Gardening Life With Plant Magic: Haku and the Spirits’ Botanical Garden

56: Botanical Garden Tour 2

We decided to take a walk through Märchen Town.

As we walked along the path where spring flowers bloomed profusely, colorful little houses stood scattered among the trees. Flowers were also planted in the windows and under the eaves of the houses.

There was a small pond, and we could see a flower park.

It feels like we’ve wandered into the world of the little spirits, and it’s so much fun!

As we walked, feeling excited, the little spirits flew out with a whoosh, and glittering particles of light surrounded us.

Everyone was smiling and welcoming us.

It’s a big welcome!

“I feel like a giant,” Grandfather Al said, smiling as he played with the little spirits.

Here, you are definitely a giant, right?

Father and Burton were also smiling.

I received a small flower, so I gave them magic power in return.

They are all so cute.

It makes me feel fluffy and warm.

The little spirits were about thirty centimeters tall. On the screen, they looked like they had two heads, but here, they looked like they had three heads!

Guri and the others are about fifty centimeters tall.

I wonder what the difference is between those who can go outside and those who cannot?

“If all of them went out into the real world, it would be a big deal. The stronger ones in each attribute can materialize. Guri and the others have the power of a high-level spirit even in that form. The spirits living here are mostly mid-level spirits. For your information, most of the spirits living in Radcliffe Territory are low-level spirits without form,” Mee-Mee explained.

Apparently, Mee-Mee is also of the high-level class.

He puffed out his chest proudly.

I see, I see.

“The number of low-level spirits in Radcliffe Territory has increased significantly. Now they fly all over the villages and forests, and for those who can see them, at night they must look like shining stars on the ground. Recently, some individuals have become stronger, so they may soon be able to materialize. Radcliffe Territory might become known as the ‘Forest of Spirits,'” Mee-Mee said.

What?

Isn’t it just here?

Are you saying my influence is affecting the real world too?

Is it increasing naturally?

I looked up and saw Father and Burton staring at me silently.

Eh?

“We have planted a lot of demon-repellent grass grown with Haku-sama’s plant magic, so Haku-sama’s magic power is permeating the villages, roads, and forests,” Mee-Mee added the final blow, which was a critical hit.

Ahhhhh!!

I also spread a lot of compost and fertilizer!

“But that’s not a bad thing. With the increase in demon-repellent grass and spirits, the number of monster sightings should have decreased. What do you think, Father?” Mee-Mee looked up at Father and tilted his head.

Father crossed his arms, stroked his chin, and nodded as if he had come to a realization.

“Now that you mention it, since the discovery of the orc settlement last year, the number of encounters with large groups has decreased. Encounters with goblins and forest wolves, which used to be all over the forest, are also rare,” Father said.

Both are monsters that live in groups throughout the forest.

“Even low-level spirits in large numbers can repel filthy monsters. If we can create a forest where spirits and humans coexist, it will contribute to the development of Radcliffe Territory,” Mee-Mee said.

Father had a serious look on his face and seemed to be deep in thought.

Burton smiled quietly and looked at me gently.

“Interesting story! It’s rare for a monster forest to turn into a spirit forest. The opposite is also true. But it’s unusual for spirits to be close to human life. This is an interesting place,” Al Grandfather said with a laugh.

“Well, Mee-Mee, where are we going next?” Al Grandfather asked, unwavering.

Mee-Mee’s tour continued to the next destination!

We left Märchen Town, entered the forest, and after a short walk, there was a stone gate by a clear spring.

“Passing through that gate will take you to the next area,” Mee-Mee said, leading the way.

Al Grandfather, me, Father, and Burton passed through the gate in that order.

Once through the gate, we saw an endless field of wheat.

The horizon was filled with golden wheat!

How big is this place?

Father and Burton were speechless.

Here, mid-level spirits were busily harvesting wheat.

They were cutting the ears of wheat with wind scythes and carrying them with their small bodies. Some were resting in the shade of trees, while others were playing with the wind, flying around freely.

“Wow, they’re so cute. They’re all hard workers,” I said, and even those who were resting or playing made serious faces and started working.

They are quite adaptable!

We all had a good laugh watching them.

The harvested wheat was transported to the drying shed for threshing and milling, Mee-Mee said.

As we walked a little further through the wheat field, there was a wooden arch gate under a large tree.

Passing through it, we saw a vast vegetable field.

Ah, it’s in the middle of summer here!

Various colorful summer vegetables were bountifully growing.

“This is the summer vegetable area. There are also areas for seasonal vegetables. Radberries are grown in the spring vegetable area. They are the spirits’ favorite,” Mee-Mee said.

Oh! It’s not just Riol who likes them!

The spirits eat them too!

Just imagining the little spirits munching on big radberries warms my heart!

Everyone, eat lots of vegetables!

A little further on, we saw an arch made of bean vines, with lots of square beans hanging down.

What impressive beans!

The adults had to stoop a bit to pass through the gate.

The next area was the fruit tree area.

“This area is also divided by season and climate. This is the grape orchard, so please enjoy grape picking,” Mee-Mee said, and mid-level spirits brought us small baskets and scissors. We each took a basket and enjoyed grape picking.

With Burton’s help, I picked large, jade-colored grapes.

Father picked large, dark purple grapes, and Al Grandfather picked large, red-purple grapes, so we promised to exchange later.

I wondered if the small basket would be enough, but it turned out to be a magic bag! The harvested grapes were automatically transferred to the warehouse in the separate building!

So convenient and thoughtful!

What is going on in my botanical garden?

The grapes I tasted were very juicy and delicious!
