Temari, the acting Kazekage, exchanged a listless glance with Kankuro. Sand had lost everything. Their brother Gaara had been kidnapped and killed, their father Rasa had been killed by Shisui and Itachi, and their village was in ruins. The siblings looked at the gathered leaders coldly, as if the fate of the world was of no concern to them.
"How do you plan to stop it?" Temari's voice was sharp, cutting through the tense air.
Hashirama sighed, admitting his incapability. "I don't know. I discovered the scroll to open the door long ago and kept it in Konoha to study it. I hoped I would be able to close it one day, but before I could..." His voice trailed off, the weight of the situation evident on his face.
Others looked troubled, processing the gravity of his words. Temari spoke again, her tone laced with bitterness. "Then we are leaving. Sand has no force to help you nor can we assist in something the God of Shinobi fails."
Enraged, Raikage stepped forward, his fists clenched. "Don't you care about the fate of the world?"
Temari laughed, her voice cold and hollow. "My world was destroyed in your war, the one you turned your back on us. Sand was left to fend for itself while you played heroes. We have nothing left to give."
A clenched his fists, ready to blast this insolent girl who dared to talk to him this way, but B placed a hand on his shoulder. "Stop, brother," B said, his voice calm yet firm. "This isn't the time for more conflict."
The tension in the air was palpable, each leader struggling with their own thoughts and emotions. Mei, the Mizukage, looked at Hashirama with a mix of concern and determination. "We need a solution, and we need it fast. Our villages can't withstand an invasion from another realm."
Hashirama nodded, his face set with grim resolve. "We need to gather every available resource, every shinobi, and even civilians if necessary. This is a fight for our very existence."
Others nodded, gathering their forces en masse while Temari and Kankuro left silently. As they made their way towards the Sand Village, two cloaked figures emerged from the shadows, intercepting their path. One figure, his voice raspy and cold, spoke first, "What's the situation?"
Temari's gaze was steely as she explained, "They're trying to close the portal, but it's uncertain if they'll succeed."
The second cloaked figure extended his hand, a scroll materializing in his grasp. "Is everything in order?" Temari inquired, her voice flat.
The figure's hidden face hinted at a smirk as he replied, "Yes. With this, Sand won't need money for a long time."
Temari accepted the scroll with a nod, then turned away. Kankuro hesitated, looking back at the vanishing figures. "Is this wise, sister? We've sold the strongest people in the world out."
Temari's eyes were cold and unyielding. "They abandoned us, watched us suffer. Why should we care about them?" Her tone left no room for argument, and Kankuro, unable to refute, followed in silence.
On the other side of the portal, the air was thick with anticipation and unease. The portal itself stirred ominously, its energy pulsating with malevolent intent. The gathered shinobi forces, numbering over two hundred thousand, formed into six distinct battle divisions, and four special divisions.
The Kage stood at the forefront, their expressions a mixture of determination and grim resolve. They were aware of the gravity of the situation, knowing that the enemy they faced was mostly unknown. Tales of the horrible Specters had circulated for years, but now that the portal was open, new rumors started spread, describing it as a realm filled with numerous races, many of which were far more terrifying than the Shinigami themselves. These specters were said to possess the power to obliterate Kages in mere seconds, a chilling thought that hung over the assembled forces like a dark cloud.
The First Division, comprised of mid-range fighters, was under the command of Darui. His keen strategic mind and experience made him a natural leader. These fighters, armed with a variety of jutsu and weapons, were tasked with engaging the enemy at a distance where they could utilize their skills most effectively. Darui stood at the forefront, directing his troops with precision. His division was crucial in creating a buffer zone, preventing the specters from closing in on the more vulnerable units.
The Second Division, led by Kitsuchi, specialized in close-range combat. These warriors were the backbone of the defense, ready to meet the enemy head-on. Kitsuchi, a towering figure with immense strength, inspired his troops with his unwavering resolve. They were the shield that protected the other divisions, their determination and brute force crucial in holding the line against the oncoming specters.
Kakashi Hatake commanded the Third Division, a versatile group capable of both close- and mid-range combat. His leadership was characterized by adaptability and quick thinking. Kakashi’s division was the most flexible, able to shift roles and positions as needed to respond to the dynamic battlefield. With his vast experience, Kakashi could anticipate enemy movements, coordinating his fighters to exploit any weaknesses. This division was essential in maintaining fluidity and support across the entire front.
Haku led the Fourth Division, which consisted solely of long-range fighters. His mastery of ice release techniques allowed him to control the battlefield from a distance. The long-range fighters, equipped with bows, kunai, and elemental jutsu, created a deadly barrage that kept the specters at bay. This division included ninja with unique skills and abilities, making them the perfect team for critical and covert missions. Shino, with his expertise in insect-based jutsu, commanded a diverse group capable of performing a variety of tasks, from sabotage to intelligence gathering. Their versatility and ability to operate behind enemy lines made them invaluable in disrupting the specters’ strategies.
In addition to these combat divisions, four special divisions were formed to support the war effort. The Logistical Support and Medical Division, led by Tsunade, included medical ninja like Hinata and Shizune. Their primary task was to heal the wounded and ensure that supplies were efficiently distributed. Tsunade’s unparalleled medical expertise and leadership ensured that the shinobi forces remained in fighting condition, despite the grueling conditions of battle.
The Surprise Attack Division, commanded by Zabuza, specialized in ambush tactics. This division was tasked with launching unexpected attacks on the specters, striking swiftly and retreating before the enemy could mount a counteroffensive. Zabuza’s experience as a rogue ninja and his proficiency in stealth made him the ideal leader for this unit, which played a key role in weakening the specters’ advance.
The Sensor Division, led by Karin, was responsible for detecting enemy movements and providing vital intelligence. Karin’s exceptional sensory abilities allowed her to pinpoint the specters’ locations and movements, enabling the shinobi forces to respond swiftly and strategically. This division acted as the eyes and ears of the army, ensuring that no surprise attacks caught them off guard.
Finally, the Intelligence Division, headed by Ino Yamanaka, was tasked with gathering information and relaying it to the strategic leaders, including Hashirama, Mito, and Kenji Uzumaki. Ino’s mind transfer techniques and her ability to access and share information quickly made her the perfect leader for this division. Their work was crucial in formulating effective strategies and adapting to the rapidly changing battlefield conditions.
