Chapter 33: Meeting (I)
( 3rd POV )
Inside the medical room of Chaldea Headquarters, the hum of machinery provided a steady rhythm, a heartbeat to the room that housed the newly awakened. The air carried the faint scent of antiseptic, mingled with the dampness of recently dried combat suits.
Rows of sterile white beds stood as a stark contrast to the individuals occupying them—figures whose black-and-orange suits bore the unmistakable signs of water residue. Hair that clung to their foreheads only moments before had begun to dry, though some strands still glistened faintly under the overhead lights.
These individuals were none other than Team A, the once-dormant masters who had been in stasis since the catastrophe that shook the foundation of humanity's survival.
Rescued from their coffins and transported here by Da Vinci's spell, they now sat, disoriented and confused by the briefing they had just received. Seven figures in total, six Masters and one enigmatic woman, each lost in their own thoughts as the gravity of the Director's words settled over them like a suffocating fog.
A figure with golden hair that cascaded like molten sunlight down his back finally broke the oppressive silence. His noble temperament, sharp and refined, spoke of a man accustomed to command.
"So, Director, you were saying that the whole singularity problem was already solved while we were in a near-death state?"
Olga standing stiffly near the foot of the bed, glanced at the golden-haired man and nodded. "Yes, it was solved by Ken and Mash. It was a tough battle..."
Everyone's faces grew even more solemn. Some began to stare at a certain orange-haired guy with a variety of emotions.
The silver-haired teenager, who was the same age as Ken, seemed angry and frustrated after listening to the Director's briefing. He thought of a disgusting guy in a green suit before turning his attention to the poor orange-haired guy behind the Director.
He gripped his fist tightly and gritted his teeth. "Damn Lev, if it wasn't for y–"
Before he could finish his sentence, another guy with light purple hair stopped him by pressing his shoulder. "Kadoc," he called the silver-haired teenager before continuing, "It's not all Dr. Romani's fault. I get it, he's partly responsible... But he just wanted to be a normal human, to be himself, and I can understand that. Besides, he corrected his mistake by sacrificing his own life to make things right in the end."
"But–"
The teenager called Kadoc was about to refute, but another man with light blonde hair at the back of the room interrupted him.
"Renji is right, and there's no point in pursuing your hatred, especially toward someone who is already dead," the man said coldly while studying everyone's expressions.
He noticed that another comrade, a girl with long black hair and glasses, was exuding a terrifying aura. Her face couldn't be seen as she was looking down.
Thankfully, the glasses girl didn't do anything as she was also held down by a more mature woman with three pink dots on her forehead. Lastly, he glanced at the last woman, who wore an eye patch and seemed unusually quiet.
After studying his surroundings, he turned his attention to the golden-haired man at the front.
"Kirschtaria, what is our next plan?" he asked in a no-nonsense tone, diverting back to the main topic.
The golden-haired man, Kirschtaria, nodded before facing the rest of his team once again. "Everyone, I understand that everything is difficult to accept and it's frustrating to not be able to do anything... Believe me, I feel the same." Kirschtaria paused. His hands clenched into fists at his sides, betraying the emotions he so carefully restrained.
The whole room was silent as the team leader spoke, even Olga and the others just stood behind him, watching what he was going to say. "But we must focus on our current situation! This time the crisis we face is beyond what the current Chaldea is capable of. We need to stay calm and remain united!"
"Just like what Pepe and Daybit said, it's useless to blame others now. Goetia is dead, Lev is dead, and Dr. Romani has already paid the price. You all heard what the Director just said, right? We are transported to an unknown world, and there is a great threat looming above us.
This threat is not only trying to play god and decimate the human order but also the entire UNIVERSE! While this universe is not within our jurisdiction, as long as the enemy tries to mess up the human order, it is still within our duty to prevent the tragedy from happening, the duty of our CHALDEA!
So I ask you to put aside your thoughts about the previous singularity for now. If you can't, then go back to the coffins and continue to sleep there. Team A doesn't need a useless and selfish magus here."
After Kirschtaria's heartfelt speech, the others who had just woken up finally calmed down. Kadoc stopped staring at Romani before he sighed heavily. Peperoncino smiled at him while releasing Kadoc's shoulder. Daybit in the back just listened quietly with his eyes closed.
The eye-patched girl, Ophelia, regained her focus before nodding at Kirschtaria with a firm expression. Lastly, the girl wearing glasses finally retracted her menacing aura before staring at Romani with a cold gaze one last time.
Dr. Romani, who had been silent the entire time, could only smile wryly while scratching the back of his head, feeling that he had just avoided his certain doom.
Da Vinci, standing next to him, spared him a glance before whispering something to Sion beside her. "As expected from the team leader, his speech alone saved Romani from everyone's retaliation."
"I expected things might go out of control, but Kirschtaria is doing a good job, no doubt," Sion replied calmly before continuing. "But, I bet he will still get a punch from them, especially from Hinako." She said with a mischievous grin while staring at Romani.
Da Vinci chuckled in amusement as she heard it. Romani also heard it, but he could only chuckle nervously while his pale face became even paler.
"Ahaha, you're joking, right, Sion?"
"..."
"... Right...?"
Hearing no answer, Romani started to break into a cold sweat, imagining how Hinako would manhandle him.
Olga, who had been listening quietly, finally stepped out before standing next to Kirschtaria. "You heard the team leader. The next mission will be full of the unknown, so I hope you prepare for it."
Olga calmly addressed the team before continuing. "Team A's next mission will be briefed tomorrow morning by Sion before we leave the HQ."
She paused once again while staring at the last person who wasn't a part of Team A. "And for Miss Kiara, I hope you can lend us your services after we go back to the Mansion."
The woman with three pink dots on her forehead, Kiara smiled at Olga. "Fufufu, I'd love to help, Director. Besides, it is also my job," she said with a charming voice.
"Alright, now that everything is ov–"
Just as Olga was about to conclude the briefing, the door to the medical room opened. A man, hugging a few bottles of beverages to his chest, entered the room.
Despite the struggle to keep the drinks from falling, his face showed a genuine relieved smile as soon as he saw those familiar faces.
"Took you guys long enough," he paused before finally setting his eyes on the girl wearing glasses.
"Glad to finally see you again, team."

( Hinako POV )
"See? Your room is as clean as the day before you left. It was me who always cleaned it up, you know?"
The only person allowed to enter my room said those words. His voice brimmed with enthusiasm as he sat cross-legged on the fur carpet beside my bed, gesturing animatedly like he was recounting the tale of a lifetime.
I stood there, my gaze fixed on him, my emotions a tangle of love, bitterness, nostalgia, and reluctant fondness. The memories rushed in, unbidden and vivid.
"Hey, beautiful lady with glasses, what's your name? My name is Ryougi Ken by the way, nice to meet you!"
"..."
"Senpai, thanks for your hard work. It must not been easy to taking care this botanical garden all by yourself right? Sigh, Director Marisbury is really heartless. How can he let such a beauty to tend the field alone, literally."
"..."
"La Fontaine's Fables, 1668. You've been reading this Hinako-san? I must say your taste of books is peculiary old... Here, I brought you some cool books, Tensei shitara Slime Datta Ken, Spice & Wolf, Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu, Your Lie in April. Despite the weird names, try reading it. It was so goood! I bet you'll like it."
"..."
The memories of that talkative boy—new to Chaldea, brimming with curiosity—came flooding back. His relentless attempts to talk to me, to breach the icy wall I had carefully built around myself, felt like a distant echo. Back then, I was annoyed, frustrated, utterly fed up with his friendliness. He was a flame dancing too close to my ice.
And now? That boy, now a man, sat before me, still chattering away as though nothing had changed.
It was at that time I finally snapped. I had dragged him to this very room, my sanctuary, before sealing it with a simple bounded field. My white-robed disguise melted away, revealing my true form—my fiery twin swords blazing in my hands, one of them pointed directly at his stunned face.
"Stop playing yo–"
But before I could finish, his response stunned me into silence.
"Woah, that was so cool! You turned from a beautiful onee-san to a beautifully hot onee-san! With the swords even on fire, Sasuga, Hinako Senpai!"
I froze, expecting fear, panic, anything resembling a normal reaction to my transformation. Instead, his expression was one of pure awe and amusement, his eyes sparkling like he had just seen the coolest thing in the world.
For a moment, I thought I had misheard him. But as I stared at his genuine face, I was struck by a rare, uncharacteristic feeling—perplexity.
"Did you understand what are you saying? Stop with all of your act! Hinako this, Hinako that, STOP IT! I had enough with you human, if don't, I'll kill you!"
"..."
He remained silent, his gaze unwavering, staring into my glowing red eyes. For a moment, I thought I had finally succeeded in scaring him. I tightened my grip on the sword, ready to end this farce and knock him unconscious before altering his memories of this encounter.
But then, he smiled. Not the amused grin from earlier, but something softer, sadder. His next words cut through me more deeply than any blade could.
"No, you won't. You lie, Senpai."
"What?" I growled, incredulous. "You think I'm joking? Look at this flaming sword—it's inches from your head! All I need to do is push, and it'll go straight through your skull!"
Frustration colored my voice as I leaned closer, the heat of my blade almost singeing his hair. Yet, he didn't flinch. Instead, that melancholy smile deepened, a strange wistfulness in his eyes that seemed far too weird for someone his age.
"You are lying, I don't sense any killing intent behind those eyes of yours. Only... Loneliness."
I faltered, his words pierced through my defenses, slicing deeper than I thought possible. It feels like it hit me like a blow to the chest, the air leaving my lungs as if I had been struck.
"Just like me..."

A/N: This chapter will be split into two parts, so please bear with me. I've also made some changes to Daybit's character. In this version, Daybit still retains his humanity after experiencing the blip, and never killed Marisbury. Instead, it was Beryl who committed the act. I'll delve into this in another flashback.
Lastly, if my portrayal of the Team A characters differs from what you're familiar with, please understand that I haven't reached the Lostbelt part in FGO. My writing is based on the fandom information I found and my own interpretation of it.
