men in the back of the head.

“What the…?”

The Megamon subordinate looked at the smooth cut on the chain, confused.

Hinjo’s subordinate, who had braced himself for the flail’s impact, wore the same baffled expression.

Shunk!

“Gah!”

A black blade pierced through the chest of the Megamon subordinate. Karon, who had approached from behind, had driven the blade through his back.

Blood flowed down the sword, as Megamon’s man died with a look of disbelief. He hadn’t even sensed Karon’s presence until it was too late.

Thud!

The large man collapsed, and Hinjo’s remaining subordinate finally saw Karon, noticing the same blue ribbon tied around his arm. However, the face was unfamiliar.

“Th-thanks. But which district are you from…?”

Slish!

Again, Karon slit the man’s throat and moved to his next target.

As Karon took out two of Megamon’s men, he also made sure to eliminate one of Hinjo’s with each kill.

With time, the number of gang members dwindled rapidly. The thick fog, which hindered the vision of most, played into Karon’s advantage.

His heightened senses made the fog irrelevant.

Unaware of this, Megamon and Hinjo were still engaged in their fierce duel in the center of the road.

Both men were covered in cuts, breathing heavily as exhaustion set in.

“W-wait!” Hinjo was the first to notice something was off. He quickly jumped back and shouted desperately.

But Megamon, still seething with anger, raised his hammer.

“What’s your trick now?!”

“Just stop and listen! Doesn’t something feel wrong?”

“What?”

“It’s too quiet, you idiot! Look around you!”

Hinjo’s frantic shouting made Megamon lower his hammer and take in his surroundings.

The warm sunlight had started to burn off the fog, revealing the grim scene around them.

Bodies from both gangs littered the ground, their blood soaking into the streets.

“What…? Are they all dead?”

“This is insane…”

Hinjo gritted his teeth, muttering under his breath.

As the two leaders stared in disbelief, a figure emerged from the dissipating fog, walking towards them slowly.

Like a ghost, the figure moved silently, with dark crimson energy wafting from his body.

His eyes glowed with a deep red light, and his expressionless face radiated an eerie coldness.

Blood dripped from the black sword he carried.

“Wh-who are you?!” Hinjo shouted, panic evident in his voice.

Karon continued to approach, tilting his head curiously.

“Why is it that people always want to know who I am?”

Everyone who had encountered him had asked the same question. But the important question wasn’t “who” — it was “why.” At that moment, Megamon seemed to realize something and muttered.

“My subordinates… all of them… you killed them, didn’t you?”

“That’s right,” Karon answered plainly, his voice devoid of emotion. Megamon’s eyes twitched in anger and disbelief as he asked again.

“Was it you who orchestrated everything that happened yesterday too?”

“And if it was?” Karon replied nonchalantly.

“Hah!”

Megamon let out a defeated sigh. He couldn’t believe he had been played by this young man the entire time.

He had survived in a lawless zone where deceit and schemes ran rampant, yet everything he had built had crumbled in an instant because of this one man.

Megamon squeezed his eyes shut, regretting his reckless actions.

“What?! You’re the one who killed my subordinates?” Hinjo, enraged, gripped his twin swords tightly, his hands trembling.

With nothing left to lose, he launched a surprise attack at Karon, slashing both swords towards him.

“Die, you bastard!”

But his blades only cut through Karon’s afterimage—he had already appeared at Hinjo’s side.

“Argh!”

Hinjo, using the last of his strength, swung his sword towards Karon’s neck.

But once again, he struck nothing but air. He couldn’t even track Karon’s movements. Perhaps he was too exhausted from his earlier fight with Megamon.

Hinjo, flailing madly as he swung his swords, no longer resembled the leader of a gang. He looked pitiful—especially now, without any subordinates left.

Shunk!

“Gah!”

Karon’s black blade pierced through Hinjo’s abdomen.

Slish!

As Karon withdrew the sword, Hinjo clutched his stomach and collapsed forward, dead.

Now, only Megamon and Karon remained.

Klang! Klang!

Karon, dragging his black sword, slowly approached Megamon.

With a heavy expression, Megamon placed his hammer on the ground and spoke with great difficulty.

“I don’t know what you want, but just say the word. If it’s something I can do, I’ll do it. If you want power over this place, I can help you take it. Are you working for someone? If it’s money you want, I’ll give you as much as you need. If that’s still not enough, I’ll…”

“There’s no point in stalling,” Karon interrupted, his cold voice cutting off Megamon’s plea.

Megamon’s confused expression deepened as Karon continued.

“If you’re waiting for the Blue Raven members to show up, you can forget it. I killed them last night.”

Megamon’s eyes widened in shock, his pupils shaking as the full realization hit him.
