Chapter 14: Thayer Argent– the Golden
The registration area was in the middle of the town. Honestly, Jael didn't know if he should call it a town or a city since it's so big, but he went with what everyone called it– Novice Town.
It was a big building made with a combination of stones and glass, and as expected, there were a lot of people there, but they had no problem getting around with Temur leading the way.
"The registration is for the Tower Guards because they are the only independent force created to maintain order throughout the Tower, but their power is weaker the higher you climb because of powerful guilds," Litha explained. "They'll ask your name and put you into the database. That's it.
"But they might try to measure your Codex. Don't agree because they will sell your information to guilds or anyone with enough power and money, you don't want to deal with that. Oh, also, if you are a legacy Climber, then it's better to go by a nickname."
"What's a legacy Climber?" Jael asked. Trying his best not to stare like an idiot at the different races that walk around.
"Those who have Ascendant parents."
She told him about those the night before. Ascendant are those who have climbed to the highest cleared floor– currently Floor 52. Each Ascendant is given a a rank, from 1 to thousands, based on their power and influence. Being an Ascendant is the dream of almost all Climbers because it's the badge that you climb the Tower and a testament to your power.
"Are you a legacy Climber?" Jael asked her.
She waved her hand. "Anyway. This test, including the one on floor 101, is where guilds will start looking for who to sponsor to the top. They use their resources and influence to help you climb to the top. Even now, they will begin to scout..."
Jael stored it in the back of his mind that Litha didn't reply to his question.

Thayer Argent was scouting, and he was very seamless about it; every morning, he would come to the registration area and wait until there almost all day to look at any promising Climbers.
Thayer himself is a Climber, he's just starting with this new set. He's not a legacy Climber because none of his parents have climbed the Tower before, but somebody they are ranked in the Ascendants' database.
It's simple. They have one of the richest organizationss in the Dungeon Tower. His father is the owner of the 'Argent Hotels' and they have hotels on all the floors of the Tower.
And Thayer is their only son. Unexpectedly, he awoken a Mythic Codex, and his father thought maybe it was time to finally build a guild along with his business. So Thayer's job is to look for powerful new Climbers to climb together who will later be members of his guild.
"Young Master. Isn't that the two that refused your offer the other day?" One of Ois guards, who was dressed in black suit and dark sungasses asked. His guards are made up of Climbers who had stopped climbing for one reason or the other.
Thayer turned from his seat, looking at who he pointing at. Litha and Temur with some other new dude. "Oh?" His golden eyes sparked. Everything about Thayer sparked, from his earrings to his gold hair.
Not far from the three was another short weirdo following behind them. Thayer summoned his Codex. It appeared in front of him; it took the form of the latest smartphone and even had three cameras. He took a picture with it.
One of the abilities of his Codex is to see potential. Not power potential per se but that of wealth. When he looked into the picture he took, Thayer sat up. "What?"
Somehow, the guy following Litha and Temur had the potential to be far richer than his father. And his presence with Litha and Temur also added to their potential?
Thayer sucked in a breath. "Wealth, money is also equal to power," he turned to one of his guards. "Quickly, go and find out anything you can about him."
Thaer stood up, ignoring some Climbers who were smiling and trying to get his attention. Everyone wants to curry favor with the rich guy. He turned instead to the team he had assembled so far, powerful Awakeners who were looking for who to sponsor them. Lucky them.
"Hey Tim, you are new here right?" He smiled his deal-sealing smile. "You haven't shownn me what you can do. How about we see it now?"

The registering room was small and made of glistening metals, and it was a one-on-one investigation.
It was as Litha said. They asked him his name, age, which world he came from, and his world's address. The man doing it– Jael didn't know if he should think of a male elf as a man– looked bored until he asked what type of mage he was.
That was where he got confused so he said the only thing that came to his mind. "Necromancer."
The man looked up sharply, and then he began to smile, his ears tilted forward, and he stared at Jael with interest. "Is that so? That's a very rare type of mage. Now, time to measure your Codex." The man gestured to a small crystal on the table.
Jael shook his head. "No, thank you."
The Elf's smile froze but he recovered himself. "Are you sure? Of course, it's not compulsory,y, but you will be able to get more amazing offers from guilds this way."
"I'll think about it later. Is that all?"
The Elf nodded and stood when Jael stood. "Mr Jael, is that your real name? Ah, okay. If you don't mind, I can refer you to a new team that's just coming together to climb the Dungeon Tower together."
"I'll think about it. If that's all."
"Of course, of course." The Elf was smiling till the door was closed. Then he grinned. "Time to forward his information. Finally, I'll get some coins to spend. What luck! Necromancer!"
