Chapter 325: Chapter 325: Bring It On
York felt a bit helpless upon hearing these words again and directly sealed Mamu's mouth with his telekinesis.
Then, he controlled everything with his mind.
Chairs flew towards them; Mamu, unable to speak, automatically sat down.
All the technological devices floated in front of him.
"Do you understand your current situation? You have been kidnapped by me, so you need to stay in character and keep your mouth shut."
...
In a basement of a cottage in the woods.
The command center fell into a brief silence the moment Hadley's voice ceased.
Then, a ringing bell shattered the quiet.
Sitterson jerked awake and pressed a button.
"What's going on?"
His words captured everyone's attention in the command center.
"There's been a development with Mamu."
Daniel's calm voice resonated through the speakers.
"My men heard the sound of a grenade."
Sitterson's mouth twitched, and everyone instinctively looked at the large screen.
The young professor they were monitoring was seen tying Mamu to a chair with a thick chain.
Behind them, a ruined cottage could be seen.
Sitterson exchanged glances with Hadley, their eyes conveying various messages in the air.
"Daniel, send someone to retrieve Mamu. We cannot let this interfere with the ceremony. There's still time."
Sitterson spoke calmly, then added a remark to express his dissatisfaction.
"Also, your man has been kidnapped."
While saying this, Sitterson felt somewhat speechless.
What kind of elite military unit is this, to be so easily manipulated by an ordinary professor?
Mamu was stuttering, appearing frightened, like a complete fool!
Daniel, taken aback, quickly responded without questioning, only following orders.
"Understood."
The command center returned to silence.
"Look, Commander!"
A reminder from a coworker forced Sitterson to shift his focus back to the screen.
The young professor suddenly filled the screen, even wiping the lens like cleaning glasses, not hiding his muttering.
"You should be able to hear this."
At the old gas station.
York smiled and grabbed the object resembling a camera, as if seeing everyone in the command center, and began speaking.
"Let me introduce myself, I'm York John. You might not believe it, but I truly am the savior of the world and a pillar for humanity."
He declared boldly, without any hint of embarrassment, and continued smiling.
"I will speak with the ancient gods on your behalf, and from now on, there will be no more sacrifices or ceremonies.
Of course, you may not believe me, so I will demonstrate my power. So please, bring it on."
Saying this, York approached Mamu, who was tied to a chair, and knocked him out with a karate chop, broadcasting it all like a live stream.
"My God!"
Someone in the command center exclaimed unconsciously.
"Damn it! What is this guy trying to do? No, who is he, and how does he know about the existence of the ancient gods and us?"
Hadley couldn't help but curse aloud.
"Where are the other targets? Why can't I see anyone? Get moving!"
With that command, the command center buzzed into action.
"Commander, I will trace the path of the RV to locate the other targets."
An operator at a control panel spoke up.
"Then hurry!"
"Yes!"
Another commander, Sitterson, also looked troubled as he watched the young professor leisurely sit back into the RV on the big screen.
"It seems that the original five targets must be somewhere. If we can find those five people, everything can return to normal."
Hadley, a long-time colleague, understood Sitterson's meaning and stared at the big screen, pressing a button, and took a deep breath.
"Daniel! Don't hold back. The ceremony must not be disrupted. After all, he did say, 'bring it on.'"
This cold command reached an earpiece, and Daniel, unchanging, simply stated.
"Understood!"
...
"Things are moving fast."
With a view spanning 150 meters around him, like having a god's perspective, York could clearly see a fully armed squad rushing towards him.
Judging by their appearance, this squad definitely had a tough military vibe.
"Are these military elites? They even have RPGs, how excessive."
Meanwhile.
"Target sighted."
The team of twenty-four military elites, led by the front man, followed the direction pointed by their colleague.
They saw an RV emerging from an intersection ahead and approaching.
The team leader instinctively licked his dry lips, remembering the command, reluctantly closed his eyes, but as a soldier, obedience was his duty.
"Open fire."
With the command given, the rest of the team hesitated for a moment, then looked towards the team leader.
"I said, open fire. Gunner, take position!" the team leader ordered coldly.
The order was given, and the soldier carrying an RPG
crouched down, then aimed the RPG at the approaching RV.
Taking a deep breath, he bit his gums and pulled the trigger.
He could feel everything.
The firing pin struck the primer, igniting the rocket's primer at the tail, which in turn ignited the propellant in the tube, expelling the rocket from the barrel and counteracting the recoil with gases ejected from the back of the launcher.
Boom!
The firing soldier's eyes widened, filled with regret.
Because this meant that an innocent life might end by his hands, adding to his career's burden.
However, what the soldier did not know was that York inside the RV simply smiled, turned the camera to face forward.
"Can you see this?"
The live-like broadcast showed the rocket heading straight for the camera.
It gave a very real impression, so real that everyone in the command center instinctively held their breath.
Yet, as seconds passed, someone hesitantly spoke.
"Is it just me, or is the rocket flying a bit slow?"
This remark brought silence to the room.
If it were depicted in an anime, both Sitterson and Hadley would have sweat drops marked with ellipses on their foreheads.
