chapter 195
Chapter 195.
It Looks Like Guidance, But It’s Actually Induction
Clotilde originally planned to wait in place for Noah.
Because she believed that Noah would definitely come back to find her, even if it was a little late.
So she waited quietly, very composed, like a nun who had not been invited by her master and was waiting at the door for Noah to come out.
At five minutes, she could still comfort herself by saying that Noah would arrive soon, just a little longer.
At ten minutes, she could barely suppress her dissatisfaction, telling herself to wait a bit more—what if Noah got lost?
But after waiting fifteen minutes without seeing Noah’s figure, she decided not to wait any longer, nor to continue guarding the corpse of the demon, and returned to the previous room with a stern face.
As she walked, the young nun thought to herself, please don’t let her see Noah there, leisurely sipping someone else’s tea without a trace of a priest about him.
Otherwise, even with her good temper, she would be unable to hold back her anger.
—Fortunately, Noah was not stealing someone else’s tea.
The bad news was that Noah was indeed leisurely drinking tea.
When Clotilde pushed open the door to the room, she saw Noah chatting and drinking tea with another unfamiliar man.
The unfamiliar man was somewhat overweight, around fifty years old, dressed in luxurious clothing, clearly a wealthy businessman.
Beside the man sat a beautiful woman in her mid-twenties, pretending to be surprised while secretly sizing her up.
In addition, there was a young and beautiful maid serving the three of them.
If one only looked at this scene, it might even seem very peaceful, as if nothing had happened at all.
“Ah, this must be the nun who came with Father Noah, right? Please, have a seat. Today, we owe a lot to both of you.”
Noah noticed the door had opened but merely smiled at her.
The one speaking was the overweight middle-aged man directly across from Noah.
As the true owner of the villa, he quickly invited Clotilde to sit down with enthusiasm upon seeing her.
Out of politeness, Clotilde did not refuse but sat a little farther away from Noah.
After thanking the maid who brought her tea, she calmly recounted her experience of eliminating the demon.
In the following twenty minutes, Noah, Clotilde, the owner, and the owner’s mistress discussed the events that had transpired.
They did not stay long before leaving.
On the way back to the cathedral, Clotilde clearly had something to say but did not want to.
So, Noah had no choice but to speak first in a slightly sarcastic tone:
“What’s wrong, Sister? Are you dissatisfied with this outcome? The monsters have been eliminated, and everyone is safe. I think this mission to eradicate heresy was perfect. Surely it wouldn’t have hurt to stay there for a meal, right?”
Clotilde, who originally did not want to speak, immediately retorted upon hearing Noah’s words:
“That’s a big problem! Didn’t you notice the strange looks those two were giving us? They were completely sizing us up!”
Indeed, this was the main reason Clotilde was eager to leave.
The man, who looked nothing like a believer, had been eyeing her with a gaze as if he were appraising a product.
Meanwhile, the young woman beside the businessman was looking at Noah with an obvious desire to get close to him.
The maid seemed to have no issues at all.
But the fact that she could serve those two without batting an eye was already a problem.
Still staying there to eat?
What if something really happened?
Although she was sure she wouldn’t be tricked into being sold as a commodity.
But Noah might really end up being devoured by that young woman whose face screamed ‘man-eater’!
How could this priest not feel any sense of crisis at all!
She was anxious, okay!
“Ha, so what? Even that demon who wanted to scheme against us and embarrass us has failed, and you still care about such things? Don’t you find it interesting that those two, clearly human, have desires similar to demons?”
Noah looked at the nun, who was glaring at him with a reproachful gaze, and casually revealed a cheerful smile.
“What’s interesting about that! It’s clearly terrible!”
Even though she knew Noah would say something like that, Clotilde couldn’t help but respond with a heavier tone.
“Even so, you just left early without taking any other actions, didn’t you?”
“!”
However, at that moment, Noah’s nonchalant remark froze Clotilde’s previously angry expression.
Yes, she did think those two were dangerous, but she hadn’t corrected their behavior; instead, she had quickly left to avoid any incidents.
After all, the other party merely had those thoughts, and she was just a nun, not a king, who could do whatever she wanted.
Unless she could catch those two actually committing a crime.
But that would be another troublesome matter.
Feeling uncomfortable yet unable to intervene was the main reason Clotilde was in such a bad mood now.
Mainly because the demon who played the room’s master fit her ideal image of a faithful believer so well.
Discovering that the real person was such a fat, big-eared merchant was something Clotilde truly struggled to accept.
“Don’t be so self-righteous, Miss Nun. Everyone has a dark side, but merely thinking about it doesn’t count for much. You’ve thought about tackling me too, haven’t you? If I weren’t more skilled, you would have devoured me long ago. So, in that sense, you’re not really a proper person, are you?”
At that moment, it was naturally Noah’s voice, filled with sarcasm and lacking any gentleness, that was trying to enlighten her.
One could say it was highly effective.
The nun, who had been feeling quite miserable, felt even worse upon hearing those words.
“Can we not bring that up right now? I didn’t mean to!”
“Oh, by the way, your magical power has already recovered to the point where you can defeat an average demon. Congratulations!”
“Changing the subject is way too obvious!”
“To celebrate that you can briefly use the dual ancient relics, let’s go eat. It’s on me.”
—
“Father Noah, you really are… sigh… never mind.”
“So, are you going?”
“I will go!”
Under Noah’s somewhat enlightening words, Clotilde finally stopped worrying so much about the earlier incident involving those two.
What Noah said was not entirely incomprehensible to her.
But she just found it hard to accept.
So, she decided that after dinner, when she returned to the cathedral, she would ask Bishop Horace for his opinion on the matter.
If Bishop Horace could intervene and lead those two back to the right path, that would be even better.
Surely the Goddess also hopes for such a future, right?
—Oh, that expression, she must be thinking about discussing this matter with that old man Horace.
However, while Clotilde thought she was hiding her thoughts well, Noah had already seen through her mental state.
But Noah had no intention of stopping her; in fact, he was quite looking forward to this happening.
He was already starting to think about how to deal with the ‘blonde’ old man in the nun’s story!
