Gardening Life With Plant Magic: Haku and the Spirits’ Botanical Garden

7: Summon Pikka!

After a night’s sleep, I regained my energy.

Let’s switch gears and stay positive!

Over the next few days, I made one-meter-wide gardens in the empty spaces along the wall.

Our house faces southeast. Upon entering the gate, the left side houses the family and servants, while the right side is for guests. Of course, I can’t plant vegetables in the guest front yard. That would surprise the guests, though we don’t get many.

The back of the house is shaded and only gets western light. The wall along the side gets partial shade at different times.

The problem is sunlight. Even in the other world, I struggled with sunlight for gardening.

If it doesn’t exist, why not create it?

“So, plant cultivation and light magic, summon!”

Why summon? Since Cloud Koo appeared, why not a light?

And suddenly, Pikka! A small sun appeared! Viva!!

I named it Pikka-chan.

It was meant to be a magic light, but maybe it’s due to my childish imagination? Ehehe.

This fairy-tale-like plant cultivation magic is shabby but cute. Now, Cloud Koo and Mini Sun Pikka-chan are a team. I’ve got more friends! Let’s celebrate!

Brighten up the shady spots.

With one problem solved, let’s move on. Next, the crops.

Time to use my plant creation skills. I’ll have to experiment in my room.

My goal is various summer vegetables.

I want to recreate the delicious vegetables from Japan. In this world, vegetables are close to their wild varieties and not improved.

The taste is overall poor. I’d rather have sweet tomatoes and strawberries than sour ones.

So today, I’ll take a break from potato cultivation in the botanical garden and experiment with creating vegetables.

I settled down on my room’s chair.

Magic is all about imagination.

I imagined a sweet, large, shiny tomato from Japan. A high-spec tomato from old Japanese tales, come forth!

And with a sense of magic draining, a heavy weight landed in my hands.

Opening my eyes, a glossy, ripe red tomato was there!

“Yay! I did it!”

“Plant creation skill unlocked. Do you want to cultivate the created plant?”

I excitedly asked about the plant cultivation skill.

“Can I harvest seeds from the fruit for cultivation?”

“Yes. Store it in the warehouse and move it to the field from there.”

Following the instructions, a tomato illustration appeared on one field square. A green sprite appeared and started watering it.

“Large tomato, seed extraction time: one hour.”

Wow, seeds in an hour. I can plant them tomorrow.

Let’s create more vegetables!

Cucumbers and eggplants are essential. For fall and winter, pumpkins too. How about melons too?

After creating these five kinds, I felt quite drained and exhausted.

Not good.

I asked the skill to handle the rest and decided to rest in bed.

Being a child, I shouldn’t overdo it.

I fell asleep instantly.

Even by noon, I was still sleeping, which worried Martha.

I apologized and had a late lunch. I was very hungry.

With my magic power fully restored, I made seedlings from the seeds after lunch.

I planned to plant three squares each of tomatoes, cucumbers, and eggplants, so I needed twelve seedlings of each. I asked the plant cultivation skill to grow them bigger.

The skill is really flexible.

Maybe it’s time for a level up?

The next morning, I woke up to find the vegetable seedlings ready.

Let’s plant them right away!

Because of what happened yesterday, Martha reported to Barton, and I got a little scolded.

Reynard and Tom offered to help with the planting, so let’s do our best today.

When we arrived at the garden, the seedlings were released from the magic circle of the warehouse with a bang.

I was enchanted by the thick, lush seedlings!

Reynard watched my curious actions with great interest.

“Wow, Tom told me about it, but the seedlings really came out of a magic circle? Is it like a transfer magic circle? Transfer circles are very advanced and rare magic, you know.”

Ah, I don’t think it’s anything that grand. But I don’t really know.

“Um, there’s a warehouse in the ‘plant cultivation’ skill, and I’m taking them out from there.”

“A warehouse?”

“Yeah! A storage warehouse for plants.”

Sorry, brother. With my toddler vocabulary, I can’t explain it in detail.

I don’t really understand it myself!

Reynard nodded thoughtfully.

“That’s Haku’s skill, huh. It’s like an item box? Still, it’s quite a rare skill. I don’t know much about it, but I understand that Haku needs to study. It’s about time to start, so I’ll tell Father later.”

Reynard said with a very kind smile.

“Huh?”

The end of the world has come!

Is it suddenly the apocalypse!?

Seeing my quiet shock (or perhaps being exasperated?), Tom came to my rescue.

“Young masters, let’s get started on the work. Haku-sama, please tell us where to plant.”

Oh, right. Let’s forget about studying for now.

“Uh, this green-smelling leaf is a tomato. We’ll plant the tomatoes under the eaves in the front garden.”

We’ll plant cucumbers and eggplants by the stonewall in the backyard, and pumpkins and melons under the eaves on the north side of the house.

Ah, the sunlight issue will be solved by Pikka-chan!

Cloud Koo will take care of watering, so no worries.

I managed to convey the key points and felt satisfied.

I have a great sense of accomplishment!

Reynard’s lukewarm gaze was piercing, though…

It took an hour to plant everything by splitting up the work. All tasks were completed.

“Thank you, brother and Tom!”

I sincerely expressed my gratitude. I don’t think I could have finished alone.

Just as I felt relieved.

“Your level has increased by one. A new area and plants have been unlocked.”

An announcement echoed in my mind! Yay!
