Chapter 396: Chapter 396: Aegwynn's Child
The expressions of the three sisters, resembling mischievous girls caught in the act, immediately alerted Alaric.
Especially since Talonixa was one of them.
In the Game of Thrones world, when the three sisters were still young, they often played pranks within Daenerys's domain.
For instance, they would steal the shepherds' sheep or burn the army's flags and farmers' haystacks.
Whenever they were caught in such mischief by Alaric, Ysera and Alexstrasza would wear expressions like this—of course, in dragon form, as the ability to take on human forms was granted only after becoming guardian dragons.
However, whether in human or dragon form, Alaric could recognize such expressions; after all, they were "father and daughters."
If it were merely small pranks, Talonixa's boldness and temperament would have her act nonchalantly, completely unconcerned.
But if even Talonixa felt embarrassed, it meant they had made a significant mistake.
Thus, Alaric deliberately adopted a serious expression and looked at them.
"Now, tell me, what have you done to Aegwynn?"
Upon seeing their "father's" familiar angry face, they became even more timid. The three guardian dragons looked like children scolded by their parents, heads bowed in silence.
As if hoping this would help them escape unscathed.
Alaric was quite familiar with this tactic of theirs. However, in the Game of Thrones world, they had their mother, Daenerys, to intervene. T
he indulgent Mother of Dragons was always reluctant to let Alaric scold them, so she would usually take them away before he could finish his lecture.
But now, there was no Daenerys to protect them.
Alaric was determined to assert his authority as a father.
Finally, under Alaric's stern gaze, Alexstrasza couldn't hold back any longer and took the initiative to confess.
"Well… Father, I… I admit my mistake. The primary responsibility for this incident lies with me; please don't blame my sister and younger sister."
If outsiders were to hear such a conversation, they would find it quite discordant.
Among the four of them, the one calling himself "father" had a remarkably youthful voice, while the "daughters" spoke in voices that sounded much more mature.
Yet, the four of them found nothing strange about it.
"Alright, go ahead and tell me," Alaric said, arms crossed, slowly.
"I will determine the responsibilities of the three of you based on your words. If you are honest, I might consider reducing your punishment."
Alexstrasza, upon hearing this, let out a sigh of relief and was about to speak when Talonixa interrupted.
"Sister, don't listen to him; don't say anything!" The golden dragon queen urged. "As long as we don't say anything, he has no reason to…"
"Be quiet!" Talonixa's words were interrupted by Alaric, who grabbed the tall golden-haired queen and placed her on his lap.
"To make mistakes and then try to conceal them while leading your sister astray? I don't recall teaching you that."
Alaric raised his hand threateningly and said, "Now, let's remind you of your father's lessons."
With that, he brought his hand down, striking Talonixa's ample backside.
"Smack!"
A crisp sound echoed as Talonixa screamed.
"You… you actually hit my bottom!"
"I hit exactly where you deserve!" Feeling the tender and bouncy sensation, Alaric showed no mercy and struck again.
"Smack!"
"I'm not a child anymore!" Talonixa protested.
"Then you should make fewer mistakes!" Her resistance was suppressed by her father once more.
"Smack!"
…
The sharp sounds mingled with Talonixa's cries, but gradually, due to the incomparable sensation, Alaric's slaps became lighter, and Talonixa's yelps sounded more like a cat's mew.
Looking at her now, the golden dragon queen lay on Alaric's lap like a small kitten, gazing up at him with wide eyes, as if about to shed tears.
Her golden hair was disheveled, and her face bore an unusual flush.
The atmosphere felt strangely awkward.
Looking over at Alexstrasza and Ysera, they both watched, a mix of excitement and shyness on their faces…
—It felt like Alaric's authority had been diminished in front of his daughters (sister).
Both Alaric and Talonixa shared this thought and, almost in unison, moved apart.
After a while, the atmosphere finally returned to normal.
However, Talonixa didn't attempt to resist again, allowing Alexstrasza to narrate everything.
According to the red dragon queen, after defeating Sargeras alongside Aegwynn, out of curiosity, they became friends with the powerful human mage.
This was yet another difference between them and the guardian dragons in the original storyline.
Having been raised by two humans, Alaric and Daenerys, the three mother dragons understood the extraordinary nature of mortals and were more willing to engage with them.
After all, their parents were mortals; how could they look down on them?
This was something that the original-born aspects of the drakes couldn't achieve; their innate power and duty to protect the world made them proud and even arrogant, and most other dragons hardly cared about mortals' opinions.
After befriending the guardian dragons, Aegwynn seemed to have found peers with whom she could interact on equal terms.
This formidable guardian had always looked down on associating with other mages; even the Tirisfal Council was, in her eyes, merely archaic and outdated.
Her immense power trapped her in the loneliness of the strong.
Yet, the guardian dragons were different from those mortals; they shared the same formidable strength as Aegwynn, along with centuries of accumulated wisdom and experience.
Thus, Aegwynn often sought advice from her guardian dragon friends.
When, decades ago, Aegwynn was pressured by the Tirisfal Council to find a successor, filled with dissatisfaction, she considered having a child of her own to pass on her power.
However, as proud as she was, she was quite unwilling to bear offspring with those mediocre mortals; that was an insult to her.
She knew that her three guardian dragon friends did not have mates either but could still lay eggs, allowing the dragon legions to reproduce. Hence, she approached them, requesting their assistance in this matter.
In fact, Talonixa and the others' ability to lay eggs independently stemmed from their dragon lineage in the Game of Thrones world.
After much research, even the magically adept Aegwynn and the life-controlling Alexstrasza couldn't find a perfect way to replicate this trait.
However, their studies did yield results: they successfully developed a method to allow females to become pregnant using limited male genetic material (though not worded this way in magic).
This could be seen as an upgraded version of in vitro fertilization.
Yet, while this technique spared the proud Aegwynn from being sullied, it still required her to seek a father for her future child.
Who among mortals was worthy of Aegwynn to be the father?
At that moment, the three guardian dragons offered their assistance to Aegwynn again, proposing that they knew of a highly suitable father and possessed a sample of his genetic material to provide to her.
Listening to her three dragon friends extol the virtues of this father to the heavens, Aegwynn finally agreed.
Then, she gave birth to a…
Daughter?
