Emperor of Arcane

Chapter 61 Reclaiming Wasteland

A long water channel leads from the Silver Moon River. {What? You don’t know yet|Read COM, read the chapters without mistakes|Hurry up and Google them}

Following the gentle slope of the terrain, it flows into a busy wilderness.

On both sides of the canal, towering reeds were knocked down, and the roots connected to the ground were dug up and pulled out with sharp hoes.

Although there are tenacious fine roots remaining in the ground, it won't be long before they tenaciously grow and sprout again, becoming the weeds that farmers hate most.

But today's workers don't care. They dig out a ditch with their hoes, pile up the excavated soil, and form a circle of earth embankments. The area in the circle is exactly one acre.

Then they continued to excavate to the inside and outside of the embankment, cutting down and clearing patches of reeds and weeds.

They did not clear all the reeds and weeds in the enclosed acre of land. That would be too much work.

"Everyone should bring a bucket of water. Once there are sparks floating out, put them out in time."

Following an order from an intermediate farmer, more than 10 lit torches flew into the reeds.

The scattered sparks suddenly turned into a rising fire house, emitting light and heat wantonly, swallowing the dry reeds around it.

Whoops!

Crackling!

The burning sound of the flames illuminated the face of the intermediate farmer who was over 60 years old. Feeling the warmth that he had not touched for a long time, a bright smile bloomed on his wrinkled face.

He suddenly remembered something, then turned to look at another stretch of endless wilderness, turned to Captain Sean and asked again:

"There are 100 people in a team. Our goal this year is 2,500 acres? If it exceeds 2,500 acres, 30% of the excess area will be distributed among everyone?"

Captain Sean looked at the flames with a little bit of expectation and enthusiasm, and recited the rules he had written down to him:

"That's right, you can get 10% of the excess area alone."

"Of course, these are permanent leasehold rights, and the land ultimately belongs to the lord."

"However, these lands can be passed down from generation to generation, and the tax rate is constant at 20%."

The old man shook his hand nonchalantly, his originally cloudy eyes were full of brightness, and he said in an excited and expectant tone:

"Of course, the land ownership must belong to the lord..."

"Then what if...we over-cultivated 1,000 acres of wasteland?"

His brows were raised slightly, and Captain Sean could feel the expectation in his tone.

There was no impatience, because his father asked him this question three times and answered with a smile:

“Even if you cultivate more than 2,000 additional acres, you still get 10% of the land, which is 200 acres.”

"The top three of all land reclamation teams will receive additional rewards. I heard that the third place will receive 100 acres of land..."

His eyes widened subconsciously, and the old farmer immediately turned around and shouted in a loud voice:

"Why are you still standing there? Others continue to cultivate the next acre. If we don't finish 10 acres today, don't even think about leaving!"

Captain Sean, who was about to say a few words of encouragement, froze on the spot. The smile on his face became brighter and he led the soldiers to continue patrolling.

Scenes like this are constantly happening on the side of the Silver Moon River near Bay Village.

A pair of hidden eyes were secretly watching these changes, causing a burst of hidden noise, and then quickly calmed down.

Dark forest.

Lyon led 10 soldiers to patrol around the lumber factory under construction.

He looked at the wooden wall that was gradually being erected, and also saw the kobold's increasingly strong and pleasing body.

Guard teams of lumberjacks, select trees to cut down, and clear out the incoming wild beasts.

Suddenly, a burst of chirping shouts came from the distance. Leon heard the kobold's shouts and immediately approached him.

Twenty or thirty strong jackals were chasing thirty or forty kobolds.

Seeing the thin bodies of those kobolds, Leon immediately realized that they were not his own kobolds. While slowing down, he turned around and whispered to his two teammates:

"Go and inform the lord quickly."

There was no thought of being a hero at all. On the first day when Lyon started to lead the team independently, Old John had already told him:

"Your mission is to protect the safety of all the people in Bay Village and the soldiers under your command, and bring them back safely. This is more important than the bounty from victory in the battle."

Ten minutes later, after receiving the news, Matthew put down the spell scroll in his hand and temporarily interrupted the process of learning spells.

He rubbed his swollen brows, opened the carriage door and took a long breath:

"That's right. Let's clean up the monsters around us and just relax."

Learning spells can gain experience, and the same goes for cleaning up monsters. Only by combining work and rest can you maintain a happy mood.

Yaya, who was sleeping soundly, subconsciously opened his eyes. When he heard that a fight was about to begin, he instantly became more energetic.

Gold Tooth and Silver Tooth led the way, and hundreds of kobolds under their leadership seemed to have high morale.

Knight Angela led the soldiers in front, running briskly, vaguely revealing a tacit understanding of unity.

Seeing that the soldiers had become much stronger and their strength and physique had increased by one or two points, Matthew was quite satisfied with this and was looking forward to the next battle.

If you want to bring out the full effect of training, proper fighting is also essential.

When they arrived at the location, Leon immediately came up to them and led the troops eastward. About five minutes later, they stopped in front of a large pile of rocks.

The cry of "Jili Gua La" came, almost causing the kobolds to echo in unison.

Thanks to Jin Ya and Yin Ya's excellent stick education, they were silenced by scolding them.

Yaya ran up to the treetops and looked at the chaotic battlefield below.

Matthew saw a rather interesting scene through her vision:

Hundreds of strong jackals were besieging the kobold lair, and the kobolds crowded at the entrance of the cave resisted bravely.

Hundreds of kobold corpses had fallen on the ground, as well as more than 10 bloody jackals.

Rabbits bite people when they are anxious, not to mention sharp-toothed kobolds.

Facing the somewhat crazy kobolds, the jackals had suffered a small loss just now.

A jackal wearing gray and black robes, holding a dark and shiny wooden staff, howled with a sharp and weird voice.

Faint mana fluctuations spread, and the howls of jackals suddenly sounded.

"Level 0 spell-Phantom Sound!"

It turns out to be a jackal watcher who can cast spells!

Moreover, this Jackal Watcher also knows "tactics". Although it is crude, it also represents a special possibility.

The grinning kobolds were obviously frightened, and their morale continued to drop.

Matthew's breathing became slightly heavier. He saw in this jackal watchman a feat that could be called a magical skill!

Advanced Feat-Fast Casting!
