Falling in Love with a 500-year-old female elder

Chapter 24 - The Blood Demon Cult is alive!

Chapter 24: Looks like I have become a Sword God? The Blood Demon Cult is alive!

As Ning Chuan walked out of Seven Blessing Inn, the entire city of Lin’an erupted into chaos.

“Did you see that sword glow just now?”

“Could it be from Seven Blessings Inn?”

“Oh no, there might be something terrifying inside the inn!”

“Perhaps a mighty expert from the king’s realm has taken residence there!”

“First, there was that astonishing finger light, and now this sky-splitting sword light! How many powerful beings are there in Seven Blessings Inn?”

“Could it be… Is the person who caused the finger light and sword light the same individual?”

“Seven Blessings Inn is no ordinary place!”

whispered a resident of Lin’an City.

Some sword cultivators even remarked that the sword light they saw earlier was incredibly profound and rare, suggesting the presence of a supreme master of swordsmanship who could manifest such brilliance.

Amidst all the speculations, an unnamed sword deity who supposedly resided in seclusion within Seven Blessings Inn was conjured up by the collective imagination.

…..

Ning Chuan, walking down the street, couldn’t help but sigh and shake his head upon hearing the various discussions.

Ah, well…

It seemed he had unintentionally become a Sword God in the eyes of many. Shaking his head, Ning Chuan continued on his way to the bank, hoping to avoid the commotion.

Before long, Ning Chuan arrived at the bank. The profits from his recent endeavors were far greater than his previous ventures, a staggering 7.3 million pieces of currency. Envy and resentment emanated from the bank’s patrons as he left with the money order. Seven hundred and thirty thousand pieces! Even in a world where gold wasn’t particularly rare, this was a substantial fortune. The accumulation, along with his existing wealth, brought Ning Chuan’s ambitious building plans within closer reach.

Returning to his room, Ning Chuan immediately set to work sketching the blueprint for a colossal structure that would tower skyward like none before in the Nine Mysterious Realm.

……

Meanwhile, in Cloud State’s Capital City…

Inside a lavish mansion, the sound of things being smashed echoed incessantly.

“Fools!”

“They’re all useless!!”

Jiang Chengfeng’s visage resembled that of a livid ghost, his breath heavy with anger. Beside him stood a maid, her beauty akin to a flower, her face pallid with fear, frozen in place.

“What a useless lot! They couldn’t even manage to kill a mere storyteller!”

Clenching his fists, Jiang Chengfeng’s eyes blazed with fury. A few days earlier, he had dispatched Pang Du and Iron Mountain to assassinate Ning Chuan. However, the results were disastrous. Pang Du had been killed and his body was displayed in the marketplace. Iron Mountain, though not directly implicated in the attempt, was still lingering in Seven Blessing Inn in Lin’an City and hadn’t returned as expected.

Pang Du’s death, as a Zhen Wu Realm cultivator, held little weight. Iron Mountain, however, was a genuine Marquis powerhouse, almost his equal in strength. Had Jiang Chengfeng not taken in the destitute Iron Mountain years ago, he would never have followed him. Now both of his men were out of commission, and Jiang Chengfeng’s rage knew no bounds.

“Young Master Jiang, please don’t dwell on it. Joining our Blood Demon Cult would be the solution. What’s the significance of Ning Chuan? We can deal with him on your behalf.”

A raspy laugh emanated from behind a screen in the living room. A frail old man in a blood-red robe stepped forth, his eyes narrow and bearing dark lines, imparting an eerie aura.

“Didn’t I ask you not to show yourself?”

Jiang Chengfeng’s gaze flickered to the old man, his tone dripping with contempt.

“Don’t worry. No one’s around.”

“Young Master Jiang, our Blood Demon Sect understands your concerns. We know you care for your reputation, so we won’t breathe a word of your cooperation with us.”

The old man with the bruised appearance chuckled, extending his hand in a conciliatory gesture.

“I haven’t agreed yet to this collaboration.”

Jiang Chengfeng’s expression remained cold.

“Young Master Jiang, remember, we’ve been sending you top-notch furnace tripods monthly, along with helping you break through to the Sealed Waiter Realm. This sudden change of heart after achieving that makes one wonder, doesn’t it?”

The bruised old man’s voice bore a half-smile. “Now that you’ve ascended to the Sealed Waiter Realm, it’s not wise to sever ties. Don’t you agree?”

Jiang Chengfeng’s nostrils flared as he listened, but he didn’t respond immediately. He glanced at the frightened maids and dismissed them with a wave.

“Leave us.”

“Yes.”

As the maids hurriedly retreated, Jiang Chengfeng spoke again:

“It’s possible that I’ll consider joining you, but I have three conditions.”

“Please, Mr. Jiang, lay them out.”

The bruised old man extended his hand again.

“First, the monthly supply of Furnace Cauldrons must not be flawed. They need to be of at least Ascension Profound Realm quality.”

“Secondly, my involvement with Blood Demon Cult must remain secret. If word leaks out, I’ll cut ties immediately.”

“Third…”

Jiang Chengfeng’s eyes gleamed with malice, his voice like an icy blade:

“I want Ning Chuan dead! I want his head displayed on the walls of Lin’an City, exposed to the sun for three days and nights! Only then will my hatred be appeased!”

“And Iron Mountain, my mere lapdog, dared to betray me? I want him dead too, and his head brought to me.”

Jiang Chengfeng’s words were venomous, chilling the air. The bruised old man, however, burst into laughter.

“Find something amusing?”

Jiang Chengfeng’s eyes bore into the old man.

The old man waved dismissively. “Fear not, Young Master Jiang. Not to mention the mere possibility of a Sealed Waiter expert around Ning Chuan, even if there were a peak Sealed Waiter powerhouse, they couldn’t shield him this time.”

With a pause, a sinister smile twisted the old man’s lips.

“Within a week, you’ll receive word that Ning Chuan’s head is displayed on Lin’an City’s walls.”

Jiang Chengfeng’s expression eased slightly at the promise, and he nodded, questioning:

“Who will you send to eliminate Ning Chuan? Don’t forget, Pang Du, whom I sent before, also a ninth-level True Guru, met his end in Lin’an City. It’s conceivable that there might be a Marquis-level guardian.”

Dismissing the concern with a wave, the bruised old man retorted:

“Don’t worry. Whether or not there’s a Marquis-level protector around Ning Chuan, he won’t be spared this time.”

Pausing, his smile grew malevolent.

“In three days, Bishop Red Wind, one of the eight king realm bishops of the Blood Demon Church, will be passing through Lin’an City.”

“Bishop Red Wind will personally ensure Ning Chuan’s demise at that time.”

“And if there truly are strong Marquis forces around Ning Chuan…”

“Well, we’ll eliminate them too.”

Jiang Chengfeng’s eyelids constricted. Bishop Red Wind of the Blood Demon Sect…

This formidable adversary was about to make his presence known in the world.
