Happy Evil Heartbreaker [Modern LitRPG]

Chapter 39: Class Dynamics

Even though it was early October, in Madrigal, the provincial capital of Thessaloniki Province in the south, the weather stubbornly refused to cool down.

Madrigal indeed lacked distinct seasons, with summers that seemed to drag on indefinitely, and autumns that felt almost nonexistent.

But as time progressed, the temperature would suddenly drop, transitioning abruptly from summer to winter, catching people off guard and making them susceptible to illnesses.

On this particular day, the weather was splendid, with clear skies stretching endlessly, devoid of any clouds. Those who enjoyed such sunny weather would surely be in high spirits.

However, for the students of Class 3 in their first year of high school, who were diligently tackling their holiday assignments with fervor, their mood might not be as delightful. There was an inexplicable sense of unease, a lack of reassurance.

Indeed, even though their form teacher, Emmanuel El Alcantara, had emphasized the importance of the monthly exams before the break and advised the students not to overindulge during the holidays, it seemed to have little effect on some students.

After the holidays, with assignments left unfinished, they scrambled to complete them upon returning to school, a classic scenario repeated time and again.

Xanthia's desk mate, Dematero, was already in the classroom early, engrossed in catching up on his own assignments.

Being one of the top students in the class, ranked "7th," he naturally disdained copying others' work. Moreover, he didn't leave any assignment untouched, so he had plenty of spare time in the afternoon to complete them effortlessly.

Dematero couldn't help but feel like a genius in managing his time.

After all, theoretically speaking, the time in the afternoon could still be considered part of the holiday. Thus, utilizing this time to the fullest seemed perfectly reasonable. He was indeed quite diligent!

Yet, he couldn't fathom why the seemingly endless long vacation passed by so quickly!

Before the holidays, he had returned home with great enthusiasm, intending to bring back various review materials, believing he would adequately prepare for the monthly exams...

But the reality was far from his expectations. He hadn't even touched any of the review materials—let alone completed his assignments. What review?!

"I must be suffering from severe procrastination," Dematero sighed inwardly.

But who could resist the joy of procrastination?

If Dematero were to become a writer in the future, he would probably be the kind of 'delayed update beast' that readers hated to love.

Students like Dematero were certainly not uncommon. Those currently frantically completing their assignments in the classroom were undoubtedly part of this category.

Apart from students catching up on assignments, there was a variety of activities happening in the classroom.

Some were chatting idly, some engrossed in their phones, some munching on snacks, some flipping through magazines, and some scrambling to review for the upcoming exams.

Among them, the most carefree was Sunny, the fervent soccer enthusiast. Yes, the same guy whose soccerball got tainted by "Piss King" Jimmy.

Today, Sunny sported a full set of Real Madrid's white jersey and a pair of golden Nike soccer boots, showing off his freestyle soccer skills at the back of the classroom. He was also rallying his classmates who shared his passion for soccer, planning to enjoy themselves on the playground during the last moments of the afternoon break.

However, to his dismay, there weren't many soccer enthusiasts in Class 3 of the first year, but there were plenty of students who loved playing basketball.

Representing them was Marcus, the "NBA aristocrat." His basketball skills were commendable, proficient in dribbling and driving to the basket, although his shooting was lackluster, often resulting in "four layups, three misses." Despite this, he proudly declared himself a fan of Sicken Curry.

With just a shout from Marcus, several ball buddies would respond, and even if there were none in their own class, he could find partners from other classes. Sunny envied his ability to rally others.

Failing to gather any interest, Sunny could only chat with his buddy Makarios while freestyling at the back of the classroom. Makarios, the sneaky chubby kid, occupied the last row of the classroom, near the miscellaneous room.

Makarios was currently copying assignments, a method he preferred. While copying, he asked Sunny, "Monkey, have you finished all your assignments?"

"Fatty pervert, have you been sniffing glue? I haven't finished my assignments, what are you copying now?" Sunny retorted.

Makarios slapped his forehead. "I almost forgot. Your grades are pretty good. You're ranked over twenty in the class."

Sunny sighed, "Having good grades isn't necessarily a good thing. If I were failing hopelessly, maybe I'd pursue my soccer dream directly. Who knows, I might become the savior of the national team!"

Makarios scoffed, "With your short and skinny monkey-like physique?"

"Curse you! Soccer isn't basketball. The GOAT in our soccer world is a shorty. He even has dwarfism!"

Though Sunny was a die-hard Ronaldi fan and used to look down on Messo, finding his spirit too bland, after the World Cup crowning of the GOAT, he was awestruck.

Makarios, habitually ready to tease further, suddenly activated his "beauty radar" and locked onto the front door of the classroom. It was none other than Elena La Loannou, carrying her backpack, finally entering the classroom.

Today, they didn't have to wear uniforms. Of course, she had taken care to dress herself up. Elena wore a stylish, fresh-looking dress with canvas shoes, her hair tied in a simple ponytail with a cute hair clip adorning her forehead. A faint smile graced her face, radiating a gentle charm.

Although Elena's appearance wasn't outstanding, she had a knack for accentuating her strengths. Her impeccable sense of style elevated her overall charm, making her quite appealing.

When Dematero saw Elena enter the classroom, his pen halted, completely captivated by her. With his personal filter in place, he felt Elena at that moment was extraordinarily beautiful!

What thrilled him even more was that Elena's gaze briefly met his, but she seemed to shyly look away, a hint of blush on her face. Didn't that mean she was also interested in him?

Is he hallucinating?

The greatest joy in life is when the girl you secretly admire also likes you back.

At this moment, Dematero didn't even want to do his assignments. He just wanted to compose a poem immediately to express his inner feelings...

At the back of the classroom, Makarios only glanced at Elena a few times, then commented, "Her style is already fixed, too rigid. She lacks potential. Better admired from afar. Insufficient in raw beauty, relying solely on charm to deceive those inexperienced boys. In gaming terms, she's just a front-line hero in the early stages, only to become a super minion in the late game."

Sunny, still calmly freestyling, had long been accustomed to Makarios's sharp criticisms of girls. He didn't join in but simply remarked, "Fatty Makario, don't be too quick to judge. Our class's girls look pretty cool today, much better than in uniforms."

Just as he finished speaking, Luciel La Lebrador, who was casually wearing her uniform without any effort to spruce up, dashed into the classroom, fully immersed in her studies once she returned to her seat...

Sunny choked, silently complaining in his heart, "Luciel, oh Luciel, you're recognized as the 'class flower' by our class's boys. Can't you put a little effort into your appearance? You're such a buzzkill!"

Makarios murmured, "Great potential, but her complexion is a drawback..."

And at that moment, entering the classroom in an absolutely eye-catching JK uniform, with stylish short hair, Xanthia, with her undeniable charm, seemed like a cute high school girl straight out of a manga, capturing the attention of all present.
