Chapter 220: Treasury Mechanisms

"This is the last reward for your efforts. Don't consider yourself lucky as you have obtained it with your own effort." Elder said before handing over the Key of the treasury to Whittaker.

He had given Whittaker a challenge to reach the 31st floors of the Monster Tower within two months. However, Whittaker did it in merely three weeks. He was impressed and satisfied with his student. Thus, he handed over the key to the treasury with a respectful remark.

"Thanks for the trust!" Whittaker gladly accepted the key to the treasury from his hands.

"By the way, I have never seen the treasury of the Zachary Palace. Where is it located?" Whittaker asked.

He has been in the Zachary Palace for nearly a month. He has searched every nook and corner of this place but has never seen anything that could remotely resemble the treasury of a place.

"It's hidden in a secret place. If you want we can go together and search for it." Elder Zachary said.

"Yes, let's go together." Whittaker said before asking: "Though why is the treasury hidden?"

"When father created the house, he had spent more or less a hundred thousand mana crystal. He had modified the palace by inscribing spatial teleportation magical rune designs in every place of the palace. It was done for the purpose of safety. I can proudly say that only the top 2% of the top-notch assassin can sneak their way into the palace."

The entire awakened continent only had 100 top-notch assassins. What she means to say is that only two peoples have the ability to sneak into Zachary's palace unnoticed.

"A hundred thousand mana crystal!" Whittaker sucked in a mouthful of breath when he heard the astronomical amount mentioned by Nina.

It could be considered a huge amount of money. The expenditure of the entire Frost Fall City could be afforded by that amount for literally three years; however, this much amount couldn't compare to the deep pockets of the royal families. But it still wasn't something that could be gathered in a hundred years by normal means.

Mana crystals were hard to obtain. They were mostly found in dungeons naturally created by nature. These dungeons had a certain chance of death and were graded into four difficulties. As for what they are, it will be explained shortly.

"As for the treasury, it's hidden so that no one will have a chance to take a dip in it. Not even the God of thieves have a chance to take a thing from the treasury. Hehe, it's located in a secret place that even I and father don't know of." Nina proudly said.

"Then, how are we gonna locate it?" Whitaker asked with a mystified look.

Either they have a way to locate the treasury of Zachary's palace or they are dumb?

"Naturally, we have a way to locate the Treasury. Although we don't know where the treasury is located, we still have a treasure that can open a spatial pathway that connects directly to the treasury." Elder Zachary said.

The Treasury of the Zachary Palace is located somewhere in the Awakened continent. Plus, the treasury kept on teleporting at different hidden locations throughout the year. It was simply impossible to locate it. Even if a person did locate the treasury, it will simple teleport to another hidden place. This was the great defensive system Zachary erected to protect his wealth from expert thieves.

"Where is the treasure?" Whittaker asked.

"It's hidden in the Palace library. Elder Zachary said before signaling Nina to lead them and Whittaker to move his wheelchair.

Whittaker gladly helped his teacher out. He never had a grandpa. His teacher filled this hole. And he liked to help him out as it feels like he is helping his own grandpa. As he had spent time with them, Whittaker had taken them as his family members.

"The treasure automatically shifts place from the library for mages to the library of battle master and vice versa with the change is the day. Today is the last 28th of the second month. The Treasure is located in the library called Battle Master World ." Nina explained to Whittaker before leading them there.

They met Goguard and he respectfully allowed them entry into the library.

"Listen well, the treasure is the only way to the treasury. The key is the thing that is used to unlock the treasure. The treasure is somewhere on the bookshelves inside this building. And it looks no different than a book." Elder Zachary said with a mysterious tone.

"What? But there are more than ten thousand books in this building. And there are ten floors. It will take a lot of time if we search for the treasure in the library. And how would we know that it's the treasure if it looks no different than a book?" Whittaker asked with a shocked expression.

"There are three ways to differentiate the treasure from the other book. You will be the next master of the palace so remember this information by heart. First of all, the treasure has a rough ancient cover that looks no different than ancient weary diaries. However, it has a key-shaped hole in the middle. You can put the key to the treasury in it to open the treasure. Secondly, the pages of the treasure are all golden and a spatial pathway array is inscribed in them. Lastly, the treasure can be located by using the Pure-Mana spell, [Mana pulse Releasing Magic Eye]. The treasure is specially made to react to this spell." Elder Zachary explained before signaling Nina to perform the spell.

This Pure mana spell condensed magical Eyes that are linked to the creator's mana pool and obtain the necessary obtain of mana from their working from there. The number of magical eyes depends on the amount of mana used. The owner of the magical eyes will see whatever the eyes see. Each magical eye would be like a pair of eyes for the caster, and everything they saw would appear in the mage's mind. The distance doesn't matter.

Furthermore, the eyes were famously used to locate the treasures that react wildly under pulses of mana. Although it is a famous pure mana spell, only a few families know how to cast it.

"Little brother, look carefully at my hand. I am going to perform the hand signs for the pure mana spell for you to memorize." Nina said before she started performing the hand signs for the spell which Elder Zachary just mentioned.

Whittaker's eyes were glued to her petty hands. Thanks to Photographic memory and Devansha's vision, he easily memorized this new pure-mana spell.

Nina took a minute and skillfully executed various hand signs to cast the pure mana spell. In the very moment, hundreds of eyes made purely out of mana condensed around them. Then Nina controlled them to wander all the ten floors of the building and find the treasure.

Nina made it look easy but the average high-rank mage could at most use three to five Mage Eyes, not many could be like her, releasing a hundred Mana Pulse releasing eyes at a single moment, and apparently controlling all of them without feeling the slightest bit of strain.

Each Mana Pulse releasing eye needed extremely accurate control over both mana and the eye. The person manually needs to transmit mana to the eye through the link so that it won't vanish.

"Wow," Whittaker witnessed the effect of the magical eyes and categorized it as an extremely useful spell. It could be used to scout a dangerous place. It could be used to track treasures. And there might be more useful effect to these eyes, who knows what surprise this pure mana spell might bring.

Under Nina's control, the hundreds of Eyes wandered throughout the entire building, searching for the treasure.

After a minute, the magic eye on the seventh floor released a blinding light. At the very moment, a book hidden on the 36th shelf of the 7th floor began to flicker in bluish mana light.

"It's there!" Nina and Elder shouted before heading for a teleportation portal that led to the 7th floor.

Whittaker followed them. After reaching the eye that continuously shot out blinding mana pulse, they instantly glanced at the 36th bookshelf.

"This book is the treasure!" Elder Zachary while pointing at the 3rd book on the 3rd row of the 36th shelf. It was easy to detect because it was flickering with blue light each time the eye shot out a pulse of mana.

Whittaker took the book out of the shelf. He put the key inside the hole and the book opened up. The pages inside the book were golden and a spatial-type array was inscribed on the pages.

This really was the book!

"Give it to me. The books require 10000 units of mana to open a spatial pathway to the treasury. Remember this too, the teleportation array inside the treasure can only be activated once a year." Elder Zachary said.

'That means I can visit the treasury only once a year,' Whittaker thought before handing over the treasure to Elder Zachary.

He poured a massive amount of mana into the treasure. In the very next moment, a spatial pathway opened up in front of them.

"This pathway will lead us directly to the treasury. Hurry up before it closes." Nina said before the group entered the spatial pathway.

It was long and took them a minute of mindlessly traveling ahead in the gloomy tunnel like a spatial pathway to reach the other end.

The treasury was extremely dark. However, the moment the three appeared, the Light Orbs placed in the treasury activated. The balls released a bright yet gentle light and illuminated the treasury.

What followed after was an exclamation of joy. In Whittaker's snowy icy eyes, bluish crystal glitter.

There were at least a hundred thousand mana crystals in this place!
