Chapter 279: Sanctuary
The group then started moving to leave through the hole leading to the mining site where the three had come from.
Of course, because of the hole they created that led to the underground that was infested with zombies, they also needed to report this to the Shelter Leader to ensure that they would not be surprised if Zombies started pouring out from it.
They also decided to leave it as it was since it would have to be decided by their Shelter leader before they could consider closing that hole.
After several minutes of walking, Shane realized that they had indeed left the city underground.
As soon as they were out, Shane saw a mountain…
Soon, they followed an old track leading to the Shelter that their clan was using right now.
While they were walking, Stan explained what to expect in their Shelter…
'Only about 200 people? Isn't that a lot?!' Shane was shocked after hearing from Stan that they only have about 200 population!
Nonetheless, he hadn't been in many Shelters, so he was probably just out of touch and needed to know more.

Instead, they had arrived at the Shelter—just a couple of kilometers away from the city, yet a world apart.
The Miners led Shane to their Shelter. Shane was shocked to realize that they were about to enter another cave that was blocked by a huge boulder. This boulder then started opening up and it seemed that someone was actually watching them.
"This looked amazing…" Shane muttered as he saw the entrance where there were two people or guards waiting for them.
The people at the entrance nodded at their appearance. They weren't too surprised about their filthy clothes as it seemed normal around here.
Shane nodded to the guards. He had already learned from Stan that they were here to ensure that they weren't bitten by a zombie or injured by one.
Checking for injuries didn't take that long… It was quick, as it seemed that the talent of the guards was related to finding injuries. Shane had no idea what talent that was, but it was certainly interesting.
Then, as Shane thought that he was about to enter a cavern, he was surprised by what he had seen instead.
"Incredible… This is much better than how you described it, Stan." Shane said as he realized that they weren't entering a cave. It wasn't even a cavern.
Instead, it was most likely a hollowed mountain since there was no ceiling above! The sky could be fully seen while they were surrounded by 10 to 15-meter-tall rocks!
The Shelter was also so huge and could probably fit 5 or 7 football fields.
Shane stepped inside, his eyes adjusting to the scene in front of him.
The sanctuary was vast, and its walls seemed to be a natural formation of rocks, and they weren't just put together. This place even looked like a mountain from the outside.
People bustled—cooking over open fires, tending to wounded, and sharpening weapons… And the air smelled of sweat, smoke, and various food…
"That's our leader." Stan pointed at the man who had taken over this great location to build a shelter.
Although they probably lacked resources at first, Shane could see how this place had been modernized or improved.
There were many thatched houses, wooden houses, and some houses made of rocks. There are even some buildings that are formed to ensure that even if the Zombies manage to enter, they will be able to defend the place.
According to Stan, his name was Magnus. His frame was huge, and his presence commanded respect. Shane could see Shinja in his figure.
He was adorned with iron plates, and each one etched with symbols that hinted that it was Exceptional Grade at the very least...
His eyes met Shane's, and recognition flickered…
"This visitor… I've seen you in the Auction before…" Magnus said…
"Ohh… I didn't notice you, Sir Magnus…" Shane nodded before he continued. "I also didn't expect to ask a favor in the Ironclad Imperium Clan. Rank 17 on the Clan Leaderboard."
At this time, Stan explained what had happened to them and how they were saved by Shane.
"So it was like that… Don't worry, you can stay here as long as you can. As a matter of fact, I'd be more than happy to see a powerhouse in our Shelter." Magnus replied.
"Ohhh… Is there something bothering you?" Shane asked as he got the hint from Magnus.
Magnus grinned. "Well, you know of the Regional Server Merge… Zombies lurking around us became stronger after it happened. We're previously Rank 13 and even reached Rank 9 before the merge. However, we're only Rank 17 right now, and we might even lose in the top 20 Ranking at this moment."
Magnus then explained that they were expecting a Giant Zombie to attack their Shelter soon. When that happened, they would probably have to leave this Shelter and the houses they had made together.
"So you haven't encountered a Giant Zombie before? I mean, during your Zombie Wave?" Shane asked.
This question stunned Magnus and the three behind him.
"Ahem… Of course, not… I don't think any shelter could survive that Giant Zombie… Or perhaps if there are several people with Legendary Talents in one Shelter, then that's possible. However, those with Legendary Talents wouldn't normally stay together as they needed to grow quickly.
If there are two Legendary Talent holder, then the resources would be split into two, and their growth would be slow." Magnus explained.
Apparently, this was quite a normal arrangement in various Shelters since only Shane probably had a Complete Loot Talent, to the point that he could fully loot max experience points as well.
He actually realized this since he heard from many others that their loot with Leader Zombies wasn't even above 30 points!
Furthermore, his lowest loot of experience points was 10, while the others were 1. This difference would be huge if they had looted the same number of zombies.
Anyway, Shane soon learned that the Giant Zombie's behavior was being monitored by one of their Epic Talent Holders…
Based on his estimate, their Shelter would be attacked in the next couple of days.
"Mhmm… If that's the case… Then, we still have plenty of time." Shane muttered.
