Highschool DxD: I have a Dimensional Travel System

Chapter 19 – Strength Improved!

Chapter 19 - Strength Improved!

"Congratulations to the host for obtaining the Mystic Eye of Distortion."

When the spinning roulette wheel stopped, the system prompt sounded, landing on a reward.

"Another magic eye?" Mahiro remarked, a strange look in his eyes.

Previously, he had obtained the Mystic Eye of Death Perception, and now he had the Mystic Eye of Distortion. Both were special magic eyes. He wondered if he would draw another magic eye next time.

Mahiro shook his head with a laugh.

He had some understanding of the Mystic Eye of Distortion. Recalling his memory, he knew it was from an anime called "The Legend of the Legendary Heroes." Although it didn't have many scenes, its performance was brilliant.

The holder of the Mystic Eye of Distortion had once completely destroyed a fully armed magic army with its special ability. If he remembered correctly, it could devour mana and nullify magic.

Mahiro focused on his prize, the Mystic Eye of Distortion.

Item: Mystic Eye of Distortion (Lino Doue) (System Adaptation Lite)

Grade: B

Effect: The item enhances the host's physical fitness, can devour magic power through contact, and convert the absorbed energy to heal the body or explosively improve physical fitness.

Source: The Legend of the Legendary Heroes

Note: With the host's current strength, it can absorb and transform the strongest blow of an Ultimate-Class Devil at most. Please don't provoke creatures above this level.

"Has the system modified it again?" Mahiro noted that the system had adapted both the Mystic Eye of Distortion and the Mystic Eye of Death Perception for simplified use.

"Huh? It even gave a warning this time. How considerate," Mahiro mused. Unlike the Mystic Eye of Death Perception, the Mystic Eye of Distortion came with a warning.

"By the way, what would happen if I absorbed an attack exceeding the Ultimate-Class Devil level?" Mahiro asked.

"The body would collapse, or it would explode. The strongest blow of an Ultimate-Class Devil is already the limit the host can withstand. Even if you survive such an attack, recovering would take a long time. Please do not test this out of curiosity," the system replied.

Mahiro nodded in understanding.

The strongest blow of an Ultimate-Class Devil!

Although Ultimate-Class Devils couldn't compare to beings like the Maou Class (Satan), they were still very powerful, standing at the top tier. In fact, within the Devil's hierarchy, Ultimate-Class Devils were considered the highest class, with positions like Maou being outside this classification.

If the level of Ultimate-Class Devils was further subdivided based on strength, it could be categorized into two levels: standard Ultimate-Class Devil and high-ranking Ultimate-Class Devil (Clan Heads).

For example, the ten-winged Fallen Angel, Kokabiel, was likely in the Maou-Class tier or falls between two categories of Ultimate-Class Devil.

Kokabiel's ultimate move, the giant spear of light, was powerful enough to destroy the entire town of Kuoh.

Even if the Mystic Eye of Distortion's was at its lowest power, it would still be at the strength of a Ultimate-Class Devil.

This power level could at least destroy a significant portion of Kuoh Town.

"At least in the early stages of the plot, this is more than enough," Mahiro concluded, satisfied with his reward.

Like the Mystic Eye of Death Perception, the Mystic Eye of Distortion was very powerful in actual combat.

Even in a world filled with mythical creatures and magic, the practicality of the Mystic Eye of Distortion was not much less than the Mystic Eye of Death Perception.

This was evident from the system's ratings: the Mystic Eye of Death Perception had an A rating, while the Mystic Eye of Distortion had a B rating.

"If I could get Alpha Stigma, that would be amazing," Mahiro thought. The Alpha Stigma, also from "The Legend of the Legendary Heroes," had the special ability to copy magic.

It could replicate the opponent's magic completely, even if the original casting was incomplete or interrupted.

The Mystic Eye of Distortion could absorb magic power and heal and enhance the body, nullifying most magic.

Combined with the Mystic Eye of Death Perception in melee combat, Mahiro would be a formidable opponent for any being.

Taking back his thoughts, Mahiro opened the character panel to check his stats.

Host: Mahiro Toma

Race: Human

Rating: Three Stars

Strength Assessment: Comprehensive strength can reach the level of a Middle-Class Devil.

Abilities: Basic Physique(E), Basic Swordsmanship (E), Intuition (D), Mystic Eye of Death Perception (A), Instant-Sword Slash (E), Mystic Eye of Distortion (Lino Doue) (B)

"Upgraded by one star?" Mahiro noted that his rating had increased, and a new skill, Mystic Eye of Distortion, had been added.

He was confident that he could fight even against a High-Class Devil like Rias with the Mystic Eye of Distortion.

If he could get close to her, he could defeat her. However, if Rias flew to the sky, he wouldn't be able to reach her.

"Temporary improvement levels don't count?" Mahiro guessed the system's rules. Although the Mystic Eye of Distortion could absorb and transform magic power, the improvement was temporary and only usable in battle.

Mahiro closed his eyes and then opened them abruptly. A red cross composed of twisted runes appeared in his eyes, looking strange and mysterious.

"My physical abilities have improved significantly," Mahiro observed. He dashed forward sharply, creating a gust of wind.

"My speed and strength have greatly improved," he concluded after testing the Mystic Eye of Distortion's abilities.

"Time to go back," he decided.

Having obtained and practiced his system rewards, there was no need for him to stay outside any longer.

...

The next day, at Kuoh Academy, inside the Occult Research Club's room in the old school building.

"Rias-sama, this is all the information you asked me to gather about Mahiro," a woman said, emerging from the magic circle and handing Rias a stack of documents.

"Thank you for your hard work," Rias said, taking the information.

"Then, Rias-sama, I'll take my leave," the woman said, bowing slightly before stepping onto the red magic circle and disappearing.

After the familiar left, Rias picked up the documents about Mahiro and slowly flipped through them. As she read, a smile slowly emerged on her face.
