Chapter 47: Chapter 47 Effect
Nobunaga's Nen Mastery were inferior to Uvogin's. Both of them are Enhancers, but while Uvogin chose to enhance his own body, Nobunaga focused on enhancing his weapon.
Law decided not to use Ken this time. It was not because he underestimated Nobunaga, but because he did not have much Potential Aura left in his body. If he used Ken, he would not be able to hold on for too long.
Having just finished a battle with Uvogin, most of Law's Aura had already been consumed. Against Nobunaga, relying on Ken would mean exhausting his Potential Aura too quickly.
Potential Aura is the amount of Aura stored in the body. Only through continuous training can one increase its capacity. This isn't something that can be compensated for with skill alone.
Both Law and Uvogin have just stepped into the world of Nen, so if the two of them use Ken, they could only it for five minutes at most.
Standing a hundred meters apart, Law and Nobunaga faced each other.
Seeing that Law only maintained a simple Ten without even utilizing Ren, Nobunaga didn't think that Law was looking down on him, as he understood that Law and Uvogin had just finished a fight.
"Are you sure you don't need to take a break?"
Nobunaga asked, holding his wooden sword horizontally before him, with a faint light floating on the blade.
He injected a small amount of Aura into the wooden sword to increase its strength and sharpness. Though his Aura could strengthen the weapon, it couldn't change the fundamental limitations of a wooden sword.
"No need, just come at me directly." Law said, signaling Nobunaga to make his move.
Nobunaga nodded, and without any hesitation, he stepped on the ground and closed the gap between them with swift strides.
A hundred meters is not far, and Nobunaga quickly closed the distance, while Law stood still, watching Nobunaga's every movement intently.
Seeing that Law didn't move, Nobunaga's expression turned serious. As soon as he entered attack range, he slashed diagonally toward Law's right arm with his Aura-infused wooden sword.
The wooden sword, which is wrapped in Aura, cut through the wind and drew a beautiful arc in the air.
Law pushed off with his back foot and took a small step back to avoid the slash.
Not letting up, Nobunaga stepped forward again. Retrieving the sword from its downward position, he twisted his wrist deftly and thrust the tip of the sword upward toward Law's chin.
Law's eyes narrowed slightly and he sharply leaned his head back, narrowly dodging the upward slash.
'Nobunaga's Nen Mastery may not be as good as Uvogin's, but with the help of his wooden sword, his attacks are far more precise and relentless than Uvogin's. This is the advantage of weapons!'
Law retreated rapidly, while Nobunaga pursued closely. The wooden sword lashed out in slashes and chops, forcing Law to dodge continuously. From an outsider's perspective, it looked as if Law was being overwhelmed and pushed back, unable to find an opening to counterattack.
'You're not going to fight back?'
Nobunaga's eyes were fixed on Law's every move. Though he found it odd, he didn't ease up. As long as he kept pressing, he believed he would eventually land a strike and gain the upper hand.
To onlookers, Law was forced to retreat continuously by Nobunaga's sword. It seemed that Law could not find a chance to fight back and could only be forced to dodge.
But in fact, Law deliberately did not fight back. After seeing that Nobunaga's attack was so fierce, he treated Nobunaga as an outfield server in dodgeball to train his ability to dodge attacks.
Uvogin and Machi, who were watching the scene, were quite surprised. They thought that Nobunaga was so strong that he could force Law on the defensive without any chance to retaliate.
At first, Nobunaga himself was puzzled why Law did not fight back. But as time passed, he began to believe that his relentless offense had left Law no room to respond.
As a result, Nobunaga's confidence skyrocketed, and the speed of his sword swinging actually increased a little.
One minute, two minutes, three minutes...
Nobunaga's confidence swelled with every passing second, and his attacks grew progressively faster. The escalating pressure forced Law into increasingly precarious dodges, each narrowly evading the wooden blade.
In this situation, if Law made a slight mistake when retreating, it could lead to a complete breakdown.
It was as if Law were walking a tightrope at high altitude, requiring extreme caution, as one wrong move would spell failure.
Despite this, Law still insisted on not fighting back. He slowly covered his body with Aura and only focused on dodging Nobunaga's attacks.
What Law wanted was not victory in this spar, but to extract meaningful lessons from the experience.
Compared to Uvogin's straightforward and brute-force punches, he prefers Nobunaga's relentless and storm-like assaults.
As his body moved, dodging left and right, the aura-coated wooden blade swept dangerously close to his head, neck, chest, and arms, making it seem as though Law was dancing on the edge of the blade.
'Faster, faster!'
Law's eyes gradually changed, becoming extremely focused, and even a hint of excitement flashed in the depths of his eyes from time to time.
He was enjoying himself... and even regretted that the weapon in Nobunaga's hand was just a wooden sword, which could not bring him a stronger sense of danger.
As time passed, Nobunaga's stamina began to wane, and he also sensed that something was amiss.
At this moment, he had the same thought as Uvogin before, and a question began to arise in his mind: 'Why couldn't I land a single hit?'
The confidence that had built up earlier now felt like a fragile bubble, ready to burst.
'Could it be that Law is…?'
Nobunaga glanced at Law while swinging his sword, and his eyes twitched slightly. He saw that Law was actually smiling, and he became annoyed in an instant.
'At least let me hit you once!'
Fueled by this singular thought, Nobunaga threw caution to the wind. He abandoned any concerns about a counterattack from Law and put his full force into every swing.
This obvious change made Law's eyes light up.
At this moment, Law was like a player in a dodgeball game, constantly dodging the balls thrown by the outfield players from every direction. Every time he dodged the ball, he would feel a sense of satisfaction.
This was the essence of the joy in dodgeball.
After dodging Nobunaga's sword attacks countless times, Law had... gradually gotten used to Nobunaga's offensive rhythm, and his dodging movements became smoother and more natural.
Only by frequently putting himself in danger can he develop a sharper sensitivity to threats.
Ten minutes later…
"I can't do it anymore."
Nobunaga said as threw away his wooden sword and lay on the ground. His clothes were soaked with sweat, and his chest was heaving violently as he gasped for air.
On the other hand, while Law was also physically taxed, he remained standing. His face was covered in sweat, his chest was heaving slightly, and his breathing was a little disordered.
Uvogin and Machi, who were watching from the sidelines, were at a loss for words.
From start to finish, it had been Nobunaga relentlessly attacking while Law focused solely on dodging.
At first, they both thought that Nobunaga had the upper hand and were surprised at his strength. But as the fight wore on, they realized that Law had intentionally refrained from counterattacking, using the entire session to practice his dodging.
The whole process from beginning to end was quite embarrassing. The match had lasted nearly twenty minutes, but in the end, Nobunaga didn't land a single hit, exhausting himself to the point of collapse.
"You lunatic! At least counterattack once!"
Nobunaga almost went crazy. It would have been fine if Law had fought back, but he just kept dodging. And the fact that he only dodged, but Nobunaga couldn't land even a single blow, was infuriatingly shameful!
Law chuckled, feeling that he had gained a lot from this training match, and immediately said seriously: "Let's continue tomorrow!"
Hearing this, Nobunaga's body trembled, and he felt a wave of despair in his heart.
'I must chop this bastard down tomorrow. If I can't, I'll just give up using a sword altogether!'
He silently vowed to himself, clenching his teeth in frustration.
Law didn't know what Nobunaga was thinking. But if he knew, he would probably let Nobunaga hit him with the sword on purpose. Otherwise, there might be one less expert in sword-wielding Enhancer in the future.
