Gardening Life With Plant Magic: Haku and the Spirits’ Botanical Garden

48: Mr. Bee's Move

The bees that helped pollinate the radberries have decided to swarm and move to the garden of the annex.

The spirits invited them to move to our home while they were looking for a safe place to live.

In return, they shared their honey with us.

How nice!

There are fruit trees, herbs, and flowers planted in the garden of the annex, so it should be fine, right?

There’s also a field outside the garden and a rose garden in the front yard.

When I consulted Mee-Mee, she immediately set up a beehive.

Such prompt action!

The queen bee seemed to like it, and the move was completed without any issues.

So, I consulted with Father.

“The bees have moved to the garden of the annex, so can I plant flowers outside the edamame field?”

When I showed him the jar of honey as a thank-you gift, Father smiled wryly.

“Haku, your friends are quite unique.”

Well, yes. I do have unusual friends.

Hehe.

“I’ll tell the household that the bees are Haku’s friends. Be careful when you go outside, alright?”

“Yes. Thank you, Father.”

Sorry for being such a handful, Dad.

I love you!

With permission granted, I went outside with Grandpa Al, Burton, and our attendant Isaac.

Of course, the spirits are always with us!

Skipping happily!

This time, Poko is tilling the soil for the flower bed, and we are planting the flower seeds there.

“Fuu and Isaac, please scatter the seeds with wind!”

“Okay!”

The spirits are starting to speak more, even if it’s just single words.

Their cute responses warm my heart.

“Got it.”

Isaac, who can use wind magic, gave a less-than-enthusiastic reply.

“You’re not very motivated, are you? No honey for you! Carol will be sad!”

I pretended to cry.

“………”

Isaac squinted at me, then obediently took the bag of seeds.

Alright, let’s get those flowers blooming!

Isaac is thirty now, so he’s leveled up from being a big brother to an uncle!

Even a handsome guy looks like an uncle to me!

“I’ll help too!”

Grandpa Al said cheerfully, using wind magic to scatter the seeds.

As expected of a sage, Grandpa Al can use all magic except fire magic!

He’s an elf of the forest people, after all.

The seeds soared through the air on the wind.

After spreading them far and wide, Kuu sprinkled water, and we were done.

We planted spring-blooming flower seeds, so they should grow on their own.

Since the seeds contain the magical power of the plant spirit Guri, they should sprout soon!

I look forward to seeing this wasteland turn into a colorful carpet!

Plants bring joy to the heart!

In autumn, we can plant lots of lotus and nemophila seeds.

Just thinking about it makes me happy!

By late May, the roses began to bloom!

This wonderful season has arrived again!

It’s no time to be studying in the annex.

Following Martha’s instructions, I put on a cute hat and light outerwear and dashed into the garden.

The rich scent of roses tickled my nose.

Vivid colors danced before my eyes.

I passed through the arch of roses and reached the gazebo.

I think I was born into this world to see this view.

Ah, this is paradise.

Everyone was watching me with gentle eyes as I admired the roses in a daze.

I’m truly grateful to be born here, in this house.

I’m really happy!

“Hey, Haku. You’re in a great mood. But I understand your feelings. This garden is wonderful! It’s as beautiful as God’s miniature garden!”

Grandpa Al praised it highly!

It feels good to be complimented!

Mmm!

The spirits were also flying freely around the rose garden in the wind!

They look so happy; I’m a little envious!

Seeing my excitement, Burton quietly offered me cold fruit water.

“Master Haku, here’s some fruit water. It’s a bit warm today, so please drink it to stay hydrated. I’ve prepared iced tea for Alcheleed-sama.”

Oh, iced tea.

Is that also from Mee-Mee?

I wondered, and for some reason, Mee-Mee was sitting in the seat next to me.

Is it okay for a butler to be sitting?

“Today, I’m not a butler.”

Huh?

Now that you mention it, today Mee-Mee is wearing a black poncho!

But, isn’t he still wearing his butler uniform underneath…?

I swallowed those words.

Mee-Mee was staring intently at me.

His gaze is as intense as ever!

“Your choice of words is incorrect.”

Grrr.

“Oh, Mee-Mee, good day. I’ll prepare some fruit water right away.”

Burton interacted with him normally.

Doesn’t he feel any discomfort?

Soon, Guri and the others returned, sat in the shade, and received fruit water from Burton.

I drank some fruit water too.

The refreshing sweetness spread through my mouth.

It’s delicious~.

“Oh, right… Hey, Burton? Do you think Lady Cecilia will come this year too?”

Burton thought for a moment before answering my question.

“There has been no advance notice of her visit, but considering what happened last year, we should prepare just in case.”

Burton nodded to himself, confirming his own thoughts.

“That’s right. So, it might be better if the annex isn’t seen, huh?”

Given Lady Cecilia’s personality, she would definitely barge into the fairy tale house.

“Indeed…”

Burton also had a troubled look on his face, deep in thought.

If someone of higher rank gives an order, no one in our house can refuse.

Nobles are troublesome.

Then Grandpa Al finished his iced tea and spoke up.

“Are you talking about Lady Cecilia, the margravine?”

“Yes, that’s correct. She might visit to see the rose garden for Master Haku’s birthday.”

“Hmm,” Grandpa Al thought, while requesting a refill from Burton.

“If we say the annex was built as my residence, even the margravine wouldn’t be able to interfere. Surely, she wouldn’t rudely barge into the house of a ‘sage.'”

He smiled and winked, saying he is quite famous.

I see, I see.

“I’ll also cast a concealment spell to make it look like a regular house instead of a fairy tale one.”

Mee-Mee said this while drinking fruit water.

He subtly disses me sometimes.

What’s wrong with fairy tales?

Cute is justice, you know?
