Gaming Sword Magician

Chapter 241: The test of combat!

After passing this exam with flying colors, Yato turned to look at Ruth, who was having a hard time what magical ability he should use.

"The correct to pass this time is to use a burst type or similar magic." Yato said, "Us new students didn't get enough time to proficiently control mana. Some of us haven't even learned telekinesis, moreover. And it seems like the boulder is a bad consuctor of mana, otherwise class president – who have a excellent control over mana – would not be having such a hard time. Therefore, the teacher was trying to bait us in using telekinesis."

From his advice, Ruth got an excellent idea.

"I get it. Thanks for the help." He expressed his gratitude before staring at the iron boulder before him. 'Although I don't have exactly have a burst type elemental spell. I can combine ignition with oil spray to create a blast!"'

Ruth summoned his spellbook and also used the spells simultaneously. After the oil sprayed out the ignition spell created a large blast that was concentrated in a single point and caused the iron boulder to shoot through the skies, dropping right besides Yato's boulder.

"Nice one!" Yato raised his hands for a hand clap.

"It's mostly thanks to you," Ruth replied before a clapping sound of enjoyment echoes. Although he still was a introvert, he has taken few steps towards the bright side, and started to socialize more.

Ruth and Yato weren't innately talented like Whittaker and other students, who have an excellent control over mana due to their bloodline and genes. They utilized their brain, and managed to obtain an excellent result.

Meanwhile, Whittaker sleepily raised his hands and performed the hand signs of pure-mana spell telekinesis. Soon, his mana was projected over the iron boulder. The boulder levitated and shoot forward under Whittaker's command.

In a while, under the amazed stares of everyone, his boulder passed by the 90 meter mark and soon after, crossed the goal. Though it still kept on going until Whittaker decided it was enough and that he have impressed the teachers and examiners.

His result shocked everyone equally. Though Shadow was also able to reach the goal by carrying the boulder. They both got an equal result of S+ (Superb).

Whittaker sulked internally. There was no reward for over performance, after all. His presence was like a light bulb among firefly. Everyone noticed him this time.

Meanwhile, Lancaster and Larry conducted he examination of the next batch.

"A few examiners will arrive in this area in a few minutes. They will take those who passed this test to the next testing area. So wait at the sides for now." They told the students before conducting the exams for the next batch.

Whittaker and the other mages stood on one sides while Shadow and other battle masters stood on the opposite side and waited for the examiners to lead them to the next testing area.

Ruth and Yato walked up to Whittaker, and said, "Hey, it's been a while,"

Whittaker had left a deep impression on Yato, as he had learned one spell after another, and that too in mere days before vanishing for months, and now he was toping the charts in the examination.

"Nice to see you guys." Whittaker replied, he was feeling excited as he was finally socializing with people his age.

"Where have you been?"

"You guys don't know? I surely told our homeroom teacher that I became Elder Zachary inheritor!"

"Zachary? Who is that?" Yato didn't know who Zachary was as he had been busy with filling up his mana pool and barely went to the library to gain knowledge.

"Zachary? Do you mean the honorary Wind King? The only rank-10 formation master?" Ruth was so surprised that he blurted more than one sentence. At first, he had the habit of ending conversation with one word, but nowadays, his conversation skill has evolved and he could speak an entire sentence.

"Yes," Whittaker nodded.

They conversed passionately before the examiners came to the second training ground and led the students, who managed to poss this test, to the next testing ground.

In the next testing area, there were over a hundred circles, each with one hundred human-shaped puppets made out of enchanted wood.

"This is the test of combattere. As you can see, these puppets can move on their own. They can defend and attack themselves against attack. Your task is to enter a circle and annihilate the hundred puppets within 60 minutes, but I advise you to be fast in dealing with them, as these puppets are an aggressive bunch and you will generate aggression from all of them, even if you attack a single puppet." The next examiner, who was a bald headed man and wearing thick green military uniform that was styled after a falcon said while smoking and puffing out rings of smoke.

The other examiner took over to explain the remaining rules of this test, "You will pass with the lowest grade if you destroy 35 puppets before being pushed out of the circle or being beaten beaten puppets, and the grade will increase according to how many puppets you defeat and the amount of time taken."

"Any questions?"

"Will there be a problem if we destroy these puppets?"

"These puppets can automatically reconstruct. So, you guys can go all out and destroy them as you like, there won't be any problems even if you shatter them into thousand pieces." Hillary said, "With that said, let's begin the exam!"

She was a pink haired middle aged teacher and was wearing track suits. Though she was an high-rank mage. She called a hundred names and the students went inside the circles and sparred with the puppets.

"Shadow Williams, Yato Yamamoto, Ruth Rutherford, and Peter Chuck, please enter the circle to take your test."

Once they heard their names being called up, each of them started to walk ahead and entered the circles, but they were prepared to take this test, as they had seen the others – who were the unlucky ones and the first to take this test – and learned from their mistakes.

They knew that once a single puppet is attacked then all the puppets will be activated and target them, aggressively beat them before hurling them out of the circles like a ragdoll.

They all smiled.

The best way to pass this exam was to give your 100% at the very start and use the powerful powerful AOE spell or Battle skill to damage as many puppets as possible.
