HINATA SISTER: THE GLOW OF RISING MOON

Chapter 38: Chapter 37: The Keeper of the Abyss

The spiral staircase descended into an oppressive darkness that seemed to swallow the light of Elara's staff. The group moved cautiously, their footsteps echoing faintly against the cold stone walls.

Kael glanced at the others, his grip on his sword tightening. "Anyone else feel like we're walking into a trap?"

Lyra shot him a look. "When aren't we walking into a trap?"

Amara kept her focus on the pendant, its faint glow their only guide. "Stay sharp. If there's something waiting for us, we'll face it together."

---

The Abyssal Gate

The staircase ended abruptly, opening into a vast cavern illuminated by an eerie blue light. In the center stood a massive gate, its surface covered in intricate runes that seemed to shift and writhe.

Elara's eyes widened. "This is a summoning gate. The Whisperer must use it to bring her creations into the fortress."

Seris approached cautiously, her spear ready. "Then why is it just sitting here? Where's the guard?"

As if in response, the air grew heavy, and the ground trembled. From the shadows behind the gate, a figure emerged—a towering creature with a body of twisted, blackened metal and glowing blue veins. Its eyes burned like twin suns, and its jagged claws scraped against the stone as it moved.

"The Keeper of the Abyss," Elara whispered, her voice trembling. "It's a guardian bound to the gate. We can't proceed until it's defeated."

Kael grinned, despite the danger. "Finally, something to hit."

---

The Keeper Attacks

The Keeper let out a guttural roar, its voice shaking the cavern. It charged, moving with surprising speed for its massive size.

Kael met its charge head-on, his sword clashing against its claws. The impact sent him skidding back, but he held his ground.

Lyra darted around the creature, searching for weak points. "It's armor's too thick! We need to find a way to slow it down!"

Elara raised her staff, summoning a barrier of light to shield the group from the Keeper's next attack. "Amara, the pendant! Its light might weaken the creature!"

Amara nodded, stepping forward. She held up the pendant, its glow intensifying as she focused her energy. A beam of light struck the Keeper, forcing it to recoil with a pained roar.

---

Finding the Weakness

Seris circled the creature, her sharp eyes scanning its movements. "Its chest—there's a gap in the armor when it rears back to attack!"

Kael grinned. "Got it. Keep it distracted!"

As the others engaged the Keeper, Kael waited for his moment. When the creature reared back to strike, he lunged forward, driving his sword into the exposed gap.

The Keeper let out a deafening scream, its movements becoming erratic.

---

The Final Blow

The creature lashed out wildly, forcing the group to scatter. Amara raised the pendant again, pouring every ounce of her energy into its light. The beam struck the Keeper, its body glowing brighter and brighter until it finally collapsed in a heap of smoldering metal.

The cavern fell silent, save for the group's heavy breathing.

---

The Path Forward

Elara approached the gate, examining its runes. "The Keeper's defeat has weakened the gate's power. We can pass through now."

Lyra wiped sweat from her brow. "If that was just the guard, I'm not looking forward to what's next."

Amara stepped forward, her resolve hardening. "Whatever it is, we'll face it together. Let's move."

As they passed through the gate, the oppressive energy grew stronger, the whispers louder. The Whisperer's domain awaited.
