Chapter 22: Chapter 22

"Gooooooooooal!!!!"

The door of the small house at the entrance of the training base burst open with a loud bang as Maxxis stormed out, fists clenched and roaring in celebration. His massive beer belly strained against his shirt, while a thin belt hung over his shoulders, seemingly struggling under the weight. One couldn't help but feel a bit sorry for that overburdened belt.

Inside the stadium, Luton fans erupted, waving their arms wildly. The entire place was in a frenzy.

On the field, the Port Vale players stood stunned. Aren't these guys supposed to be amateurs? they thought. Weren't we told this match would be easy? Yet here they were, less than two minutes into the game, already trailing 1-0. The script they'd imagined was falling apart before their eyes.

Sam Parker, too, was in disbelief. Everything he'd confidently claimed before the game now felt like a slap to his face.

No way... How could a bunch of amateurs pull off such seamless attacking play?

It must be luck!

"Just lucky!!!" Sam Parker shouted, clapping his hands and trying to rally his teammates. His explanation brought some relief to the Port Vale players, who were unwilling to admit they were being outplayed.

Yeah, just luck, they thought. After all, football is a game of chances, where even amateurs can sometimes create spectacular moments.

But as the game resumed, Port Vale quickly realized how naive they'd been.

---

In the stands, Lowy had instinctively stood up to cheer after Vardy's goal, but she hesitated. Cheering would mean siding with that man—Gao Bo. After a moment of inner conflict, she chose not to shout but still gave a small round of applause.

It was a brilliant goal, after all, she told herself.

---

Back on the field, Luton's relentless pressure suffocated Port Vale. The visitors couldn't organize any attacks and resorted to long balls, but Luton's dense formation made it nearly impossible for Port Vale's forwards to win possession. Even when they managed to control the ball, Luton's midfield, led by Kanté, was quick to snatch it back.

Kanté was everywhere, like a one-man wrecking crew. Any attempts to challenge him head-on failed miserably. His ability to win second balls frustrated Port Vale to no end.

"Kanté again!" the commentator exclaimed. "Another successful interception!"

The camera cut to Gao Bo on the sideline, clapping and shouting, "Great job, Kanté! Quick! Speed up the attack!"

The commentator marveled, "Where on earth did Gao Bo find such an extraordinary player? Kanté's interceptions are almost flawless!"

Unbeknownst to the commentator, Gao Bo had a secret weapon: a mysterious blue card displayed in a holographic interface only he could see.

"+13% Steal Success Rate."

Though Kanté was already an exceptional ball-winner at just 17, this card elevated his abilities to a near-elite level, making him a nightmare for opposing teams.

---

After another Kanté interception, the ball was quickly played to Kevin Keane on the right wing. From just outside the penalty area, Keane unleashed a powerful long-range shot. The ball seemed destined for the back of the net, but the Port Vale goalkeeper managed to parry it away.

Unfortunately for Port Vale, the ball fell right to Charlie Austin, who instinctively slotted it home.

"Two-nil!" Gao Bo shouted, his arms raised in celebration.

The fans roared with excitement. The system Gao Bo had spent months perfecting was working to perfection in England.

Port Vale looked completely out of answers, unable to cope with Luton's tactical dominance.

---

Luton soon added a third goal through a counterattack. Left-back Solo Davis whipped a cross into the penalty area, where Drinkwater soared to meet it with a powerful header.

"Three-nil!"

Gao Bo sprinted along the sideline in celebration as the bench players rushed out to join the festivities.

---

By halftime, Port Vale hadn't registered a single shot. Meanwhile, Luton's offense was relentless. Early in the second half, Vardy struck again with a header, making it 4-0.

Port Vale's frustrations boiled over in the 68th minute when Charlie Austin's shot was blocked by a defender's hand. The referee awarded a penalty and showed a red card. Captain Kevin Keane calmly converted the spot-kick to make it 5-0.

Luton wasn't done. In the 76th minute, center-back Jeffrey scored his first professional goal with a towering header from a corner, bringing the score to 6-0.

By the end of the match, Vardy completed his hat-trick, and Luton ran riot, finishing with a stunning 8-0 victory.

---

As the final whistle approached, Gao Bo stood up and walked towards the Port Vale coach, extending his hand. The opposing coach, unwilling to accept such a humiliating defeat, refused to shake hands. Gao Bo simply shrugged and walked down the tunnel.

There were no boos this time. The crowd's enthusiastic cheers filled the air.

In just one game, Gao Bo, the young Chinese coach, had captured the hearts of the fans and left his mark on the league.
