Chapter 39: Chapter 39: Love
Daenerys collected her thoughts and sat up from the bed, washed up and prepared to go to bed early. Suddenly, she heard two muffled sounds outside the tent, and then the door was pushed open, and an Unsullied wearing a spiked helmet walked in.
"Who are you?" Daenerys asked loudly. Grey Worm and the Unsullied would not break into her tent without announcement.
"Your Majesty, it's me, Daario!" The man took off his spiked helmet and smiled charmingly. He had just smiled halfway when he saw Drogon flying onto Daenerys' shoulder, and his expression froze instantly.
He had expected Daenerys to have a maid in her tent, but he had not expected the little dragon to be there with her, and not with the other two.
Having witnessed the swiftness and precision with which Drogon slit Mero's throat, Daario, who had won several matches in the Meereen Arena and had experienced several major battles, had no confidence in facing Drogon.
"Captain Daario, I wonder what your purpose is in coming here at night?" Knowing that Daario had sneaked in and most likely had bad intentions, Daenerys did not seem afraid.
Having witnessed Drogon intimidating three members of the Second Sons during the day, what's so scary about Daario coming?
Seeing that Drogon had no intention of taking action against him for his intrusion, Daario gradually regained his composure.
"Your Majesty, I originally came here to assassinate you. This was also the intention of Captain Mello and Deputy Captain Planda of the Second Sons, but I do not agree with their decision."
"It seems you have come up with a better idea." Daenerys said to Daario.
"Yes, I decided to bring them to see you in person."
Daenerys frowned and looked at Daario in confusion, not knowing what he meant.
" Guluolulu!"
Dario said, took off the cloth bag on his shoulder, fell to the ground, and two heads rolled out of it. One of them had a long scar on his face. They were Melo and Planda.
Daenerys didn't expect that Daario would use such cruel means to serve her. This reminded her of the former Xaro, and she couldn't help but frowned her delicate brows.
Drogon didn't care about this, he knew that Daario was aiming for Daenerys as queen.
"So what do you want?" Daenerys didn't want to let uncontrollable danger be close to her anymore.
"I am overwhelmed by your demeanor and beauty!" Dario's eyes sparkled.
Daenerys looked Daario in the eye and said, "I killed the last person who said that."
"Then he must not be as sincere as me!" Dario still smiled, not caring at all.
Daenerys did not doubt Daario's words. She saw from his eyes that there was nothing in Xaro's eyes, but the matter was of great importance, and she would not easily take in someone who killed her captain at will.
And she would not agree to his request. She was no longer the mother of dragons who only had herself and her young dragons.
Her dragons were already capable of burning dozens of times her own number of soldiers to death. She had the Queen's Guard, with nearly 10,000 elite troops at her disposal, so she didn't need to sacrifice herself for a few ships.
"I can't possibly agree to that." Daenerys refused decisively.
"It is premature for you to decide, for you do not know me yet." Daario did not seem to care at all about Daenerys's answer.
Daenerys would not be easily moved by his burning eyes and sweet words: "You killed your leader so easily, how can I believe that you won't kill me one day?"
"I joined the Second Sons not to obey the arrogant Melo and the incompetent Planda, I just wanted to join in and train myself."
"And I have only sincerity and truth for you, and they won't allow me to do that."
[What a romantic!] Listening to Daario's affectionate and cheesy words to Dragon Queen, Drogon couldn't help but complain in his heart.
"Say your oath of allegiance!" Daenerys couldn't stand Daario anymore.
Drawing the arakh from his waist, Dario knelt on one knee with the scimitar placed on his knee.
"The Second Sons will be yours, my queen. My sword, my heart, and my life will also belong to you!"
Drogon: [...]
"I accept your allegiance!" Daenerys said solemnly.
The main reason why she accepted Daario was because Drogon knew of his existence and did not object to her accepting his allegiance.
Although Daenerys still doesn't know what a lover means, she thinks Daario will not do anything bad to her, otherwise Drogon will definitely object.
"Your Majesty, I propose that we capture Yunkai tonight," Daario said, standing up.
"Why tonight?" Daenerys asked puzzledly. She did not suspect that Daario had any other bad intentions.
Dario: "The news that I killed Mero and Puranda has not spread yet. The wise lord of Yunkai does not know about it. If he knew, the defense would be more strict."
"And I know there is a small gate that can lead into the city. I only need to take two or three people in and open the gate from the inside, and the army can enter Yunkai."
"Little gate! Is there no one guarding it?" Daenerys asked stupidly.
"They are guarded, but they are very few in number. It only takes a few good hands to take them out."
After hearing what Daario said, Daenerys couldn't help but frown. Varys's little bird letter didn't say that. Could it be that he was so anxious to set a trap for her? Daenerys was undecided.
She glanced at Drogon secretly, but he didn't react. Should she believe him or Varys? Daenerys was even more embarrassed. She hesitated for a moment before saying, "I'll make a decision after I gather Jorah and the others to discuss this matter."
"Of course," Dario responded.
In the council chamber, Barristan, Jorah and others were a little confused at being called in so late. When they saw Daario in the council chamber, they almost drew their swords.
Daenerys explained to everyone the reason for Daario's arrival and everyone relaxed their vigilance. Then she told them Daario's plan.
After hearing the plan, Jorah and others couldn't help but look at Daario with suspicion. He also felt something was wrong at this time.
"When did you go through that little door?" Jorah asked.
"I haven't been there. Some of the Second Sons mercenaries would go in through the small door at night to have fun."
After listening to this, Qiao La looked at the others.
"Are you planning to bring our best men in and catch them all in one swoop?" Barristan asked.
The only capable men under Daenerys are generals. If that were the case, she would have no one to use.
"You know that little door?" Daario roughly knew why they looked at him like that, including Daenerys's expression when she first heard the plan.
No one spoke for a moment, but looked at Daenerys, letting her make the decision.
"The small door has been heavily guarded by many soldiers. If a few people go in, they will die!" Daenerys stared at Daario, wanting to hear his explanation.
Daario's face also changed slightly after hearing this. He had just vowed to be loyal to Daenerys, but then he turned around and led her generals into a trap. No matter what he said, it would be hard to believe him.
After hesitating for a while, he said, "Perhaps the small gate was closely guarded after the mercenary left."
