43: Disturbing Preview
After breakfast and a break, let’s hold a house tour for everyone.
Come on, everyone, follow me~.
This flag is the marker~.
Although, there isn’t actually a flag~.
The freshly completed house was surrounded by a wooden fence.
Rose vines with fresh green leaves were entwined around the fence, and for some reason, anti-weed herbs were densely planted at the base.
These climbing roses will bloom beautifully in early summer.
At the arched entrance, there was a cute gate adorned with a design of birds and ivy. On top of the arch, there was an ornament of a dwarf holding a lamp, and on the gateposts beside it, there were pairs of white and black cat statues.
Oh my, it’s super cute.
It’s like wandering into a fairy tale world!
So exciting~!
When you pass through the gate, cherry blossom petals flutter gently.
“Oh, how elegant!” Old Al exclaimed in admiration.
I get it—it’s beautiful.
“This tree is called sakura. It blooms pale pink flowers only once in early spring.”
Yes, sakura is the spiritual home of Japanese people!
In summer, it’s also a tree of fear, showering us with white-spotted tussock moth caterpillars.
Various plants were growing thickly at the base of the cherry tree.
Next to the path leading to the house was a water feature where birds chirped.
At the end of the path was a small brick house with a wooden deck.
When I stepped up to the deck and touched the front door, it chimed and opened.
Apparently, it responds to my magic.
Inside the door was a large work table in a kitchen-living room combo.
“Oh! It’s spacious,” I exclaimed.
“Is it?” Father, peering curiously from behind, seemed puzzled.
Father’s room is over four times the size of mine.
Isn’t it spacious enough?
And I’m small.
Even the smallest person here says it’s spacious, so it is spacious.
Guri and Poko are nodding beside me!
While I was mumbling, everyone else started exploring the house on their own.
Wait a minute!
You can’t go ahead of the tour guide!
You must not disrupt the group activity!
Barton checked the cabinets and drawers for anything dangerous, Jeff tested the functionality of the island kitchen, and the vassals Uncle Roy and Kevin (first appearance) tested the comfort of the sofa and chairs.
Why?
Martha was enjoying the patterns and textures of the curtains and cushions.
What are you all doing?
Ignoring my questions, Old Al and Father each opened one of the two doors in the back.
One seemed to be a washroom, but peeking into the other, both of them froze.
Hmm? What’s up?
I toddled over and peeked between their legs.
Huh? It’s not a restroom?
There was a large storage room filled with various plants in jars on shelves.
It was many times larger than the previous room and bright.
The ceiling was vaulted, reminiscent of a foreign circular library, but with jars and boxes instead of books.
There were also some houseplants.
Bookshelves along the walls held several books, and the long, central table had what looked like lab equipment.
I saw beakers, flasks, and something like a heating stove.
Are those herb-mixing tools?
And that copper apparatus—could it be a distiller?
And what’s that large cauldron further in?
Um… doesn’t the exterior of this house clearly differ from the area here?
Far, far in the back of the storage room, there was another door.
Huh?
A bad sweat started running down my back.
I slipped between the two of them, dashed across the excessively large storage room, and put my hand on the strangely decorated door.
Father’s voice, startled by my sudden movement, echoed in the spacious room.
“Wait! Haku!?”
Ignoring Father’s halt, I flung the door open!
Blinding light dazzled my eyes.
As my eyes adjusted to the light, I saw a blue sky, green mountains, and familiar rice fields.
The gentle wind and the sound of a stream were comforting.
Cute houses stood along the paths, and tiny spirits danced in the air.
There was the familiar, idyllic scenery of a fairy-tale mountain village.
“What!?”
I couldn’t help but scream loudly!
Father, who had hurriedly followed me, froze in astonishment while holding me from behind.
Calm down, me!
I recognize this place.
Plant Cultivation Skill?
Is this place… could it really be…?
‘This leads to the Botanical Garden.’
“Eek!”
Plant Cultivation Skill!
How terrifying!
“What is this! What a magnificent sight!”
Old Al, catching up to Father and me, exclaimed with shining eyes and excitement, “Is this paradise!?” His voice echoed.
The others, who had also rushed after us, stood there speechless.
It’s clearly a different scene from the real world!
I can feel the dense magical power filling the air.
Weaker people might not be able to stand.
Only the wise Old Al seemed thrilled, almost delirious with joy.
Uncle Roy and Kevin were desperately holding him back from running off.
Well, everyone, calm down a bit?
Hmm, this must be my skill, the Interdimensional Botanical Garden.
It looks like Skill has done something.
How am I supposed to explain this?
Isn’t this too much?
My secret is no longer a secret!
“I shall explain. Meeh.”
Meeh?
Everyone turned to the sudden voice.
Against the backdrop of blue skies and green mountains, a cute, fluffy black sheep dressed in a butler’s outfit, the same size as Guri and the others, was floating!
Whoa!
