Chapter 3: Why Does Evolving Involve War?
*Erika’s POV*
A few days after we met Kaito, it was decided that it was now time for me to finally evolve. Which is something that I am greatly excited for!
I had all of the Monster Cores ready. As to be safe, we went to Victoria’s old dimension. We are back at her castle and I have my wives surrounding me.
Erika: “You know, it will be hard to eat all of these Monster Cores with you all staring at me…” I say with a sigh.
Victoria: “Oh, come on! We all want to witness this. It will literally be the first time anyone has ever seen someone evolve!” Victoria exclaimed.
Erika: “What about Avicia?” I ask with a head tilt.
Sofiel: “You really have to bring her up?” Sofiel asked with a sigh.
Erika: “Sorry, sorry. I’ll just eat the Cores now like a good little girl.” I reply with a nervous giggle.
Eating the Monster Cores will probably be the most fun part of the experience. Like always, they tasted amazing. And each one tasted different as well. I would ask Nadia to put some in my food but, I would be worried if someone else accidentally ate it.
Which, you know, would kill them… I won't ask, at least not until everyone is using the new System version.
Once I finished eating them all, I got a notification on my phone. Saying that I was now able to evolve. It gave me a prompt asking if I did or did not want to evolve.
Erika: “Well, I can evolve now. Just in case I end up being gone for a while, I love you all!” I say with a smile before clicking the confirm button on the prompt.
In that instant, I felt my body get extremely hot, and not in a sexual way. It was like I had a cold or something. I quickly passed out after feeling hot for a few seconds.
Currently, it was like I was back in that void again. Except, it was a white and warm void. Rather than a dark and cold one.
How long was I in this void? It felt like a very long time, and not that long at all as well. What a contradiction...
Unlike the dark void, I had complete control over this environment. As such, I tailored it to my liking. If I was going to be a prisoner, I will at least be a well comforted one.
When I finally woke up, I was in some sort of shell. Am I a chicken or something? Ah, it was more like a crystal rather than a shell. I was going to break it but, I figured that I should at least look at my Status.
I took my phone out of my inventory, which lit up the crystal shell thingy, and looked at my Status for the first time in a while.

Wow… my Stat’s increased even though I didn’t invest any Stat Points… How useful! I should evolve more often! Though, the last time I did, this didn’t happen. Maybe because of the update?
I used my phone to take a selfie. Since I was curious on rather or not I looked any different. I looked completely the same... except I had a halo above my head! What's more, it was a gaming halo!
Why a gaming halo? Because it randomly switched between every color of the rainbow. I was wondering why there was a faint glow in this egg. Turns out, it was this cool halo. I didn't get a skill for it but, I figured out that I just make it appear and disappear whenever I want. I, of course, set it to not appear. It's literally painting a target on my back... I mean, my head?... Anyway, time to break out of this egg thingy!
Doing a nice windup, I punched the egg right in front of me. Blowing a huge chunk out of it. Ah, finally, light! My phone doesn’t count!
Stepping out of the egg, I could tell that it was a sphere but that was not important. What is important is that something really fucked up must have happened… The castle is completely destroyed. What the fuck did I miss? I hope my wives are okay…
Looking around, the place was a mess. Broken walls were everywhere, and some parts of the ceiling were completely gone as well.
Looking out at the city from one of the collapsed walls, I could see that it was similarly destroyed as well. With not much else to go on, I went to the bottom of the castle, and then went into the city.
The city was a mess as well. Destroyed buildings and mostly decomposed corpses littered the place. The whole city smelled like death.
From what I could see from my Status, I couldn’t have been evolving for more than a year. How did this place get destroyed in just that small amount of time? And why was I left unharmed when that shell was just left out in the open?
Questions upon questions… but no answers. Ah, right! I have a pocket Lilith!
Erika: “Lilith? What happened?” I ask in my head with a serious tone.
Lilith: “Oh? Are you awake, sleeping beauty?” Lilith jokingly said.
Erika: “Is this really the time to be making jokes?” I ask with a fed-up tone.
Lilith: “It’s a fine time to be making jokes! Everyone is safe, don’t worry about it.” Lilith said with a nonchalant tone.
Erika: “I worry.” I reply.
Lilith: “Look, after you started evolving, that dimension almost immediately got invaded by pretty much fucking everyone.” Lilith explained.
Erika: “What happened after they invaded?” I ask.
Lilith: “They tried to kill you. We quickly figured out that literally, no one could actually break that egg you were in. We found out because someone slipped by us and ended up making it to you. Someone very powerful. At that point, we were just risking our lives for no reason, so we fled back to our home dimension.” Lilith explained with a serious tone.
Erika: “So, I was left here by my wives? That makes me sad.” I said with a feigned sad tone.
Lilith: “Don’t be sad! That Outer Goddess of yours was the one who told us to do so. And she said that you would be fine. That dimension is completely destroyed because most of the invaders weren’t aware of your egg being impossible to crack, so they all waged war over you.” Lilith said.
Erika: “And what about now? It’s all quiet here.” I ask with a raised eyebrow.
Lilith: “They’re most likely still at war. Whatever group was defending their position near your egg, might be fighting someone right now.” Lilith replied.
Erika: “Maybe…” I say with a thinking pose.
Lilith: “Oh, right! Erika, do you remember that rogue Administrator that trapped Sachael?” Lilith asked with an excited tone.
Erika: “I do.” I reply.
Lilith: “He showed up in that dimension. And we finally killed his ass! Ah, you don’t realize how good it is to deal with that loose end.” Lilith said with a chuckle.
Erika: “I see. I’m glad that he was dealt with, and thanks for the explanation. Could I get Sofiel to help me leave now?” I ask.
Lilith: “Nope!” Lilith exclaimed.
Erika: “Why not?” I ask with a confused tone.
Lilith: “With the fear that they might invade our base dimension, we locked it off. No one can leave, or go to it at all. Please don’t be mad. That Outer Goddess told us that you could either take a few days to evolve or many years to do so.” Lilith replied with a remorseful tone.
Erika: “That sucks, but I understand. What do I do now?” I ask with a sigh.
Lilith: “Well, you can either stay there and fight a random group, or you can, you know, do your job.” Lilith said with a cheeky tone.
Erika: “Ah, good idea, pervert girl!” I exclaim.
Lilith: “No problem… wait, don’t call me that!” Lilith yelled.
Erika: “Call you what?” I ask with a head tilt.
Lilith: “…”
Erika: “…”
Lilith: “Anyway, you cheeky girl, while you were asleep, the Shop was added to the System. Either hunker down somewhere and used the shit out of it, since you were given infinite funds to spend on it, or do that in a different dimension. I won’t be able to talk with you anymore for a while, there is too much interference from our dimension being locked.” Lilith said.
Erika: “Wait! When can I come back?” I ask with a serious tone.
Lilith: “Sometime soon. They will eventually realize that they missed their chance, and then everyone will calm down again. At least until the next update is out. Goodbye, my dear wife!” Lilith said.
Erika: “Goodbye, I love you! Please tell the others that I said that I love them as well.” I say with a smile.
Lilith didn’t reply, so I have no idea if she heard my last message. She probably did, and was just being her usual cheeky self.
So… what should I do now? I could hop over to a different dimension but, that store is a little too tempting… The decision was made for me.
Why? Because a cute girl showed up out of nowhere, and tried to kill me with her sword. What luck!
I managed to not get hit by quickly taking my sword out and blocking her strike. This woman was crazy strong. If I didn’t evolve, I wouldn’t have been able to block her strike at all. Or maybe I could. I just wouldn't have been able to do so with such ease.
???: “Who are you?” She asked while looking at me.
Erika: “My name is Erika, you? Ah, right, I was in that egg thingy that you were all fighting over.” I explain calmly.
???: “I don’t believe you.” She said with a raised eyebrow.
Erika: “I mean, you can just go look at the egg. I broke out of it a few minutes ago.” I reply.
???: “Why would you answer me honestly?” She asked with a confused tone.
Erika: “Because, you’re a pretty cute girl. And regardless of your intentions, I can easily just leave whenever I want, since I am a Dark Savior with a Task Pact.” I answer honestly.
The woman was of the mature variety. She was also wearing a military uniform. Oddly, she had slightly dark orange hair that went down to her chest. Her eyes were the same color as her hair. Her breasts were pretty big, but that might just seem the case since her uniform looks to be pretty form fitting.
???: “You aren’t lying it seems… Dammit! Hey, walk with me, I want to look at that egg.” She said after putting away her sword.
She clearly didn’t have an inventory, since she just put her sword back into the sheath that she had attached to her left side.
Erika: “Sure. Though, there isn’t much to look at.” I say while following along with her after I made my sword disappear.
We just leisurely strolled back to the castle and walked back to the room where I decided to evolve in.
Once back to the egg, she got into it and looked around it. Not really sure what she was trying to find...
???: “It’s literally just a crystal egg…” She said with a sigh.
Erika: “So it seems.” I reply with a shrug.
???: “Hey, how the hell did this happen to you?” She asked with a curious tone.
Erika: “Unfortunately, that is a secret.” I answer.
???: “Tell me, please? I’ll tell you my name in exchange.” She offered.
Ah, I just can’t refuse such a cute girl. Damn my one weakness! Plus, I doubt that the Administrators will bother me over telling people about being a tester.
Erika: “I am a tester for a new update to the System. I just test out whatever new thing they add to it. One of the things that they added was the ability to evolve. Actually, it was a feature that I suggested.” I explain.
???: “Ah, that sounds extremely interesting! Oh, right. My name is Mika. I am just a humble researcher. These stupid fucks wanted to destroy the egg you were in, and probably kill you. I just wanted to research it so, I have been defending it, and as a byproduct, you.” Mika explained with a smile.
Erika: “Oh? A researcher? What kind of research do you do?” I ask with a curious tone.
Mika: “Nothing special. I just go around different dimensions and document everything I can find. By the way, will you not get in trouble for telling about you being a tester?” She asked with a worried tone.
Erika: “I don’t think so. Two of the Administrators are in bed with me.” I jokingly say.
Mika: “Ah, so you have blackmail on them?” She asked with a head tilt. Cute!
Erika: “No, I meant it literally. Two Administrators are my wives.” I reply with a chuckle.
Mika: “Oooo… interesting! Though, I won’t pry into your private life. Is there any new addition to the System?” She asked with a curious tone once again.
Erika: “Oh, right. They just added a store to it.” I answer.
Mika: “Cool! Have you looked at it yet?” She asks.
Erika: “I haven’t had the chance, I was about to, but that was before you attacked me.” I reply.
Mika: “Ah, sorry about that. This dimension is destroyed, let’s go back to my home base dimension. That is, if you don’t mind.” Mika said.
Erika: “Are you asking me out on a date?” I ask with a feigned shocked tone.
Mika: “Unfortunately not, for I am married. I can tell that you aren’t one to cheat so, all of the women you have married are surely in agreement with being in your harem. But my wife would kill me if I tried to get another lover.” Mika said with a sigh.
Erika: “That is unfortunate. Anyway, I’d be happy to go with you. I was actually given infinite points to spend in the store so, I just buy everything in it.” I reply.
With that, she excitedly grabbed my hand and whisked us off to her dimension.
Her dimension traveling ability is very similar to how Sofiel does it. So once the bright lights were gone, I could see that I was in a modern looking house. Oh look, this house comes with a cute girl pointing her handgun at my head. What fun!
Mika looked like she didn’t know what to say, so I had to say it for her.
Erika: “Look at my rings. I am married.” I explain calmly.
???: “And why did my wife bring you here?” She asked.
Erika: “I am a tester for the System. A new shop was added, and she wanted to see what it does with me.” I reply.
Mika: “Rie, she is telling the truth. I was just curious.” Mika said with an honest tone.
Rie: “And how will she get back to her dimension? You know as well as me that you can't travel to different dimensions one after the other without resting for a while first.” Rie asked after putting her gun away.
Erika: “It’s fine. I have a Task Pact, so I can just head to a different dimension when I am done here.” I answer.
Rie: “Fine. But I am sticking with you two the entire time.” Rie said with a fed-up tone.
Jeez… Mika wasn’t lying about how Rie would kill her if she cheated. I mean, not like a handgun would even bother me but, I still don’t want to get shot. Who would want to get shot by a cute woman wielding a gun? Don’t answer that.
Though I was just threatened, Mika urged me to open up the System Store, so I got out my phone.
Mika: “Why did you take out your phone?” Mika asked with a confused tone.
Erika: “Latest System version lets you put the System on anything you want. Rather than just only being able to use it in your mind, or seeing those weird panels in front of you. I put it on my smartphone. This way anyone can look at it.” I explain.
Rie: “Really? Do you know when this update will be finished?” Rie asked with a curious tone.
Erika: “It depends on how much I test it. Originally, it wasn’t supposed to be released for thousands of years, that was until I became the first and only tester of it.” I answer.
Mika: “Ah, so interesting! I knew camping out in that war zone of a dimension was the right call.” Mika said with a laugh.
Erika: “That it is. Though I don’t know when it will be released, maybe in a few years, please be aware that a war will break out.” I say with a serious tone.
Mika: “Why would a war break out?” She asked with a confused tone.
Erika: “Ah, something about a new age being started. But also because of how game changing the new version is. Here, just play with the System app on my phone for a bit, you will figure out why I would say this.” I say before handing Mika my phone.
Rie and Mika crowded together to poke around the System. Their reactions went from amusement to excitement, and then finally to complete dread.
Mika: “Erika… you’re literally stronger than anything in existence currently. Not to even mention this System version.” Mika said with a thinking pose.
Rie: “I agree. Erika, we owe you a great debt for telling us about this.” Rie said with a serious tone.
Erika: “If you want to repay me, come to my home base dimension. More powerful people living there will always be a benefit to me.” I offer.
Mika: “Can you take us there?” Mika asked with a serious tone.
Erika: “I wish that I could but, not right now. It’s currently in lockdown. My group won’t unlock it until all of those groups stop fighting after that egg thing that I was in.” I reply with a slightly remorseful tone.
Rie: “You’re welcome to stay here until we can leave.” Rie offered.
Mika: “Right. We should stay with your group. It sounds like it is the safest place to be. Though, what kind of group is it?” Mika asked with a thinking pose.
Erika: “It’s a little confusing so, let me take a deep breath… It’s a group containing a ton of different races of beings. From humans to Creators. Most of them being my wives. One of my wives is a Demon Goddess, and she already had a few wives as well as a harem of lovers numbering in the hundreds. We currently live in the same estate that I had built. I live there with them and my daughters. The dimension is a modern dimension during the 2000s. I actually pretty much control that dimension via being the richest person and owning every country’s debt.” I explain in one breath.
Mika: “…”
Rie: “…”
Mika: “That’s… very interesting. Is there any room for us?” Mika asks.
Erika: “Yes. I went overboard and made the estate extremely big.” I reply with a giggle.
Rie: “Mika, could you stop doing crazy things every time I let you out of my sight?” Rie asked while rubbing her head. Which was probably in pain.
Erika: “Hey! That’s what my wives tell me all of the time.” I say with a laugh.
Mika: “I’ll try not to do so in the future.” Mika said with a shrug.
Erika: “And that’s exactly what I tell them in response.” I say with another laugh.
After that little exchange, I plugged my phone into a TV, so they wouldn’t have to crowd me to look at the System Store. They didn’t actually look at it yet.
I won’t bore you with the store interface or what it has. Let’s just say that the store had pretty much fucking everything you could think of. It would literally take me multiple days to tell you about each and every item.
Though the first thing I bought was a skill. The skill being sleep magic resistance. After that, I bought everything else. And I mean EVERYTHING!
Luckily, we had the forethought to move to a more open part of Mika and Rie’s house.
I divided each purchase by the section it was in the store by different piles. Oh, right. Skills are given in the form of a pill. This is one of the major problems. Why? Because there isn’t a limit on how many of something you can purchase.
I have no idea if this is an oversight or an intended feature. There were so many skills… Even an inventory skill. And each skill was at its max level as well.
The only good thing is that you can’t power level your Stats since you can’t buy Monster Cores.
Being the cheeky girl I am, I bought 99 of each and everything in the store. Which is literally everything that the System recognizes as an item.
Erika: “Take what you want. There is absolutely no way in hell that I could find a use for all of this stuff.” I say with one of my hands on my hip.
Mika: “Are you sure that we are even supposed to own any of this?” Mika asked with an unsure tone.
Rie: “Mika… just do what she says. I didn’t realize that there was a person who could do crazier things than you but, I am already used to it.” Rie said with a deadpan tone before walking over to the weapon pile.
I didn’t follow her, because there was an item that allowed you to upgrade an item’s Rank. As such, I used it on my knife and sword that Sofiel made for me. As well as all of the other gear that I usually wear.
Ah, right. Sofiel got tired of me using that kitchen knife, so she made me a new one a while ago. What a loving wife!
Back to the items, a shocking revelation was that they were all Rank XXX+ now, and I was now completely overpowered. And so will Rie, Mika, my wives, and daughters will be.
I am putting together quite the group… Ah, what’s that? You want to look at my Status again?
Ah, please wait while I take a bunch of pills. That sounds bad… Look, I’m not doing drugs. Just taking a bunch of pills that will give me skills. Huh… that rhymes… And also still sounds like I am going to do something bad...

So... um... that took a long time. It didn't help that each pill counted as food to my stomach. It was literally like trying to shove an entire pill bottle down my throat. But I pushed through it and ate them all! Now, behold! My efforts shall be shown via text format!

Oh, sweet lord! Where do I even start? Lava Resistance and Lava Breathing, does this mean I can take a dip in some lava? Crazy! Inventory is an actual skill now. Rather than just being something that some people and I can use.
I feel like some of these I should have already had… Damn. I should have taken those pills in an actual order of some kind. Now my skills are just completely random with no rhyme or reason to how they are laid out.
Man… I feel like a lot of these skills are completely redundant. Music Master, Dance Master? When will I ever actually need these skills? Probably never. I mean, I barely used most of the skills I had before this whole skill gaining bonanza!
Why did I even bother to buy and gain every skill available in the store? I'm sorry... I just couldn't help myself... Well, no use crying over spilled milk.
Lilith: “Erika! Why must you do this to us!?” Lilith yelled in my head.
Erika: “You did tell me to buy everything, though?” I reply with a deadpan tone.
Lilith: “Why the fuck did you need to buy 99 of EVERYTHING!?” Lilith continued to yell.
Erika: “Eh, you didn’t tell me not to buy that many of each item. I plead innocent to these charges.” I reply with a shrug.
Lilith: “…”
Lilith: “Ah… whatever. You can keep all of the things you bought. With your spending spree, we have all the testing for the Store that we needed. Limits will be put on how many times you can buy something. Not that it fucking matters to you. Since you won’t have to ever use it again since you have already bought everything!” Lilith said with an annoyed tone.
And she continued to berate me for an entire hour. Lilith only stopped because she ran out of time to talk to me. Normally, I would just cut her off but, she is my wife now. I can’t just hang up on my own wife. I mean, I actually could, but I ain't an asshole.
Oh, while I was “talking” to Lilith, Rie, and Mika have finished going through each and every pile that I laid out earlier.
Mika: “Um… Erika, we will definitely follow you back to your dimension.” Mika said with a serious tone.
Rie: “Is there really any reason not to go with her? I mean, look at what she has done so far. I don’t think that there is a single being that could even land a scratch on us now.” Rie said with a sigh.
Ah, I have broken more women once again… Curse my uncanny ability to do crazy things! Oh well, I just come to terms with this power. I will certainly do the same to more women in the future.
Since they were done, I went to each pile and put everything into my inventory. Can my inventory even hold that many things? Well, yes. The max level inventory skill gives you an infinite space to hold whatever number of items that you want.
It’s a little surprising that the inventory skill is a standalone thing, and not something you use via Space Magic.
Mika: “Erika, my wife and I are going to head to bed. I’m sorta hoping that this is all just some fucked up dream.” Mika said.
Rie: “There is a guest bedroom up the stairs, to the left.” Rie said before walking away upstairs with Mika in tow.
Following Rie’s instructions, I made my way to the guest bedroom. It was pretty nice. Slipping into my nightwear, I got into bed as well.
I did finish evolving today, and today was very tiring in general. Exciting, sure. But exhausting nonetheless. As such, I fell asleep pretty quickly.
