Chapter 43
Chapter 43: A Wedding filled with Bad Luck (End)
“Ye Li!”
In the garden of Prince Li’s Manor, Hua Tian Xiang pulled Ye Li along as they talked. Suddenly, up ahead, the figure of a tall person appeared, blocking the road.
“Your Highness, Prince Li, may I ask what is the matter?” Hua Tian Xiang stepped in front of Ye Li, raising her beautiful little face up and asked. Ever since the matter at Chu Xiang Pavillion, the favorable impression that Hua Tian Xiang had of his Highness Prince Li had taken a nose dive. To see him appear in front of them now, it was obvious that Mo Jing Li came to create trouble.
Mo Jing Li frowned unhappily. “This Prince was not looking for you.”
Hua Tian Xiang bluntly said, “Prince Li, shouldn’t you be greeting guests right now? Currently, in this garden, a big portion are maidens from various prestigious families; I am afraid that it is inconvenient for his Highness to be here. Even if his Highness doesn’t care for his reputation; good or bad, his Highness should have some consideration for others.”
“This Prince has something to say to Ye Li, move aside.” Mo Jing Li impatiently said.
“Whatever words need to be said, can be said. Li-er can hear.” Hua Tian Xiang said.
Mo Jing Li narrowed his eyes dangerously, “This Prince said to move aside!”
Hua Tian Xiang wanted to say more, but Ye Li pulled her back. “Tian Xiang, go and see if Murong and the others have arrived. I will be there shortly.”
“But…” Hua Tian Xiang worriedly did a once-over of Mo Jing Li.
Ye Li smiled and said: “Don’t worry. Once Xiu Yao is done speaking with Old Madam Hua, he will come and look for me.”
Hua Tian Xiang heard this and playfully winked at Ye Li. Her voice carried a hint of teasing as she said, “Xiu Yao…ah! Alright, I will go look for Murong. You should… be more careful.” After speaking, she sent Mo Jing Li another warning look before she waved goodbye to Ye Li.
Looking at Hua Tian Xiang’s innocent behavior, on the outside, Ye Li wanted to laugh. Though on the inside, she felt very moved. Hua Tian Xiang was a noble lady who knew the customs; if not for Ye Li, she would not take the initiative and provoke Mo Jing Li. Looking at the disappearing back of Hua Tian Xiang, Mo Jing Li’s face turned so black, ink could be squeezed out.
Waiting until Hua Tian Xiang disappeared from the garden, Ye Li’s smile immediately vanished. She turned and looked at Mo Jing Li, “Your Highness, what is there to say?”
“Ye Li, very good!” Mo Jing Li gritted his teeth and forced the words out.
Ye Li appraised Mo Jing Li from top to bottom. “I do not understand what his Highness wants to say.” Her words still held a hint of warmth.
“Hm! The events of last night, do you think this Prince would just forget?” Mo Jing Li sneered as he stared at her intently.
“I believe…it is not his Highness’s turn to say these kinds of words.” Obviously, he was the one who had someone tie her up and wanted to assault her. Currently, how does it look like she was the one who did something to him? What is wrong with this world? Ye Li couldn’t help but wonder.
“You cannot still want to retaliate against this Prince?” Mo Jing Li said in disdain, looking down on her.
That isn’t necessary. If it were not something big, this lady would’ve already retaliated on the spot. “If his Highness doesn’t have anything else, Ye Li will take her leave.”
“Stop!” Mo Jing Li screamed. Grabbing Ye Li, he wanted to drag her behind the mountain of rocks.
Ye Li looked down at the hand clasped around her wrist. Her face sank, “Your Highness Prince Li, please show some self-respect!”
“Self-respect?” Mo Jing li sneered. “Who do you think you are? Just a woman that this Prince tossed aside. Do you think that if you climbed on Mo Xiu Yao, that’s it? You say… If someone came and saw, would you still have the face to… marry Mo Xiu Yao? It could be said that even that crippled Mo Xiu Yao would abandon you?”
A dangerous glint rippled from Ye Li’s eyes. “Your Highness Prince Li, please let go.”
“This Prince isn’t letting go. What can you possibly do?” Mo Jing Li smiled coldly. He looked at the girl in front of him like a caged bird. Unfortunately, he didn’t know that this girl in front of him looked delicate and slender, but inside was a vicious falcon that attacked people.
The corner of Ye Li’s lips curved up, “How? Just like this!”
Another white and smooth hand, quickly and powerfully, took possession of Mo Jing Li’s arm. Just a bit of force, the pain was akin to needles, dipped in salt water, piercing the heart. Mo Jing Li had not reacted and was forced to the ground by a certain person with one hand. Even more unfortunate, he had pulled the two into a pile of rocks. His head hit the rocks and he fainted. Ye Li did not expect this. She immediately stopped her attack and checked on Mo Jing Li’s condition. Seeing that he was fine, she pulled her leg back and kicked him a few times to vent her anger. Her former job made her more familiar with the structure of the human body. She was especially clear on where to hit a person to not leave evidence, but cause the most pain.
Taming the burning fire in her heart, Ye Li could not help it and frown. Causing Prince Li to faint in his own manor was not a good thing. Especially since it was during his grand wedding. However, this matter wasn’t hard to explain. Glancing at the unconscious person on the ground, Ye Li calmly walked over this obstacle and left.
Leaving the area, going through two turns, she saw the worried faces of Hua Tian Xiang and Murong Ting waiting for her. Seeing Ye Li come, they two rushed to greet her.
“Ye Li, are you alright? Did Prince Li do anything to you?” Murong Ting anxiously clung to Ye Li and questioned.
Ye Li smiled and said: “Look, aren’t I very well? What can he do to me in broad daylight?”
Murong TIng giggled, a bit embarrassed. “Yes, it was I being pessimistic, but you should still keep your distance from Prince Li.” She said.
Hua Tian Ming nodded in agreement. Curiously, she asked: “How did you finish talking so quickly?”
Ye Li shook her hand and said: “There was nothing to be said…ah.”
“Let’s not talk about these sort of people. Let’s go sit and drink some tea. Really envious of Zheng-er, his Excellency Qin had never forced her to attend banquets and festivities that she doesn’t like.”
Ye Li nodded, accompanied the two to a place with a lot of people, and sat down.
Next, the wedding proceeded as scheduled. There was a little embarrassment and shame since the bride was not received during the auspicious hour. Finally, the happy ending wished for was here — if one could overlook the face of someone attending a funeral of Prince Li’s. Ye Li sat beside Hua Tian Xiang, across from Mo Xiu Yao who looked at her with a smile. Then, his eyes turned to Mo Jing Li, eyes ablaze, escorting in Ye Ying; the laughter in his eyes deepening. Almost immediately, Ye Li understand that Mo Xiu Yao knew about what happened with Mo Jing Li this afternoon. However, looking at the inky pair of eyes belonging to Mo Xiu Yao, she felt that things were still incomplete.
Then, when the ceremony was half performed, at the time when the wedding officiator screamed “Husband and Wife, bow to each other,” with a thump, the groom fell to the ground, unable to get up. Ye Li was not the least bit surprised. Her feelings were more: of course. At this time, Ye Li believed that Mo Jing Li probably does not want to hold another wedding ceremony in his lifetime. Anyone who fainted three times within twelves hours of their own wedding must be traumatized.
“How…how could this be?” So surprised, Murong Ting was almost unable to close her mouth.
Stunned, Hua Tian Xiang’s jaw dropped. “This…” She did not know what to say. In fact, she started to be sympathetic towards Ye Ying. Finally getting to the wedding ceremony, yet the groom fainted mid-bow…
“Hah… Ah Li, this Prince Li, isn’t his body a bit too inferior. Fortunately…”
Everyone was shocked by the sudden change. It was still Dowager Imperial Concubine Xian Zhao that reacted quickly. She hurriedly had people escort the bride and groom to their room, calling others two invite an Imperial Doctor. The groom fainted, but the wedding had to continue. The guests didn’t know what to feel. The noble ladies guessed at the reason for Prince Li fainting and considered what kinds of gossips will appear tomorrow in the capital. Ye Li placed all the consequences for knocking Mo Jing Li out in her thoughts, turning the events over. Only after she felt that nothing big should happen did she enjoy the delicious foods with Murong Ting. In a secluded and ordinary corner, a proud man toasted a cup of wine towards where the wedding ceremony was. This wedding… was very interesting.
