Chapter 313

Chapter 313. A Night in Gangwon-do Behind (1)

News of Kairos’ trip to a pension in Gangwon-do spread to the Destis faster than expected.

It was all because of a single photo that Hajin uploaded to the official account as soon as they arrived back in Seoul early the next morning.

**Kairos @Daily_KIRUS**

[Hajin] Hello, Destis 🙂

We’re doing well and staying healthy.

Don’t worry too much.

We’ll bring you some news soon (gift emoji).

It was the first official communication since the news of Eunchan’s accident, and the Destis responded quickly.

**[Are they on vacation?]**

Seeing that Eunchan isn’t in the bonfire photo, it seems recent. I hope they take this chance to rest properly ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅜㅜㅜㅠㅠ Though it breaks my heart to see Eunchan with bandages on his face, seeing him smile makes me feel a bit relieved ㅠㅠㅜㅜㅜㅜㅠㅜㅠㅜ

I was really in a rage mode after hearing about Eunchan, but seeing them all smiling in the photo brought tears to my eyes…ㅠㅜㅠㅜㅠㅜㅠ

– Same. I was 20000% pissed off until last night, but seeing the photo this morning calmed me down… Be happy, guys…

– I’m so grateful they shared the photo ㅠㅠ It’s such a relief they all seem okay.

– It’s probably not a vacation; Taehyun and Siwoo have schedules today.

– I heard from Twitter that the bonfire photo looks like it was taken at a pension owned by Taehyun’s parents in Gangwon-do!

└ How do people find out stuff like this?? There’s nothing in the photo to indicate that. What are they even looking at?

└ I don’t know either; I just read it on Twitter and shared it.

**[I’ve made up my mind after seeing the photo]**

I’ll crash my car into the bastard who caused the accident and go to prison for you ㅇㅇ

Who’s in?

– Me! I’m ready to accept 100:0 liability and just crash into them.

– Go ahead. I’ll testify as a witness and give you a favorable statement.

– Open a fundraising form so I can pay for a lawyer right now.

– I’ll cry my heart out during the prison visit.

– I’ll treat you to tofu snacks when you get out!

– Calm down, guys. You’re scaring me because it sounds like you’re actually going to do it.

**JuJu Club @jjclubjj**

Seeing Eunchan’s face and arms covered in bandages breaks my heart, but seeing him smile so maturely next to his hyungs makes me bawl…..

Get well soon, our adorable king of cuteness ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ

With just one photo, the seemingly frozen time of Kairos began to move again. Despite the massive influx of new fans due to their year-end activities, the sudden controversy and rumors had dampened the fandom’s atmosphere. However, things started to return to normal.

As news of Eunchan’s condition, the biggest concern among the fandom, was revealed, fans of the other members, who had been cautiously watching the Eunchan-biased fans, also began to slowly come out of their shells.

Amidst this atmosphere, the next to reach out to the Destis was Taehyun, who had been silent since the Boy’s World controversy.

**Cherrish Boy @CHBY0723**

Taehyun just sent a Pop-Pop (paid communication message)!!

He shared selfies and stories from the bonfire.

He said he went down to his family home because of some work, and the members all came to help him out! ㅠ

Kairos is truly like family…☆

**TaeRi Day @tae_day**

So you’re telling me that they went to a pension for a trip, and the part-timers were Kang Hajin, Seo Taehyun, and Dan Haru, and when they went to eat, the servers were Jung Siwoo, Lee Doha, and Lee Yugeon?

This insane universe actually exists???

Are you kidding me??? Hand over the CCTV footage right now.

**Ggamju @ggamjooV**

It’s ridiculous that this crazy universe doesn’t include Eunchan.

Please include our Eunchan too ㅠ

**TaeRi Day @tae_day**

Let’s make Eunchan the boss.

The boss doesn’t have to watch over the store.

**[I know I shouldn’t be thinking this]**

But I’m really sad that this wasn’t filmed as a show…ㅎ

They went to relax, so of course it wasn’t, but stillㅠㅠㅜㅜㅠ I want to see the part-timer Kairos tooㅠㅠㅠㅜㅜㅜㅜㅜ

– No, same here. When I first heard about it, I was like, wow, I wish I could see thatㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

– From Taehyun’s story, it sounds like this was really a spontaneous thing.ㅠㅠㅠ But I still wish that after Eunchan gets better, the seven of them would go back to the pension and film a reality show.

└ Exactly. It’s a shame, but it looks like they had a great time resting and having fun… I’ll be satisfied with just a livestream story…ㅎ

└ Let’s go from 새김고 to 새김하우스.

└ I really wish they’d film a restaurant variety showㅋㅋㅋㅋㅎㅎ They do that a lot these days.

– I can imagine Hajin or Yugeon, but I’m really curious about the others, especially Haru…

└ 22 I feel like our youngest would be having so much fun scanning barcodes that he’d be at it 24/7, but would that be okay?

The news that my idols had gone all the way to Gangwon-do to work part-time was refreshing, and it gave the Destis, who had been bombarded with gloomy news, a much-needed dopamine boost and piqued their curiosity.

However, since it wasn’t a shoot, there were no videos, and the only stories were the ones Taehyun shared through his paid messages.

With no eyewitness accounts surfacing, most Destis were content with thinking, ‘At least we heard some happy news,’ and moved on.

…Until that afternoon, when a post appeared on a certain community.

**[Tackers’ Choice! ║ Dad went on a hiking club picnic and got hustled at Go-Stop by an idol (351)]**

At that moment, it was an eyewitness account as precious as lottery numbers!

As soon as I saw the title, I thought:

‘No way.’

There’s no way this is about us, right? No way?

This incredibly fun-sounding eyewitness account that could easily get over 100,000 views just from a YouTube thumbnail?

Even though the group of customers at the neighboring restaurant was a hiking club, and the members who went to work there came back with a suspicious amount of cash, there’s no way this is about us, right?

‘Wow. The more I think about it, the more it seems like it’s us.’

I quickly abandoned all hope and clicked on the title. Just a moment ago, there were roughly 350 comments, but in that short time, the number had increased to 500. My hands were shaking as I wondered what someone had witnessed to generate that level of buzz.

Although I was confident that we hadn’t done anything problematic when we were caught, you never know with people.

Without Taehyun, the only one with a brake, Jung Siwoo, Lee Doha, and Lee Yugeon were just maniacs 1 and 2 and a capitalism-crazed maniac 1.

“Just imagining any of the three as a gambling hustler seems too believable, which makes me even more anxious….”

Feeling more than just anxious now, I slowly scrolled down.

Soon, the long post filled my phone screen, overflowing with the author’s excitement and enthusiasm.

**[Tackers’ Choice! ║ Dad went on a hiking club picnic and got hustled at Go-Stop by an idol (518)]**

This is 100% real, no lie. I swear on my boring, dull 2N-year life, this is the first time something this thrilling has ever happened to me, so I’m writing this to preserve the memory. I’ll delete it if it causes any problems.

Where do I even start explaining this?

So, let me introduce my dad first.

My dad loves the mountains. He also loves having fun.

It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say he’s climbed every mountain in Korea.

He’s been in a hiking club for 10 years now.

(…)

After quickly skimming through the intro, I scrolled down without hesitation.

Sure enough, the post continued with photos of a middle-aged man in hiking gear with his face covered by emojis. It explained how the author’s father and his hiking club had gone on a large group trip to Gangwon-do for the first time in three years.

Seeing the word ‘Gangwon-do’ in the text as I skimmed diagonally through the content, I gave up the last bit of hope.

Unless there was some early university festival held in Gangwon-do that day, there couldn’t possibly have been another idol group in Gangwon-do who met a hiking club at a restaurant on the same day as us.

So, I started reading the part where the problem ‘idol’ appeared more carefully.

(…….)

Anyway, there were about three young male part-timers at the restaurant, and my dad said they were all so tall and handsome that he couldn’t help but keep looking at them, and they left a strong impression on him.

So, since the restaurant was one where his hiking club frequently stopped after climbing, and my dad was friendly with the owner, he asked who they were. The owner said they were just some neighbors’ sons and their friends who came to help out for the day.

(…….)

My dad and his friends were playing Go-Stop, and one of the uncles kept losing money and started getting in a bad mood. Maybe it was the alcohol, but he started to make a scene.

So, the tallest and biggest part-timer came over to calm him down, but the uncle, probably drunk (sorry, but that’s how my dad put it), wouldn’t listen ㅠㅜㅜㅜㅜ

Then, that part-timer suddenly said in a really blunt? voice, “Then, if I win back the money you lost, will that solve the problem?” And he asked really politely!

It’s Doha.

This is Doha for sure.

The description of him being the tallest and biggest, as well as the fact that he immediately looked for a solution when a problem arose, even if it was an extreme one, screamed Doha.

‘No wonder they had so many coins and small bills…!’

I continued reading the post.

It went on to describe how Doha sat down in place of the drunken uncle and not only won back four times the money he had lost but also completely won over other uncles who were so worked up that they kept changing the game to Yut, Janggi, and Omok.

The fact that all the games were old-fashioned made me think it could be Yugeon, who lived with his grandfather and had become the mascot of the local senior center…

(…….)

So, when the drunk uncle tried to give all the money back to the part-timer, who was in a good mood, the part-timer, again really politely but firmly, said,

“As part of my professional ethics, I cannot accept money involved in gambling.”

My dad was so impressed by this that he memorized it word for word and kept reciting it. He thought, is this guy a cop?

This is definitely Doha…!

‘Then what on earth did the other two do to make money…? And if he refused the money, why did he bring it back?’

I had only identified one of them so far, and I was already feeling dizzy.

I didn’t have the courage to scroll further down.
