Chapter 54: Chapter 54 Meeting Hisoka Again

Law was talking about how the Elder used Machi and the others as bargaining chips.

Chrollo understood, and his response was 'a wise man is one who knows the times'.

Upon hearing this, Law dropped the topic. He had only brought it up in passing, and he knew that Chrollo was a person who would remain extremely calm when faced with such things. He is someone who knew how to accurately identify the situation and how to make choices.

If one sought to gain control but lacked the power to claim it, then the best course was to bide one's time and prepare.

This might be what Chrollo is doing.

Moreover, if anything were to happen to Machi and the others, Chrollo would never stand idly by.

Law can be sure of this, as can be seen from the Cook incident.

Walking in silence behind Chrollo, Law then started thinking about the mission that would start the day after tomorrow.

'The mission will take half a month. After completing the mission, I will return to Meteor City and stay for a while. Then, I can leave Meteor City after I become strong enough.'

Now, Law's Nen Mastery has reached a certain level and he can be classified as a second-rate Nen User. And if he goes to the Heavens Arena, reaching the 200th floor will not be a problem at all.

With this level of strength, it is enough to leave the novice village, Meteor City.

However, the reason why Law didn't want to leave was because of the sword, Shin.

Before he leaves, Law was determined to obtain Shin. However, knowing how highly the Elder valued his collection, Law realized the Elder would never willingly part with it.

Therefore, if Law wanted to get Shin, he had to either steal it or take tough measures, that is, robbing.

The possibility of successfully stealing it is extremely low, and most likely, it will end up as robbery.

Since it was an open robbery, Law had to possess great strength to ensure that he could rob Shin and escape unscathed. With his current strength, it was impossible for him to do so no matter how hard he tried.

The two walked forward in silence until they reached the main road, and never spoke another word.

After bringing Law to the main road, Chrollo looked at him and said calmly: "I'll leave you here."

Law glanced toward the far end of the main road and remarked, "It's still some distance away, but it's better than leaving me in the alley like last time."

Chrollo shot him a brief look before turning and walking away without a word.

Law quietly watched Chrollo's figure disappear around the corner, then he withdrew his gaze, raised his head and sighed softly.

The moon hung high in the night sky, surrounded by thick, slowly drifting clouds. Not a single star was visible.

'The day after tomorrow...'

Law stared at the slowly moving clouds in the night sky, then looked away after a moment.

Outside Meteor City, there is a bustling metropolis in the Hunter x Hunter World. This mission was his next step.

Law smiled slightly and walked straight to the end of the main street.

Buildings lined the street on both sides had their doors and windows sealed shut. Every hundred meters, there was a dim lamp hanging on the wall, which was the street lighting facility.

Looking at the road ahead, it is dark and silent, and behind him, faint light and muted noise emanated from the bars.

Law glanced back at the distant glow of the bars before refocusing on the road ahead. He could not see anyone as far as he could see, as if he was the only person on the street.

Every hundred meters, a lamp dimly lit the way, leaving stretches of darkness in between. The light was just enough to guide his steps.

After walking for about ten minutes, Law stopped beneath a wall lamp. It's because there was a person standing in the darkness more than a hundred meters away where the light could not reach.

The clouds in the night sky passed over the full moon, and the bright moonlight fell down, illuminating the figure in the shadows.

It was a young man with short red hair.

Law stared at the boy, and a hint of helplessness flashed across his eyes. Then, he said seriously: "Of all the people I could meet on this street, you're the last one I wanted to see."

The red-haired boy was none other than Hisoka.

Since their last encounter at Cook's hideout, Hisoka never saw Law again, because Law almost never went to East District again.

"How cold of you. I, on the other hand, have been longing to see you… Gon."

Hisoka stepped forward leisurely until he was beneath a lamp. His slender almond-shaped eyes were slightly curved, brewing indescribable excitement.

The distance between the two wall lights is one hundred meters, so the two people now stood one hundred meters apart.

Law stretched out his fingers and rubbed his eyebrows, then sighed, "Can't you let me off, Sokahi?"

Hisoka slowly raised his pale, slender hand and covered his face. His pupils quivered ever so slightly before he burst into a low, sinister laugh.

That laughter was filled with very complex emotions, though the most evident one was excitement.

"My name is Hisoka, not Sokahi. Remember that, Law."

Hisoka's upper body leaned forward slightly, and even his voice began to tremble slightly, still due to being too excited.

He had investigated Law and later found out where he lived. He also knew that Law had been training hard during this period, but even after knowing that, he had never come to see Law.

Because a stronger Law held far more value in being destroyed.

"Uh, Gon is actually just my nickname." Law replied after hearing Hisoka call him by his real name. Simultaneously, he subtly shifted into a defensive stance.

Hisoka didn't respond with words. Instead, he took his first step toward Law, deliberately and slowly.

Law felt extremely helpless upon seeing this. Even though this was only their second encounter, he already felt like Hisoka was some inescapable ghost haunting him.

"How about this? I'll introduce you to an incredible opponent. How does that sound?" Law stared at Hisoka's movements, his Aura pouring out from his Aura Nodes and covering his body. He was thinking about introducing Chrollo, who had always kept a low profile, to Hisoka.

"That's not good." Hisoka replied as his steps quickened. He put down the hand that was covering his face, revealing his face that was beginning to distort slightly. While striding forward, he slightly raised his head and inhaled deeply, as if he was sniffing a rose.

"I want... to destroy you!"

Suddenly, Hisoka lowered his head, and his Aura surged, forming a sinister and oppressive presence that rolled outward like waves and arrived in front of Law in an instant.

Law felt a chilling dread rise from the depths of his heart. Then, he saw Hisoka charged toward him at an alarming speed.

To Law, this fight was utterly pointless, but he had no choice but to take it on.

With a soft sigh, a faint white light appeared in both of Law's hands, which is hanging at his sides, forming spheres the size of a basketball.

When Hisoka rushed to about ten meters in front of Law, he suddenly squatted down, staring at Law with an intense, predatory focus.

When Law saw what Hisoka did, his brows furrowed. Just as he was confused, he saw a green trash can flying over Hisoka's head and towards him at lightning speed.

'It's Bungee Gum...!'

Law was quite familiar with this scene. Hisoka has stuck Bungee Gum to the trash can when he was about seven or eight meters back, then used the elastic property to pull it toward himself. He used his body to cover the trash can, making its appearance seem hasty and abrupt.

The reason for doing this is to create an opening for an attack.

Caught off guard, Law had no time to dodge and could only raise his hands to block the trash can.

The trash can was split into two halves on contact, flying far behind him.

'It's severed again.'

A cold light flashed in Hisoka's eyes, and the corners of his mouth formed a dangerous arc. He then moved closer and punched Law.

This ability... was clearly the perfect counter to his Bungee Gum.
