Chapter 45: THE BEACH
-Haruka POV-
"You're not lying. This place is really beautiful." He said that, and for a moment, I felt like my heart really stopped. The cold winds make his undercut hair a bit messy, but to tell the truth, I don't even know that this guy in front of me now could be this beautiful.
"I know I have a handsome face. But you're going to make me think that you might fall for me if you keep staring at me like that, Mr. Auclair." Levi's voice snaps me out of my thoughts. What did I just say about him being beautiful? I look at him, and he is clearly smirking at me right now.
"Think whatever you want, it's not like what you think." I avoid making eye contact with him. He's going to make fun of me if I do.
"Well, if that's what you said, I'm just going to believe it this time. This is my first time seeing such a beautiful beach here, aside from Hawaii. What's the name of this beach?" He asks me, looking excited to know more. I don't think that he would love this beach that much. I don't know why, but I feel like there are still some things I don't really know about him.
"It's called Whitehaven Beach. The most beautiful beach in Aussie I guess." I just told him my opinion. This beach is beautiful and calming every time I come here.
"It's indeed the most beautiful beach with you here." Again, he said something like that without warning and with a sweet smile of his to be added.
"Whether I'm here or not, the beach is still beautiful." After saying that, I left him and started to walk by the beachside while playing around with the sand using my feet.
"Don't leave me behind. I might get lost." Levi said that and tried to match my steps.
"The island is not even that big for you to get lost, and we're just walking around here." I tried to ignore him, but I guess I can't.
"Say, Mr. Auclair, are you really going to quit from becoming my secretary?" He asks that and now he's already beside me.
"I believe I did send the resignation letter to you last Monday." I gave him the obvious answer. I really don't want to talk about this right now.
"I sent Louis to the New York Branch." His words make me stop walking and I turn my head to look at him.
"Finally, you're looking at me." He smiles.
"What do you mean by that?" I ignore his words and ask him a question instead.
"Exactly what I said. I sent Louis to the New York Branch. He's no longer an employee for the France Branch." He said that once more.
"And why would you do that?" Question again.
"I did expect the resignation letter from you. I believe the reason is because you wouldn't want to work in the same space with him. So, that's why." He explains that to me. An answer that I actually could guess.
"Do you believe I will come back to the office if you do that?" I ask him another question.
"Yeah and even if you do say you don't wanna work there anymore, I'm not going to give up. I'll find a way to make you stay." He replies to me confidently with a serious face and then softens after that.
"I figured you would say that. I need some time to clear my mind, Levi." I replied to him. I don't know why, but I can feel a faint smile formed from my lips. I don't want him to see that so I turn my head away from him and continue walking.
"And about your sister, Hanabi. She didn't mean to hide it from you." He said that, trying to match my steps again.
"I know. I know she had a reason why she did that. Of course, she didn't want me to get hurt." I said that with a low voice. I shouldn't be talking about this with Levi right now.
-Levi POV-
"I know. I know she had a reason why she did that. Of course she didn't want me to get hurt." Haruka said that with a low voice. I know he still needs some time to clear his head but I already talked about this with him. You're such a fool, Levi. But since we're on the topic, maybe I should just keep talking.
"You're not angry with her aren't you?" I ask him.
"Huh? Why should I? Of course, I'm not. It's just that I was a bit shocked last time so I couldn't face her properly. And like I said, I just need some time" This time, he looks at me with a faint smile but he quickly looks away after that.
"Well, you know, your sister keeps nagging me to bring you back. She even dragged Lauren to my office the other day." I try to make my voice sound a bit bothered.
"What? Then did she know you came here?" He looks at me again with a shocked face. Maybe he did not expect her sister to act like that.
"She's not. Only your mom knew since she's the one who arranged this. But Haruka, you should give Hanabi a call later. She's worried about you." I said that and now his eyes fixed on me.
"Never thought you would call me Haruka." He said that, looking at me. Crap. I just addressed him by his name just now.
"Well, I'm sorry Mr. Auclair. I guess I'm not allowed to call you that yet." I chuckled and for a moment, I could see he was smiling.
"Well, we're not at work right now. You're free to call me whatever you want and I'll make sure to call Hanabi later. Thank you." He said that and kept walking after that. I rushed towards him.
"Really? I can call you Haruka from now on?" I ask him, still trying to match his steps.
"Only when we're outside of work." He said that without even looking at me.
"Then, can I call you Haru-chan outside of work too?" Knowing what answer I will get, I just try my luck.
"You can just forget about me saying you could call me Haruka then." He glares at me.
"I'm just kidding okay, haha." I laugh but he just ignores me and looks at the sea instead.
"It's sunset. The reason I brought you here is to show you this, so you better appreciate the view." He said that with his eyes still fixed on the sea direction. I'll take a look at it too.
"This is too pretty." No words could describe this. The sunset here is way too pretty and this is my first time seeing this.
"Right. I told you, you wouldn't regret this." Haruka said that with his bright smile. This is the first. The first time he ever smiled brightly like that towards me. Without realising it, I took my phone from my pocket and took a picture of him.
SNAP!
"What are you doing? Who permitted you to take a picture of me? Delete it now." He glares at me while trying to take the phone from my hand.
"Who cares? Who knows when the time you smile at me like that will come again? I'm going to keep this." I showed him the picture of him I took earlier.
"Levi, you better del….ugh, it's snowing. We should leave now." He didn't finish the sentence. Instead, he takes out his phone to call someone.
"We're leaving now before the snow gets heavier." He said that to me as soon as he finished talking. Guess he's already forgotten about the photo.
"In case you think I forgot, I'm not. Delete that photo now." Okay, I'm wrong. He did not forget.
"Just let me keep it. I didn't even take the picture without you knowing." I try to defend myself.
"Ugh. Suit yourself then. We're leaving!" He half-yelled and rode the helicopter as soon as it landed. Yes, it's my win.
//SKIP//
-Haruka POV-
Ugh. It's already 10 a.m. and I have never woken up this late before. This is all Levi's fault for making me stay awake until 1 am last night. Just to accompany him watching a movie but I ended up watching two movies because I like the genre. Ugh, maybe that's my fault too. I bring myself downstairs to the kitchen. It's quiet. Does Levi not wake up yet?
