Chapter 243: Essence Of Moves
Yang Shi opened his forge and forged thin sheets of metal plates. With his precise hammerings, the metal plates were thin like leaves.
Yang Shi did not want to inscribe rune directly over the weapon. Firstly, he wanted to familiarize himself with the art of inscription.
Thankfully, there was an inscription pen with his forging table. That saved him from buying a new one.
Yang Shi calmed his breathing as his Azure Lotus primordial spirit appeared. His Celestial View was already activated as he slowly used his soul qi.
He could feel his mind was strangely connected with the inscription pen. Even without his five senses, he could feel it like his own part. A formless energy entered the pen as it slightly glimmered.
" Let's start with the basic Fire rune." Yang Shi's hands moved as he tried to carve the Fire rune. Each stroke was drawn carefully. He could feel his soul qi was infusing within the runic lines.
After half an hour, Yang Shi breathed lightly as he stopped inscribing. On the metal sheet, there was a fully inscribe Fire rune.
Yang Shi tapped it with his fingers as he channeled his spiritual qi in it.
The rune lighted up as sparkles of flames appeared. The runic lines seemed to be filled with flames as the metal sheet suddenly caught fire. It was a small fire, like a lamp. But the result was enough to satisfy Yang Shi.
" Well, It seems my talent isn't too bad for inscription. Hmm, but the movement of my soul qi isn't flexible as I anticipated." Yang Shi rubbed his chin.
He took out three more sheets as he started practicing the inscription of the Fire rune. After successfully inscribing the second Fire rune, he proceeds to make a third one.
But suddenly his mind felt dizzy a he almost made an error in the inscription. After the third one, when he started inscribing the fourth rune, the dizziness increased.
Yang Shi's eyes were closed in pain. He felt a thousand bells ringing in his mind, making him feel hallucinate.
" My soul qi is already depleted?" Yang Shi muttered as he looked at his soul. He didn't inscribe any more runes as he sat and meditated.
Just like spiritual qi, soul qi isn't infinite. There is a limit to how much soul qi one can use. Like the dantian is the storage place of spiritual qi, a person's soul qi is stored within the Sea of Consciousness.
The Sea of Consciousness is the most vulnerable place of a cultivator. Not only does it contain soul qi, but it also contains all the memories of a person.
To fully control one's soul qi, one needs to open their Sea of Consciousness.
Even one reaches the Violet Palace Expansion Realm and awakes their souls, they still needed to put effort to open the sea of consciousness.
But Yang Shi's sea of consciousness was forced opened when he received the memories of Samsara Emperor.
Yang Shi checked his soul, which looked exactly like him. Its body was formed with light particles as it floated. But compared to the regular souls, it looked much shorter. The seal of Samsara Emperor looked dim.
Yang Shi noticed a peculiarity in his soul. Unlike having a transparent body, his soul looked much more corporeal. Moreover, his soul was nourished by the subtle light of the Azure Lotus.
" Even till now, I didn't find everything about the Azure lotus and Crimson lily. Damn it, I don't know why Samsara Emperor blocked his memory about them." Yang Shi cursed.
" And that fucking Soul Extinguishing Talisman, damn it, it almost killed me." Yang Shi clenched his teeth.
Yang Shi realized that due to his damaged soul, his sea of consciousness also contains less soul qi than average.
If a regular cultivator's soul qi storing capacity is a small pond then Yang Shi's is a big bathtub.
" I need methods to heal my soul. Unfortunately, soul qi is not like spiritual qi, which a person can absorb from the air. I need Soul Nourishing Pills." Yang Shi mumbled as he waited to replenish his soul qi.
" But after I started inscription, I felt I am using soul qi even more smoothly. Although my soul is lacking in quantity, the quality is quite good." Yang Shi mumbled.
He studied a bit more about runes before he went to sleep. He felt he needed to make some plans before he could craft a True grade weapon.
" Damn…"
Yang Shi was about to sleep with Bai Ruxue when his eyes squinted. He saw Jin Yu was already sleeping with her.
" When we shift to our new home, I guess I need to prepare a separate room for Jin Yu." Yang Shi smirked evilly.
Since he couldn't sleep and it was already dawn, Yang Shi went to the courtyard.
Mo Xiaowen was practicing his sword technique as usual. After he saw Yang Shi came, he stopped.
" Well, You are quite early today." H spoke.
" Hehe, because I couldn't sleep, I came to ask for some pointers from Brother Xiaowen." Yang Shi smiled.
" You want to spar again?" Mo Xiaowen asked curiously. " Little Brother Yang is truly uncommon among your peers. Only if Little Mo had shown such dedication." Mo Xiaowen sighed.
" Haha, Brother Mo Yi is very talented. Sooner or later, he will become a powerful figure." Yang Shi laughed.
He sheathed his sword as he signaled Yang Shi to attack him. Yang Shi nodded as he had already drawn his saber.
His saber hummed as a ferocious aura appeared from Yang Shi. His saber seemed to be like a fierce tiger, getting ready to pounce on its prey.
" Basic saber intent?!" Mo Xiaowen's eyes got narrowed as he gazed at Yang Shi. He remembered when they sparred previously, Yang Shi didn't comprehend saber intent.
Yang Shi adjusted his position as he activated his Soaring Eagle Immortal Steps right away. His figure blurred as he dashed at Mo Xiaowen.
Ordinary people could only see a blur while Mo Xiaowen could fully see the movements of Yang Shi. His lips curled as he straighten his palms.
" Sharp Sword Chop!" Mo Xiaowen's palm moved as he made a chopping attack on Yang Shi. Even Yang Shi was moving quickly, Mo Xiaowen's move caught him off guard.
Yang Shi used his saber as he released his saber intent completely. A powerful momentum appeared on the saber as it clashed with Mo Xiaowen's palm.
*DING*
A muffled sound rang out like two metals collided. Yang Shi's eyes were squinted as he saw his saber didn't even touch Mo Xiaowen's palm.
He could feel a sharp sword intent coming from his palm. It felt like Mo Xiaowen's palm was a sword itself, sharp enough to cut anything on its path.
Mo Xiaowen stood firmly on one spot, doing stabbing, chopping, slashing with his bare hands. Yang Shi was already pressed to a defensive position, but it only fueled his battle intent.
His speed increased and he started to attack Mo Xiaowen from every direction. " Gold Devil Armor, Gold Split!" Yang Shi jumped as the saber in his hands burst with golden rays.
It was like zaps of golden lightning, looking eye catching during the time of dawn. The saber was nowhere in sight, only whistling of winds.
Mo Xiaowen raised his brows as his fingers parted. Fives rays of silver light clashed with Yang Shi's saber.
*DING DING DING DING*
Yang Shi could feel the sharpness of Mo Xiaowen's sword intent. It was much more powerful than his basic saber intent.
Seeing his moves were blocked again, Yang hi chose to retreat a few steps.
" Brother Yang has made some improvements, but it's still far from enough." Mo Xiaowen chuckled. " Your moves are outstanding, but I think they are lacking a bit of something." He advised.
Yang Shi heard Mo Xioawen as he was startled. He stopped attacking him and readjusted his position. He closed his eyes as he was thinking in his heart.
" Lacking something? What is my saber technique is lacking? Strength? Sharpness? Agility? Flexibility? No!" Yang Shi questioned himself. He was going as per the technique instructed.
But Mo Xiaowen's advice made him doubtful of his own approach. He held his saber as he tried to hear its call.
He didn't feel that Mo Xiaowen was playing any tricks on him, as he got no reason to do so.
" Essence! I am lacking the essence of the moves!" Yang Shi's eyes snapped open.
He felt the Azure Lotus in him stirred gently as myriads of thoughts cleared from his mind, making him focused.
Gold Split, the move doesn't imply only the use of sharp Metal qi. It means using the saber with unparallel sharpness, a sharpness that can cut through metal like butter.
Tiger descending from Mountain, the essence of this move is having an indomitable aura. A powerful and fierce aura, which can rip apart mightiest beasts to shred.
Yang Shi opened his eyes as his pupils were dyed in azure.
Mo Xiaowen's eyes squinted as he felt Yang Shi's aura suddenly turn much sharper.
