Harpia Harpyja

The Wolf

In some of my spare time, I've added to the glossary, so there are now secondary characters and school staff listed. If you have other ideas for things to be added to the glossary, let me know in the comments.

"Uh, sure?" I said, a little stunned at the wolfkin's words. "But are we allowed to spar in the library?"

"Of course not, silly," Nara told me. "We have to go to the sparring classroom to do that. I'll lead ya." She turned and walked out of the library.

"Why did we even come here then!?" Kathyrine complained as we caught up to Nara.

"It's a good meeting place," The wolfkin explained. "It's quiet and ain't as busy as other, more well-known places in the school. As for why we don't just spar right here? It's a fuckin' library, mate! The books are precious and the librarian is a monster. Well, not literally but ya get my point. Ya don't mess with him or his books. Ever."

"Noted," I mumbled to myself. "What's he like?"

"Eh, not that bad when you get to know 'em," Nara said. "He stays at his little bench, either working through papers or helping people check out books. And if something bad happens he immediately stops it."

As she finished her sentence, we arrived at the sparring classroom. Somehow, we had gotten here so much faster than I had thought possible, considering the time it took to get to the library from our room.

Instead of going toward the sparring mats, Nara led the way over to one of the walls, where several box offices were. Nara went up to one and spoke with the person there. After a minute, she came back over, holding a card.

"I got us a private sparring room," She explained. "I saw your fight in the re-placement test and I know how I fight too. C'mon."

She turned down a hallway I hadn't noticed and walked until she found a door labeled "A-6". She pressed the card to it and opened in before stepping inside. It was spacious, with enough room for me to fly in a decently large circle comfortably. In addition, there was a magic glass box nearby where other people could watch anyone fighting while staying safe.

"Are ya ready?" Nara asked.

"No, not quite," I replied.

"Alright, well, let me know when you are," Nara said. She held up her hand and her massive axe materialized in her palm. She dropped it to the ground and began polishing the blade.

I followed Scarlet and Kathyrine into the viewing box to talk.

"Are you really gonna fight her?" Kathyrine asked, her tail coiling around me leg.

"Yeah, what's the harm?" I responded. "And besides, if it goes well we'll have a fourth with us tonight." Here, my catkin turned bright red and hid her face in my boobs.

"That would be fun," Scarlet said. "Go spar. We'll wait in here."

I exited the box and walked up to Nara.

"Are ya ready?" She asked. I nodded and she smiled. "Alright, do you know the ground rules of private sparring rooms?"

"No," I answered.

"Then I'll explain," Nara said. "There are no battle-to-the-death fights allowed, and you're also not allowed to cause severe or lasting bodily harm. Also, you can't damage the room beyond what it can fix by itself. Other than that, you can do pretty much anything you want to. Make sense?"

"How much damage is too much damage?" I asked.

"Any cuts or impacts that go deeper than two feet," Nara replied. "And any Death-type magic spell residue. Other than that, everything goes. Ready?"

"As much as I'll get," I said. "Let's do this."

"Hey, dragon girl!" Nara shouted at Scarlet. "Be our ref, will ya?"

"Sure," Scarlet said. Both Nara and I walked to two sides of the room. She hoisted her axe above her shoulder and I prepared my magic.

Ever since I had made those ice guns during my fight in the re-placement test, I had been trying to turn it into a single spell for me to use easily during my free time. I had succeeded, but it still took a decent amount of time to form, and even longer if I used any other magic while I did it.

So I cast the spell twice at the beginning of the battle so that I could get the guns once they were completed. In the beginning, though, I would have to go on my regular magic.

"Ready?" Scarlet asked. "Three, two, one, go!"

And the battle began.
