CHAPTER 66: SURVIVAL VII
There were several reactions to Arianne’s awakening, but only three were impactful on the battle ongoing in the small city.
In a pocket world.
Two graceful figures sat side by side before a sea.
The seawater would occasionally wash ashore to engulf their jade-like legs, and as if it was reluctant to part, it would stay for tens of seconds, before finally receding.
The beautiful women gracefully drank wine as they watched the sky fill with an aurora of different colors.
It was such a beautiful sight, however, both pairs of eyes didn’t seem to be appreciating its wonders and instead seemed to be reminiscing.
Suddenly, the tall snow-white-haired woman’s body trembled, as she felt her blood bubbling from excitement.
With a deep frown on her face, she turned to her side and looked out into the distance.
“Is there a problem?” asked the other woman, her voice sounding like a soothing tone played from a magical flute.
She appeared short and busty, as the two large mounds on her chest seemed to want to burst out from her dress.
Her hair was purple, her eyes glittering like a black gem.
After a few seconds of deep thought, Scarlett finally answered, “Something is going on in the outside world.”
After a second of silence, the purple-haired woman asked, “Can it wait?”
Scarlett didn’t even take an instant to reply, “It has to.”
She didn’t exactly know what was going on outside, but she could guess her bloodline was reacting to Arianne.
However, no matter what, she would not allow anything to break the tradition she has been holding for years in memorial of her big sister.
Besides, it would only take two hours more.
Every other thing can wait until then.
After thinking about it, the purple-haired woman nodded silently.
What Scarlett didn’t know was that her granddaughter was in a life-threatening danger.
No one could blame her though, as the evil energy she has always been watching out for, and thereby believed after many years was no more a threat, has reappeared once more in her territory.
The same went for the purple-haired woman.
…..
Deep within the city.
Outside the most luxurious building in the city, a great battle ensued.
The building was now halfway destroyed.
About eighteen corpses littered the ground.
After a great battle, fifteen greater demons were killed.
A woman and daughter pair with interlocking hands also lay dead on the ground. They were the wife and daughter of the city lord.
The last body was that of the city lord himself. After a great battle, he singlehandedly took down twelve greater demons before finally succumbing to death.
At present, a solitary figure was battling against fifteen shadows.
His body was covered in blood, and as he panted heavily, his legs trembled threatening to collapse at any second.
The fifteen figures didn’t seem to be in a rush as they mocked him, taking their time to suck him dry of every energy before finally disposing of him.
These figures consisted of the demon’s leader, the middle-aged demon that left the crawler shop an hour ago, along with four greater demons that followed him here.
The other greater demons were those who had finished their tasks of killing the city guard and destroying the teleportation formation connecting the city to others.
They regrouped with their leader after completing their work.
Suddenly…
“ROOOAAAR!” a deep animalistic roar echoed out.
All the present figures shifted their eyes in its direction when they saw a crimson moon lit up the sky.
The solitary figure's eyes widened in surprise.
His shop was in the direction the roar was coming from. This man was exactly the old man of the crawler shop. At this point, his life was hanging on a thread.
Another person had a massive reaction to roar.
It was the middle-aged man from before. He narrowed his eyes in the direction of the roar with a thoughtful expression on his face. The image of Arlo appeared in his mind and for some reason, it continued to linger.
The leader frowned before voicing out, “Do you know what is going on? That roar sounded almost like that bitch Scarlett, yet the pressure from it was far lower, in fact, it wasn’t comparable.”
After a while of thinking, “I’m not sure.” He replied sincerely.
He could attribute it to Arlo, but he still wasn’t sure. After all, no matter how one looks at it, Arlo was simply a tiny kid. What kind of threat could he pose?
“Take four greater demons and go check it out. I will finish this.”
“Alright!”
With five whooshing sounds, five figures disappeared from the battle.
…..
In Tibu’s castle.
An old man covered in black robes gazed at the city in the distance.
As a vampire, his eyesight was sharp, as was his sense of hearing.
This was the only city under Tibu’s management. Since Tibu and his family went to the capital city for the awakening of their children’s bloodline and to enroll them in the academy, he was obliged to handle the city in their place.
However, hearing the explosions, and growling sounds echoing from the distance, he felt uneasy.
“That is right! I still need to watch that brat, so he doesn’t run off.” That was the only excuse he could come up with.
Suddenly…
“ROOOOAAAR!” a deep animalistic roar drifted into his ears. His bloodline trembled in trepidation, as his legs grew weak. He almost fell to the ground.
He saw the sky lit up with a crimson moon.
‘What is going on over there?’
‘I can't ignore this anymore, the consequences might be unbearable.’
While his mind told him that, his body refused to move.
Suddenly his eyes lit up, “I can take that with me. It should increase my chances of tackling any problem that may arise.”
With that, he gained a bit of confidence.
His body turned into a swarm of bats before moving down the castle.
In Arlo’s room, the old man appeared as he surveyed the unconscious Joe.
Listening to the sound of his heartbeat, he confirmed he was sleeping before he vanished once more.
Appearing in the basement, he looked at the terrifying monster that lay before him.
“Hehe!” along with the sound of his chuckle, snarling sounds echoed in the basement.
The old man left the house riding on a terrifying beast.
‘I should circle around the city before entering.’ Even with his newfound confidence, he was still cautious.
A man and a beast streaked across the ground.
Their target?
The city in the distance.
What the old man didn’t know is that immediately when he left the castle, Joe’s eyes snapped open.
