Chapter 4: Chapter 4: The Unfinished Threads
After what felt like hours wandering through the endless paths, Alexander and Tom found themselves back in the labyrinth—but not alone. Hades himself appeared, his figure cloaked in shadows that rippled like fire. His piercing gaze fell on the siblings.
"You're not ready," he said bluntly, his voice echoing through the air. "The labyrinth tests the brave, but courage alone cannot sustain you."
Tom bristled. "We made it this far!"
Hades raised a hand to silence him. "Far, yes. But not far enough. Strength without preparation leads to ruin. In two years, you will go to Hogwarts. Until then, you will learn, grow, and master your gifts."
Alexander frowned. "Hogwarts? But—"
"Silence," Hades commanded. "I have arranged for a teacher to guide you."
Before either could protest further, a figure stepped forward—a tall man with an air of mystique, carrying an ancient staff. His eyes sparkled with wisdom and mischief.
"This is Balthazar Blake," Hades said. "He will teach you magic—both from Merlin's school and Morgana's."
Blake smiled, producing two rings. He handed one, adorned with a dragon emblem, to Alexander. "The Ring of Merlin," he explained. Then, he gave Tom a darker, intricate ring. "And the Ring of Morgana."
"Why both?" Tom asked, curious.
"Because you will be trained in both paths of magic," Balthazar replied. "To understand the balance of power, you must master both light and dark."
Over the following weeks, the siblings threw themselves into their training. Under Balthazar's tutelage, they quickly earned the title of "magic geniuses," their progress astounding even their demanding teacher.
But Hades had more in mind. Alongside magical lessons, he brought in a scientist, Dr. Emil Faulkner, to teach them the intricacies of science and alchemy. "Magic and science are two sides of the same coin," Hades explained. "Master both, and the tapestry bends to your will."
Thus began the siblings' most intense period of growth, their days filled with spell craft, potions, and theories of the universe itself. And though the labyrinth's whispers still lingered in their minds, they knew their journey was only beginning.
