chapter 29
The Teacher is Not a Restroom (4)
After being discharged from the clinic, Bisus put on his coat, greeted Sofia, and stepped outside.
Jenice walked beside him.
“‘Meeting Bisus again in swordsmanship class,'” Jenice mimicked Sofia’s tone.
“That woman. She was practically dripping with honey from her eyes. Did you fall for her?”
“What are you talking about, falling for her? I guess it’s just because I’m grateful that she saved me.”
“…Hmph.”
Genis let out a snort.
“I was worried because someone said their friend went alone to catch a demon, so I went to look for them right away. But that friend was actually in a woman’s arms, fluttering around and at the infirmary for treatment?”
“I’m sorry… I won’t go out like that alone next time.”
“You talk a big game, but…”
Secretaryus and Genis walked in silence for a moment.
“By any chance…”
In the midst of the silence, Secretaryus spoke up.
“Yeah?”
“Do you have an interest in Sophia?”
“…Huh?”
Genis turned to Secretaryus with a bewildered expression.
“No, you were talking about her in a way that’s not like you. If you’re interested, I can introduce you. She’s a friend I just made… Ouch!”
Genis roughly stepped on Secretaryus’ foot.
“Hmph. Whatever.”
Leaving Secretaryus behind, Genis moved forward.
“Just a moment, Genis?”
“Ugh, this frustrating guy.”
Seeing that sight, Secretaryus let out a sigh inwardly.
“He must be saying something about introducing a woman to a woman who dresses like a man. It’s worth being stepped on.”
If Secretarys didn’t know that Genesis was a woman, he wouldn’t have acted the same way in the same situation. He didn’t know that the reason Genesis stepped on Secretarys’ foot wasn’t just because of their gender.
Groan
“……Hmm?”
Secretarys, who was trying to catch up with Genesis walking ahead, turned his head slightly at the sudden feeling he sensed.
“This feeling….”
Secretarys walked slowly following the strange feeling he felt.
He passed through the bushes on the side of the road and entered a dark space between the trees.
Since it was already late, the area where the trees were densely packed was locked in darkness.
Crackle
Secretarys, who was pushing through the bushes and moving forward, felt a presence up ahead and stopped right there.
“Hey, you pig! I told you to be careful with this!”
“Ugh… sorry.”
Secretarys cautiously extended his head from the bushes and assessed the situation.
There were two academy students carrying a reasonably large box that seemed to contain something.
“Damn, this bastard is really annoying.”
“Ugh, I can do it, maybe….”
One male student with a bad demeanor and one male student who seemed vague and absent-minded.
‘What’s going on here?’
Since it was late, the sight of the two academy students transporting something in a secluded place didn’t look ordinary at all.
And above all, the unfamiliar aura emanating from the box the two students were moving.
The energy that led Bierce here was flowing out from inside that box.
As a leading student responsible for the academy’s security, Bierce held his position.
“First, let’s confirm the situation.”
“Once we complete the mission of delivering this, we can be recognized as proud members of the Demon Army. It’s about settling the life of a pathetic academy underachiever!”
“Demon Army?”
“Settling the matter of the Demon World…”
“Yeah. We’re now the fingers of destiny!”
“The Demon World is good…”
A year ago, an army from another dimension suddenly appeared, declaring war against the entire continent. It was the Demon Army.
It was also a major incident that acknowledged the existence of the Demon World, which had only been passed down in legends, and proclaimed a state of emergency across the entire continent.
With the ambition to devour the continent, the Demon Army destroyed and occupied the kingdoms that bordered their erosion points. They displayed overwhelming majesty and power.
There were also those who betrayed humanity and joined the demons, enticed by their grand appearance.
Due to such traitors, humanity suffered significant losses, and anyone who had ever colluded with the demons was considered a traitor and immediately executed, as it was the basic principle.
“A traitor… here, in the academy. This is a bigger problem than I thought.”
Bierce, who had hidden himself, thinking it was just a minor act of rebellion by academy students, became tense.
Is that guy going to get scolded again?
Rustle, rustle…
Moving through the bushes, the two academy students slowly carried the box.
Bierce tried to hide his presence as much as possible and followed the two students slowly.
“Phew… It’s tough. Let’s rest here for a bit and then go.”
“Master’s rest….”
The two students set the box down and slumped down heavily.
“This is really heavy.”
The fierce-looking male student wiped his sweat and turned his gaze towards the box.
“Anyway, our mission is just to deliver this. Should we take a peek at what this thing is?”
“Master, it’s fine….”
‘Deliver. Are we trying to deliver something inside the Academy to the external demons?’
The grounds of Richten Academy were created by the previous heads of the Academy and are protected by a special barrier operated by the current head, Beatrice, the Grand Sorceress.
Because of this, the demons couldn’t enter through normal means and instead used magic secretly within to create monsters.
The monster that Bierce captured during the day was also created for that reason.
“Somewhere…?”
The two students cautiously opened the lid of the box.
“…A sword?”
“It’s a sword….”
The contents of the box, visible over the shoulders of the two students, were a sword of moderate size. It was also a worn-out sword that looked quite shabby.
“They told us to secretly steal it from deep inside the Academy’s record room, so I thought it would be a valuable treasure… but it’s more shoddy than I thought?”
“Even Master thinks it’s shoddy….”
The two students couldn’t hide their disappointment after seeing the contents of the box.
‘Stolen from inside the Academy’s record room.’
The Academy, a place of learning that has nurtured heroes of the continent since ancient times.
It was also a place where numerous treasures were hidden and protected.
Perhaps that sword is also one of those treasures.
Could it be that the demons are trying to persuade Academy students and secretly steal it?
If that’s the case, we can’t let them take the sword and leave the Academy like that.
As a member of the Vanguard protecting this Academy, I can’t allow that.
Viceus stepped forward and lowered his stance to subdue the two students and confiscate the item.
“First, I’ll pin down the guy on the left’s head to the ground… Okay, got it.”
Viceus paused for a moment to assess the situation.
Just as the two male students were distracted by the sword, Viceus sprang out from the bushes.
Thump.
“What the!”
Viceus grabbed the startled student’s head and slammed it down.
“Urgh!”
Leaving the unconscious student behind, Viceus lunged towards the bewildered student.
“Ugh, ugh!”
Although he tried to block Viceus, who had a considerable build, he couldn’t prevent him from striking the back of his neck.
Thud.
The two male students, rendered unconscious by Viceus, collapsed onto the grass.
“Phew. Well, it ended without any major incident.”
Jeniss probably won’t say anything even if he finds out about this.
Tap tap.
Secretarys brushed his hands and turned his gaze towards the direction the two students were inspecting.
The eerie energy that had led Secretarys here was emanating from the old sword.
“A sword that demons are targeting. Could it be a holy sword that comes from legends?”
Isn’t it too unimpressive to call it a holy sword?
Feeling an inexplicable attraction, Secretarys approached the sword.
Just as Secretarys’ hand was about to touch the old sword,
Kuuung
A strange sound accompanied by immense pressure pressed down on Secretarys’ whole body.
“W-What!”
A small portal opened in front of him, and something black popped out.
“Hmm?”
“A demon! How can a demon be inside the academy!”
Black skin and thick mana emanated from it.
Secretarys realized that he was dealing with a higher-ranking demon.
“I-I need to move!”
Due to the pressure, Secretarys couldn’t move properly.
“Something’s different. You’re not the one who made a contract with me.”
The demon scanned Secretarys up and down.
“I see. So I’ve been caught. This has become quite a hassle.”
Ung
A black sphere appeared from the hands of the demon.
Pasak
The sphere shattered.
Kwajik
Simultaneously, the bodies of the two male students who were lying down crumpled into a form similar to the sphere.
“Since I intended to discard them from the beginning, it won’t make much of a difference.”
The two male students, like crumpled paper, quickly concealed their appearance.
“Hmm….”
The demon looked at Vess.
“If it’s just this guy, then the story is simple.”
With the demon’s hand, Vess once again transformed into a sphere.
“Die.”
The demon shot a curse at Vess.
‘I’m going to die!’
Kwaang
Vess narrowly dodged the attack by rolling his body.
“Ugh… ugh… ugh….”
Vess, who had barely escaped from a paralyzed state caused by the pressure, gasped for breath.
Until just a moment ago, the place where Vissus had been was completely destroyed by the overwhelming power of Matan, leaving only a massive pit.
“Damage?”
The demons gathered again under the control of the magician.
“You would have died more comfortably if you had just stayed dead.”
“I can’t win like this!”
But it was impossible to call for help from anyone else. He would be defeated before that.
Vissus’s gaze fell on an old sword lying on the ground.
“The academy’s artifact that the demons stole, even going so far as to plant a mine inside the academy, and secretly infiltrating such a high-level demon… Perhaps!”
“Die.”
The demon shot Matan again.
“Ugh!”
Vissus was thrown to the ground.
“…!”
His fingertips touched the old sword.
Wooong
The trembling old sword.
“N-No way!”
With the startled cry of the demon, a bright light engulfed the surroundings.
