Chapter 329: Chapter 329: The Bargain
"Roar—"
The ancient god responded with a surge of scorching energy.
Like the fury in its eyes, massive fissures spread across the earth, filled with glowing red magma.
The entire space began to shake.
Aside from York, everyone from the management bureau who had come up from the underground base was pale and kneeling.
The intense pressure made it difficult for them to breathe, and some of the physically weaker staff had already fainted earlier.
"Ah, do you really want to come up here and fight me? Aren't you afraid Zeus might come down and punish you?"
York sighed, dropping his bag to the ground.
Bang!
When the bag touched the ground, ripples appeared.
Pristine energy burst forth from it, spreading across the area.
This energy enveloped the management bureau and others, allowing them a moment to breathe and preventing them from dying outright under the ancient god's released aura. Then, it shot downward, colliding with the searing breath.
Boom, boom, boom—dull sounds exploded.
The clash created a standoff, and the reverberations from the center point solidified the entire world.
For a moment, the entire area was affected, and one by one, the people from the management bureau fainted under the clash of these mighty forces.
Only Hadley, before fainting, took one last look at the glowing figure in front of him, reminiscent of a god. The last thing he saw was the young professor waving his hand...
"Strange power!"
The ancient god, through the layers of barriers, looked at the human who could match its aura and slightly furrowed its red brows.
Besides that, the bag gave it a strong sense of crisis.
"You are not a new god!"
York waved his hand, placing a protective shield around the people from the management bureau to prevent them from dying.
"If I were a man of Zeus, why would I stand up for humanity?"
The ancient god did not strike immediately, which was a good sign.
Of course, this was also expected; if York's previous assumptions were correct, these ancient gods would not act rashly.
York glanced at the giant's location, including the cuts across its chest and the large, blackened mass that looked like it had been struck by lightning, gaining some insight.
Near the throne, the huge chains that had fallen off seemed like part of a sealing magic circle.
Combining all his previous guesses.
Zeus's seal did exist, but over the long expanse of time, the seal had weakened, allowing these ancient gods, seemingly of Cronus's ilk, to start breaking free.
This meeting further confirmed many of his suspicions.
These legendary ancient gods, seemingly of Cronus's group, appeared to be up to something.
With thoughts rapidly turning, York calmly said, "If I were Zeus's man, and I saw you breaking the seal, it wouldn't just be me coming here; it would be Zeus himself."
This statement caused a visible emotional fluctuation in the underground ancient god.
Though it showed no expression on the surface, the red magma under its throne began to boil uncontrollably, bubbles bursting non-stop.
Seeing this, York suddenly had an idea.
Why had these ancient gods started to break their seals but not acted, remaining in place instead?
"So, you haven't resolved Cronus's seal yet?"
At this statement, the magma patterns on the giant lit up brightly, its eyes widening.
Under York's feet, red energy appeared, and a massive force of energy and magma surged from beneath the ground.
A pillar of flame composed of orange-red magma and fire shot into the sky, destroying the surface, including the cabin, like a giant burning column, rising high and piercing through the dark clouds like a rolling dragon, emitting a stunning red glow.
"Let's not lose our tempers, shall we? Either come up and fight me, or make a deal with me quietly."
The giant's eyes narrowed as it looked at York, unscathed and even protecting the humans within the pillar of flame.
"Who are you really?"
Hearing this familiar question, York waved his right hand, easily dispersing the dense fire and earth elements around him.
Lacking elemental support, the giant column of flame instantly disappeared, the area now filled with smoke and volcanic ash, reflecting deep red and orange glows in the light.
Below was a deep abyss, and York, with the unconscious management bureau staff, floated in place, staring calmly into the abyss.
"The god of humanity."
Adding a halo around himself, York disregarded the giant's expression, striking back.
It was impossible for him to remain indifferent if someone else attacked him, showing no reaction.
Especially under these circumstances, it was even more crucial to demonstrate his strength and stance.
A sword tip larger than a mountain appeared in the void, then vanished instantly.
The giant's pupils contracted, and it crossed its arms over its chest.
The vanished sword tip suddenly appeared, pressing at the center of its crossed
hands.
Bang!
The ground beneath the giant, which seemed very hard, shattered inch by inch, including the huge throne behind it crushed into powder.
The pristine light replaced the red space occupied by the giant, disappearing in an instant.
Leaving only the giant and a small remnant of the platform beneath its feet.
Everything returned to calm.
Having absorbed York's counterattack, the giant did not retaliate but subconsciously glanced at its crossed hands, where a small crack had appeared at the center of its defense.
This showed that the opponent had the attack power to break his defenses.
The giant took a deep breath, reassessing the floating human's strength.
But when it saw what truly lay before the human, its pupils still tightened slightly, and its body tensed.
Without doubt, it could feel the danger of this object, merely existing yet capable of altering the structure of space.
Without needing to think, it knew that if this strange energy burst forth, the results would be something it didn't want to see.
Because of this, that damned Zeus would be able to sense everything happening here, rendering their efforts futile.
"Human, what kind of deal do you want to make?" the giant finally spoke.
Hearing this, York patted the C4 magic bomb in front of him, allowing the boiling magic to settle, and smiled.
"We should have done this sooner. My deal is simple: cancel your so-called fun, let humanity rest and recover, and I won't expose what you're planning,"
York stared at the silent giant, calmly saying,
"How about it? This deal should be very favorable for you."
The giant frowned, seriously considering for a moment, and finally stared at York, silent for a while before nodding.
"It is acceptable!"
It was frustrated inside, but the giant understood that their fun was trivial compared to what they intended to do.
However, while it agreed, it noticed a change in the expression of the human known as York.
Though somewhat puzzled, the giant thought of something and then spoke.
"But I have a condition."
Not hearing the mission completion alert, York frowned.
"What condition?"
"To cooperate with us," the giant stared at York, calmly saying.
"Only as partners will I believe your words, otherwise..."
