Chapter 35: Chapter 35: You Can't Prevent A Goal! Break The Clean Sheet Record!
In the north stand of the Old Forest Management Stadium, the loyalists of the Iron League gathered to discuss the first half of the game.
"Let me just say, Su is too young and too rambunctious..."
Before Bud could finish his sentence, he was playfully slapped on the head by old man Lehman again, causing laughter to erupt around them.
"Hey old man, I'm about to become a grandfather, can't you cut me some slack? Stop hitting me all the time."
"I'm sorry, but Su performed so well in the first half. Why are you criticizing him?"
"There were a few instances where he could've passed the ball, but he chose to go solo, and he hasn't perfected his shooting yet."
"As a striker, why doesn't he shoot? Uwe, let him move forward and score!"
"But... well, okay, I won't say anything else."
Seeing the old man about to slap himself again, Bud quickly held his tongue.
Next to Su Luo's die-hard fan Hogan, there was a hint of smugness:
"Do you believe he'll score in the next 60 minutes?"
"How's that possible? If you're wrong, the beer's on you today."
"Alright, you're on."
The two old fans sealed their bet.
Anya wasn't worried at all; she had been quietly waiting for the goal.
"The big brother will definitely score. Women's intuition is very accurate!"
In the VIP stands above, Josephine nervously whispered words of encouragement to Su Luo.
"Come on, Luo!"
...
After the second-half kickoff, Carl Sruhe coach Kazinski suddenly noticed that
Su Luo had changed his style of play, often dropping back from the penalty area and linking up with his teammates.
"Hmph, maybe the midfielder gave him a piece of his mind? But what's the point of dropping back? Isn't it safer to stay closer to the goal?"
Kozinski felt a surge of pride; he had thoroughly studied Cologne's defeat and analyzed all of Su Luo's games.
He realized that Su Luo was adept at exploiting space to break through, and his explosive power and speed were top-notch.
Simple man-to-man marking posed a significant challenge to defenders.
Experienced veterans couldn't keep up with him, and younger players who could match Su Luo's pace were easily outwitted by his skill.
Given this, Kazinski decided to use zone defense to isolate Su Luo from his teammates.
Did he really think he could take on the entire team by himself?
In hindsight, the defensive tactics in the first half had been quite effective.
With his stamina declining in the second half, Su Luo was even less of a threat.
"I don't believe you can still... what the heck?"
Kozinski was silently patting himself on the back when suddenly, Union Berlin launched an attack towards the penalty area.
Su Luo cut across, received the ball without hesitation, and unleashed a powerful long-range shot!
The ball turned into a cannonball and crashed against the goal!
"Su Luo with a sudden long-range attempt! Oh, it hits the post and bounces out!"
The commentator Simon wiped his brow, then chuckled.
Kahn teased from the side: "Why do you sound so relieved?"
"Me? No, I'm just being impartial."
But it was evident he was leaning towards Carl Sruhe.
The hearts of the away fans almost stopped beating, but thankfully, the goal wasn't conceded.
Kozinski didn't feel lucky; he sensed something was amiss.
Su Luo's shots were becoming more determined and decisive. Did he have a trick up his sleeve?
"Stop him, don't give him a chance to shoot!"
Kozinski barked instructions from the sidelines.
Today, a draw away from home would be a victory; one point would maintain Carl Sruhe's promotion advantage.
Union Berlin, however, wasn't disheartened by the missed opportunity.
Seeing Su Luo positioning himself for another chance outside the penalty area,
his teammates rallied around him!
"The center's too crowded, Union Berlin is attempting to break through from the wings... Silvio, send an inward pass!"
"It's Su Luo again! He darts back and shakes off his marker, takes the shot!"
"The goalkeeper saves it, and Union Berlin wins a corner!"
"Captain Matuschka takes the corner, Trod wins the header at the near post!"
"Su Luo—his shot is miraculously saved by the goalkeeper again! Another corner for Union Berlin!"
During this sequence, Carl Sruhe suddenly felt immense pressure!
After Su Luo reduced his dribbling, he became an even greater threat!
Whenever he had the ball, he either quickly distributed it to teammates or pulled out of the penalty area for a shot.
This Asian was shooting so fast, the Carl Sruhe players couldn't keep up!
Luckily, their goalkeeper was in fine form today.
Commentator Dazui Simon also lauded goalkeeper Ollie Sausen's performance.
"He truly deserves to be the Bundesliga's No. 1 goalkeeper! If he keeps a clean sheet today, it'll be a record 600 minutes without conceding a goal!"
"His goalkeeping technique rivals Neuer's. It might be difficult to score with just long-range shots..."
Kahn watched quietly beside him.
When it came to German goalkeepers, whether Neuer, Weidenfeller, or Ter Stegen,
they all had to defer to Kahn as the "big brother".
In Kahn's eyes, Ollie Sausen was far from flawless.
He had just saved two goals from Su Luo, but he seemed exhausted.
Would there be another chance for a goal?
Union Berlin took the corner, and Matuschka signaled for tactic No. 2.
The teammates understood, and Qiqi made a run.
Su Luo took a few steps back, then suddenly darted forward!
"Stop him!!!"
Ollie Sausen yelled in desperation, rushing to close the angle while also diving towards the near post.
The central defender reacted promptly, moving to block Su Luo's path.
Su Luo had drawn plenty of attention with his earlier activity.
This time, he only feigned an attack,
Originally, he intended to knock the ball back to the midfield and help create opportunities for teammates.
Otherwise, he wouldn't have moved forward, and there wouldn't have been a shooting angle.
At that moment, he felt a shock run through him!
1, 2, 3, 4...
Four successful shots earlier, all four Buffs activated?
So no matter how he hit it, the next shot was destined to go in?
Hmph, sorry about that.
In the eyes of everyone, Su Luo appeared to be preparing to control the ball.
Suddenly, without warning, he executed an unconventional scorpion kick, flicking his heel backward!
The central defender had obstructed the goalkeeper's view.
By the time Ollie Sausen spotted the ball, it was too late!
The ball sneaked past his fingertips and nestled into the net at a bizarre angle!
"What... what just happened?"
The commentator Simon was still in disbelief, while Kahn beside him was already cheering.
"Goal!!! What a shot! Can you believe it?"
Ollie Sausen's clean sheet record was shattered by Su Luo!
"Union Berlin breaks the deadlock, leading Carl Sruhe 1-0!"
"Su Luo scores in four consecutive games, his form is outstanding!"
