Chapter 11: VNET ANNOUNCEMENT
HANEUL put a pheromone patch on his nape. He was in the restroom and using the mirror there to make sure that the patch would be attached to the right spot. A nurse had taught him how to properly put on a pheromone patch, and he had been diligently following the instruction she gave. Especially since he still couldn't control his pheromones.
The gland that produced pheromones was located at the back of the neck. Omegas and Alphas who couldn't control their pheromone released usually used pheromone patches. It's not that patches blocked the pheromones. It's more like it's converting the scent into something neutral that no other Omegas or Alphas could react and smell it.
Young Alphas and Omegas were usually the ones who used it. Because it's hard for most of them to control their pheromones. Haneul was no different. Especially considering the fact that he had only manifested four days ago. Heck, he was still on the 'acceptance stage' on the fact that he was technically no longer an ordinary man.
Haneul was just glad that the medicine was so advanced today that he didn't have to worry about uncontrollable pheromones or sudden heat. He was even more thankful that the suppressants produced now no longer had any negative side-effects and were even more effective. And if he didn't want to wear pheromone patches, there were medicinal perfumes that could easily mask one's pheromones.
Basically, as long as he used these patches or a medicinal perfume, and properly drink a suppressant at the right time of the month, he could live a normal life.
Well, there was actually a much more straightforward way to do that. But that included surgical procedures, removing certain parts of his anatomy. He wasn't yet so desperate that he would turn to that.
Another fact that he was glad about was that the laws protecting Omegas were solidly in place. It was not like the Middle Ages, where Omegas were treated merely as objects for reproduction. Even 100 years ago, Omegas was still at the bottom of the social hierarchy.
But society, as a whole, had come a long way from there. Omegas were no longer discriminated. Rather, they were now protected by the law. Just like how any normal human should be. They were now given equal opportunities as others and were no longer treated as second-class citizens.
Honestly, if that was not the case, Haneul might as well just go crazy. He had already gone through a decade of suffering. The last thing he wanted was for that 'suffering' to change into another form.
After putting on the pheromone patch, he walked out of the restroom. He looked at the clock on the wall and saw that it was already nearing 12 noon. A nurse would come in a few minutes to give him his lunch.
His parents actually wanted to deliver food to him every day for breakfast, lunch, and dinner while he was staying at the hospital. Of course, he didn't agree. The two were both busy working as teachers. His father was teaching middle school, while his mother was teaching high school. He didn't want them to become even more tired because of him.
But his mother insisted that all of them should still eat dinner together. Which his father strongly agreed. So, every night, their family of four would gather in the hospital cafeteria to have dinner. Not that he was complaining, though. Spending time with his family was the one activity he would always welcome.
Haneul sat down on the bed and opened his smartphone.
The other day, when everything finally calmed down, he finally managed to search for news about the accident. It still happened. The truck driver lost control of the truck he's driving because of fatigue. But thankfully, unlike in his original world, there was no significant casualty.
The truck didn't collide with any other vehicles and just skidded to the side, ending up hitting a lamp post. The driver only suffered minor injuries as well. Haneul was so relieved when he read that. He would probably feel too much guilt if another family suffered the same way he and his family did.
With that out of the way, he could finally breathe much easier.
Haneul then habitually checked the SNS accounts of Vnet. He had been doing that for the past few days. He was waiting for the announcement about Boys Odyssey. After he refreshed the profile page, the announcement he'd been waiting for had finally appeared.
