Genshin Impact: I Became The Son Of Greater Lord Rukkhadevata

Chapter 27: Chapter 27: Never Reason With A Wowan

"Ei? What are you doing here?" Yu asked, slightly flustered. Glancing at his current state, he hurriedly used dendro energy to craft a makeshift suit of vine armor.

"Am I not allowed to visit? You can come to my place, but I can't come to yours?"

"Hold on, let me handle something first," Yu said, pointing at the nearby, now-naked Apep. At that moment, he suddenly felt an ominous presence, as if a pair of glowing red eyes were boring into his back.

"You had a perfectly good Dragon form—why pretend to be human? I'll give you three seconds to change back."

Apep sighed in resignation and reverted to her original Dragon-like form, though it was noticeably smaller than before.

"Wait, you can change your size at will?"

Apep looked like she was on the verge of tears. Are you serious? Do you have any idea how many pieces of me you've hacked off over the past few days? There's enough of me scattered around to feed all of Sumeru for days!

Ei's expression gradually softened, and the menacing aura she radiated moments ago began to fade.

"My king, you still haven't answered—will you accept my surrender?"

"Sure, sure. Go play. You're dismissed," Yu waved her off casually.

---

"So, what exactly have you been up to these past few days?" Ei asked, arms crossed.

"Fighting that dragon."

"The whole time?"

"Yep, the whole time. I could tell she had ulterior motives, so I decided to let her off for now."

"But…"

"What is it, Ei? Is something wrong?"

"Did you spare her because of her beauty and power? Is that why she's still alive?"

Yu: !!!

For some reason, Yu suddenly felt a dangerous aura in the air, as if it had materialized out of nowhere.

"Impossible! How could I be attracted to… Dragons?"

"Aren't you technically a tree?"

"Absolutely not! No way! I'll go kill her right now, just watch!" Yu, seemingly desperate to prove a point, was about to charge off when he received a message through the World Tree.

Ensure the Dendro Dragon survives. Do not let her die!!!

It was a message from the Greater Lord Rukkhadevata, followed by a detailed explanation of the potential consequences if Apep were to be killed.

Yu stopped dead in his tracks.

"Ei, I just remembered—she's the Dendro Dragon. I can't kill her."

Once again, that ominous aura resurfaced.

"Why?" Ei asked, her cold expression betraying an unknown emotion beneath.

Yu carefully explained the message he had received, trying to provide a complete picture of the situation. Yet, as the saying goes, one should never try to reason with a woman when emotions are involved.

"I only came to check on you. I'll be leaving now—deal with your issues yourself." With that, Ei transformed into a flash of electricity.

"Ei! Wait up!" Yu called out, hurriedly chasing after her.

"Don't follow me!"

At that moment, lightning streaked across the sky.

Yu glanced down at the glowing yellow markings on his body. Great. Looks like I'm going to be high for days again.

As Ei soared through the sky in a flash of lightning, her mind raced. Why did I even come here? Never mind, it's too annoying to think about. But why am I so angry? Ugh, forget it.

Yu, unwilling to give up, activated his hyperstate and caught up to her. With a steady voice, he called out to her.

"Her beauty means nothing compared to yours."

Then, exhausted from the chase, he plummeted to the ground.

Ei glanced back once but didn't say a word. Without looking again, she flew off into the distance.

---

Meanwhile, Apep was busy scouring the desert for her scattered body parts. As she gathered herself, she spotted Yu in his vine armor approaching.

"Apep, what skills do you have? My kingdom doesn't keep freeloaders."

Apep froze, feeling like she had just been handed a death sentence. What's going on? I've already surrendered—why does it still feel like he wants to kill me? I haven't even done anything yet!

"Lord of Dendro, I can do anything. Whatever task you assign, I will complete it," Apep said humbly. A dragon beneath the roof must lower its head.

"Anything?"

Apep transformed once more into her human form—a voluptuous woman with flowing green hair. This time, she conjured an outfit using dendro energy to clothe herself.

Blushing slightly, she said, "Yes… anything."

She had prepared herself for the worst, expecting Yu to demand something unspeakable. After all, as the defeated, she was now his captive and had no right to refuse.

"You're the ruler of the sandworms, right?"

Apep hesitated for a moment, then nodded. "Yes, my king. Is there something you wish of me?"

This pervert! He's not only after me—he wants my children too! Even if they've degenerated into mindless beasts, they're still my offspring, like the little dendro slimes to their big ones. How could he?!

Yu wrapped an arm around Apep's smooth shoulder and said with a grin, "Look at this vast desert—it's such a waste to leave it barren, don't you think? If we dig some canals, set up underground water channels, and mine for resources, we could turn it into something far more valuable. We'll need a lot of labor for this, though. How about this—you and your sandworms do the work, and I'll pay you. From now on, you'll be my people. What do you say?"

Apep breathed a sigh of relief. Thank goodness he's not asking me to reproduce with him. Though, she couldn't help but be a little curious—what would their offspring even look like?

Unbeknownst to her, Yu had already devised a detailed plan to exploit every ounce of value from the sandworms.

As the saying goes, technology is the primary productive force—but in this era, it seemed that sandworms had become the first productive force!

The sandworms' exceptional digging abilities made them perfect for excavation—whether it was canals, mines, or tunnels. Their efficiency was so high that any self-respecting capitalist would be ecstatic at the sight.

"Master, that sandworm is still just a child!"

"It's old enough. If it can work, it should work."

"Nooo!"

Yu even selected a few leaders among the sandworms and rewarded them with higher pay—essentially, better food than the others. Their primary job was to act as foremen. Little Blue, watching their meals enviously, was thankful that her job was comparatively easy—just lying in a Pool, serving as Yu's personal cushion, occasionally hunting crocodiles to switch up her diet.

Sandworms, being descendants of dragons, worked tirelessly, operating on a brutal 007 schedule—zero days off, zero complaints, and seven days a week. As long as they were fed, they had no issues.

The desert dwellers rejoiced. "The Overlord is amazing! He's barely taken charge, and already things are improving. Life with sandworms is so convenient!"

Sandworms, relying on their acute sense of vibration and sound, made finding water an easy task. With that, the most pressing problem of the desert was solved.

But sandworms weren't just useful for infrastructure—they were also invaluable for agriculture. By channeling underground water to farmlands, they allowed crops to grow in previously barren regions. Sumeru's farmland expanded dramatically, ensuring drought-proof harvests year-round.

With food secure, everything else was negotiable. The sandworms even proved to be highly effective scouts, capable of detecting dangerous gods from afar and alerting Yu, who could then launch precision strikes.

Yu quickly realized that sandworms were practically walking treasure troves, their uses endless.

Thanks to them, productivity soared, and within a few years, Sumeru flourished. While other regions of Teyvat struggled with famine during the Archon War, Sumeru's people were so well-fed they didn't know what to do with their surplus. Every year, large quantities of food went to waste because they simply couldn't consume it all.

Eventually, word got out that Sumeru had more food than it could eat. In the midst of the ongoing Archon War, this news spread like wildfire.

Before long, Yu found himself under siege.

A desert god had somehow rallied eighteen other gods, claiming, "We're starving while you gorge yourselves—that's unfair! We're here to take what's ours."

Though Yu was strong, he couldn't be everywhere at once. Constant raids left his people vulnerable.

It was time to build a powerful army.
