"And who is this person?"
"This person is rumoured to be part of the newly created Team Zero under Gilgamesh," the masked ninja answered.
"Do you want to check it out?" the unmasked ninja asked after finishing his rice.
"Well, we are free now, why not? It would be wise to know how to deal with him if he becomes a threat to the village," the masked ninja said as the unmasked ninja wore his mask and they both took off.
After venturing for a while and entering the forest, the Anbu ninjas reached an area getting colder the deeper they went in until they found a small part of the forest that had been cleared and frozen.
The Anbu ninjas had to regulate their breathing because of the cold and remain hidden as well.
They found someone walking shirtless in the middle of the cold and immediately applied camouflage jutsu. The person appeared to be a teenager who could barely walk and fell on the ice floor, exhausted.
"What do we do? Do we help him out?" one of the masked ninjas asked the other and met only silence as a reply.
Soon, frost smoke came out of the boy’s mouth, indicating respiration.
"Do we report this to Lord Danzo?" the same masked ninja who asked the previous question asked again and was met with a nod as they both left.
‘Finally, they left,’ Mura thought as he got up and resumed his training.
---
Gilgamesh was flying above the clouds in Konoha when he noticed a phenomenon with his newly acquired eye ability. He saw an older man and a young boy in a courtyard talking, and soon the older man became bigger and bigger until he was larger than the building!
Gilgamesh read the change in his chakra pathways and stopped his flight to watch the scene again.
The little boy was chubby-looking with chips in his hand. Soon the boy also expanded but didn’t grow as large as the older man, who had already shrunk in size.
‘Another one acquired!’ Gilgamesh thought as he went back to the forest where he trained and came across his house made out of earth.
"Let’s test this then!" Gilgamesh said that after confirming, no one was around the area.
After confirming his test, Gilgamesh left and went to the ninja library.
Two years passed quickly, and the citizens were getting used to the occasional rumblings and explosions in the forest. Some ninjas were more motivated to train more as well. Might Guy almost got an extra disciple in the conquest of the springtime of youth!
The Third soon got tired of punishing the exceptional ninjas who managed to escape the hands of the stubborn Ōnoki, but he knew things weren’t over yet with the paper he had in his hands.
Noise complaints had reached The Third’s office, but he ignored them, and Shikaku didn’t even bother with them again after hearing his reason. Apparently, The Third was glad Gilgamesh knew how dangerous the situation was for him. Even without being told, he knew he would be a wanted person outside and had to train to get stronger to prevent the worst from happening, so The Third turned a blind eye to the noise.
The Third also noticed that he wouldn’t see Naruto sometimes, and he was reported to be exercising in the forest a lot more.
"It seems that the boy’s actions have a way of affecting everyone in the village. Almost all the leaf shinobi are looking sharp every passing day. He even made Naruto start training early," Shikaku chuckled while speaking with The Third but became quiet after the last sentence.
The Third shared the same sentiment. He wondered how Naruto would turn out if his father were still around to train him.
"I think it’s time we send those stubborn boys outside again," The Third said.
"Huh? Aren’t we supposed to be protecting them? If we send them out, we could…" Shikaku offered his advice on how to protect the two shining prospects of the Leaf Village.
"That should be the case normally, but… that’s what Ōnoki would want. He would want stagnation of our top talents. Have you forgotten the will of fire? These boys without instruction, separated, haven’t seen each other in two years and spent most of their time training! They are the freest shinobi with time on their hands. I bet they are itching to put their skills to the test! Bottling them up in the village might lead to unfavourable results worse than sending them out now," The Third explained.
"Even so, sending them out like that alone is…" Shikaku interjected.
"They performed well in their last backup mission, didn’t they?" The Third asked.
"If you remove the encounter at the Hidden Stone village, yes. Gilgamesh used extreme methods in dealing with those criminals, but Anko confirmed that they were going to kill her after they captured her. So, all in all, they did well and preserved the name of our village," Shikaku answered.
"There you have it. We can have them specialised in backup and reinforcement missions, eh, what do you think?" The Third asked, reclining on his chair.
"That’s not bad actually. They don’t have to dive head-first into missions and would only need to arrive when firepower is needed. Speaking of firepower, did you read the report of how he used the fireball technique?" Shikaku asked the old shinobi in front of him, who was known to be able to use all five nature transformations and arguably the strongest Kage at the time, only weakened by age.
"That’s an interesting use of the fireball technique. That kid is a genius! I wonder how powerful and rich his parents are?" The Third said as he lit his pipe.
"That’s another mystery for the shinobi world, Hokage," Shikaku said as a messenger hawk flew in.
Shikaku removed the letter tied to the hawk’s legs and let it out. After reading the contents, Shikaku sighed.
"This mission is A-class and might even increase to S based on the contents of this letter. Gilgamesh is still a Chūnin," Shikaku said, giving the letter to The Third who asked for it.
"But isn’t Gilgamesh the strongest Chūnin right now?" The Third asked as he read through the contents.
"That may be true, but…" Shikaku argued.
"Send letters to summon Team Zero here at once for a mission!" The Third declared.
