Chapter 12: Chapter 11
Soifon shifted in bed, her arms entwined around the slumbering former 12th captain. She gazed at him and smiled, then leaned forward to kiss his chin before slipping out of bed. Pain surged through her body, and she bit her lip.
The raven-haired captain pulled on a black tank top and sweatpants. She ran a quick hand through her hair, not bothering to brush it thoroughly. She wanted to surprise her blonde companion, who was snoring soundly on his back. A soft giggle escaped Soifon's lips.
Exiting the room, she carefully closed the door behind her, ensuring Kisuke's slumber remained undisturbed. She made her way down the hall, struggling to maintain her balance. In her path, she nearly tripped over Yoruichi, who was sprawled out on the floor in her feline form.
"You're in the middle of the floor," Soifon muttered to her former mentor. She cautiously stepped over the black cat, confirming its slumber.
"Captain Soifon," greeted Tessai from the living room. Soifon nodded subtly. "Hi. Can you direct me to the kitchen?" she inquired quietly, leaning against a wall while she endured her pain.
Tessai rushed to her side. "Captain, you should be resting in bed," he said, examining her stomach wound. Orihime had not fully healed Soifon because Soifon had instructed her not to.
"I'm fine," she snapped through clenched teeth, pushing herself off the wall. "Now, please, can you take me to the kitchen?" she requested, her voice calmer now.
Tessai glanced behind Soifon and noticed Yoruichi sitting up, observing her former student. "This way, Captain," he said gently, not wishing to argue with the short-tempered captain.
Yoruichi's golden eyes narrowed as she flicked her tail, watching Soifon follow Tessai into the kitchen. Her tail flicked again as she slowly followed. "Bee, you're being stubborn," she muttered, noticing bloodstains on the floor where Soifon had stood.
Soifon followed Kisuke's assistant into the kitchen. "Thank you, Tessai," she said, walking to the fridge. "Everything you need is in the cupboards and fridge," Tessai replied, leaving the room to avoid further annoyance.
Soifon took out eggs and bacon. She wasn't a meat eater, but she knew Kisuke was and wanted to cook him breakfast.
"You're bleeding on the floor!" Yoruichi's voice made Soifon look up from the stove. "I'm fine," she said, turning back to the food.
Yoruichi opened her mouth to suggest that Tessai make breakfast, but Soifon said, "It's for Kisuke!"
"I can see that, but don't push yourself too hard," Yoruichi advised. Hopping onto the counter, she curled her tail around her paws.
"Yoruichi, get off the counter," Soifon instructed. She lifted the cat and placed it on the floor. Yoruichi protested with a "Hey!"
"No animals on the counter. People make food here," Soifon scolded.
Yoruichi shook her head at Soifon as the captain resumed cooking. Hiding her pain, Yoruichi decided to wake Kisuke and have him prevent his lover from injuring herself further.
Soifon ignored Yoruichi's departure, assuming the older woman was unwilling to tolerate her stubbornness. Alone, she glanced down at her stomach to find it bleeding. She bit her lip.
Despite her exhaustion, the captain continued cooking, determined not to let her wound hinder her from making a simple breakfast. She hoped her former mentor wouldn't wake Kisuke on her account.
( Kisuke)
Kisuke stirred from his slumber, unaware that Soifon was no longer nestled beside him. As he shifted to embrace her, his arm encountered an empty space.
Frowning, he sat up to find his small lover absent from the room. Wondering about her whereabouts, he arose from the futon. Just then, he heard footsteps approaching.
"Soifon, my dear." Kisuke greeted the figure with a sleepy smile, mistaking it for his captain.
"It's not Soifon, Kisuke," Yoruichi corrected in a gentle tone. "She's in the kitchen, harming herself."
Kisuke's eyes widened in alarm. "What do you mean?" he demanded, worry etching across his features. hastily wrapping his emerald robe around his body, he followed Yoruichi out of the room.
"She's preparing breakfast for you," Yoruichi explained.
Kisuke's smile faded when he heard, "But she ended up opening her wound." His voice was clearly upset. "And you didn't stop her?" he asked.
Yoruichi frowned. "I tried," she said, looking up at Kisuke. "But you know Soi Fon as well as I do. When she sets her mind to something, she gets it done."
Kisuke nodded, knowing she was right. "How bad is it?" he asked, hoping it wasn't severe.
"It's not terrible, but it's bleeding," Yoruichi said, heading to the door. "I'm going to get Orihime to finish healing it."
"Good idea. I'll try to convince Soi Fon to rest," Kisuke said, heading to the kitchen.
"Good morning, Mr. Urahara," Ururu greeted him softly, holding a broom.
Kisuke smiled. "Good morning, Ururu," he said, walking past her. He entered the kitchen to see Soi Fon fixing plates, her expression a mixture of peace and pain.
