52: Everyone's Happy?
The next day, I went to the backyard with Ren and Riol. Riol was amazed by the more developed back garden compared to last year, but when he saw the fairy-tale house surrounded by trees a little further away, he narrowed his eyes and remained silent.
Ren complimented, “It’s such a cute house!”
When we reached the gate, I introduced my brothers to Kuro and Shiro.
“Good morning, Kuro, Shiro. These are my brothers, Ren and Riol. Please get along.”
“Nice to meet you, Ren!”
“Nice to meet you, Riol!”
Kuro and Shiro called them brothers without hesitation…
“Hello, nice to meet you, I’m Ren, the eldest!”
“…I’m Riol, the second son. Nice to meet you.”
Ren greeted cheerfully without any doubt, but Riol glanced at me before introducing himself with a beautiful smile. It was full of implications. I could feel a cold stare, but being surprised by this much would make it hard to be my brother!
After saying goodbye to Kuro and Shiro, we quickly crossed the detached garden and arrived at the door, where I raised my voice and opened the door.
“Good morning! Are you up, Grandpa Al?”
“Good morning. I’m up, Haku. Oh, do we have guests today?”
Still in his nightgown, Grandpa Al was having breakfast. At the kitchen counter, Mee-Mee was floating with a frilly apron. The cute apron was handmade by Martha!
“Good morning, Haku. Welcome, guests. Please have a seat.”
Seeing my brothers standing dumbfounded at the entrance, I introduced them.
“Brothers, that’s Grandpa Al over there, and this is Mee-Mee. They live in this house. And these two are my brothers, Ren and Riol.”
My crude introduction made Grandpa Al laugh heartily.
“Haha! Nice to meet you, I’m Grandpa Al!”
“I’m Mee-Mee, the caretaker of this house.”
Mee-Mee looked at me with empty eyes. Please, not that look!
For now, I had my brothers sit down. The spirits flew to the sofa by the window, settled in their favorite spots, and relaxed. Lately, there are more cushions and items by the window.
I climbed into my usual seat and sat down, then Mee-Mee brought drinks.
“Today’s drink is lemon tea. Please add sugar to your liking.”
She placed the lemon tea and a pot of beet sugar in front of us. The spirits lined up one by one to receive their drinks. They are such good kids. Just watching them warms my heart. So cute.
“Grandpa Al’s full name is Arsheleed, known as the Sage of Dawn. He came here to study magic herb cultivation and is currently living in this house.”
When I reintroduced him, my brothers’ eyes widened in astonishment.
“…Huh!? The Sage of Dawn!?”
Then, Ren suddenly came to his senses and greeted him politely. Riol turned pale and then red, acting unusual and fidgety. What’s going on?
While I was watching absentmindedly, Mee-Mee’s face suddenly got close to mine.
“Only Haku can stay so carefree in front of the famous Sage of Dawn.”
Too close! My vision is completely black! Scary, back off!!
After the greetings, Grandpa Al began talking with Riol cheerfully. Riol was asking questions enthusiastically. Ren, for some reason, was having a pleasant conversation with Mee-Mee. Can they really have a lively chat despite their opposite personalities? Ren’s sociability is a mystery.
I got bored, so I moved to the sofa to join the spirits. Isn’t it hot being all huddled together? It’s much cooler inside the detached house because of the full air conditioning. They use wind magic to circulate the air. Sitting snugly with everyone makes me sleepy… Yawn. It’s still morning, but let’s take a nap together… Mumble, mumble.
Later, Riol praised me a lot.
“Well done! Thank you for inviting Arsheleed to our home! It’s such a blessing to receive teachings from the Sage of Dawn! Thank you, Haku!”
He hugged me excitedly. Spinning around, I was being spun around, whirling!
I’m dizzy… I feel wobbly… I ended up collapsing onto the sofa.
Hmm, even though he said it with a big smile, I didn’t do anything?
Grandpa Al just came here on his own and settled in on his own. Recently, he handed over various top-quality potions to my father as “rent.” My father was flustered and humbled, but Grandpa Al had happily made them using the herbs and equipment from my warehouse. He was ecstatic when he found a large amount of moonlight grass and clair grass.
Apparently, there were other unknown herbs mixed in my warehouse, and he combined them to create mysterious potions. Moreover, Yue was flattered by Grandpa Al and cast her Shalala~ magic. Potions infused with Yue’s magic became legendary quality, and Grandpa Al clapped his hands in joy.
What are you doing? Please don’t make anything we can’t let outside. Mee-Mee, please keep anything above top-quality inside! Stash them in the depths of the warehouse! Stash them!!
Anyway, since Grandpa Al will be here for a while, Riol should absorb his knowledge as much as possible. With Riol around, I don’t have to study, right? I’m rooting for you, so study hard~~
As the old saying goes, use whatever you can, even if it’s Grandpa.
“That’s not a saying.”
Oh, Mee-Mee corrected me. Oops.
