Chapter 34

You’re from a star.

What is commonly referred to as “Star from the Sky” belongs to the tree drama genre.

This means that the response to the first episode airing on Wednesday generally becomes apparent by Thursday.

The response to the second episode airing on Thursday reveals itself by Friday.

However, perhaps due to the overwhelming interest that the teaser, which was released only two days prior, had garnered with over 900,000 views, the curiosity about Ha-eun showcased at the end of the teaser began surfacing as early as Monday, before the airing of the first episode.

Of course, the interest in the two leading actors, Yoo Seong-ah and Ha Yoon-seong, was still robust.

However, the “bait” regarding the two had already been consumed through various promotional articles since the first shoot of “Star from the Sky.”

– Is it common for child actors to make such a significant entrance?
– They only had a substantial role in the last 10 seconds; what’s with the heavy impact talk?
– Just getting a solo shot at the end is already noteworthy for a short appearance, you clueless person.

– Kang Seon-woo saving Kim Ji-ah, even at the cost of a stabbing, was all for this moment.
– Wow, how far ahead were you looking?
– So far ahead that you still haven’t confirmed the next project after five years?
– Please stop filming commercials and lend me a movie or drama!

– What kind of child voice is as good as a voice actor?
– If you got goosebumps as soon as it went dark at the end of the teaser, leave a comment!
– I think the goosebumps were due to your face reflected on the monitor, right?
– Isn’t that a bit too harsh?
– I can’t deny that.

The only known information was that Ha-eun was playing the role of the young Han Yoo-hwa, but new “bait” surrounding her began circulating across various communities.

However, ultimately, the environment where Ha-eun could truly feel the attention directed at her was offline.

That is, at the elementary school Ha-eun was attending.

“Wait, is this kid really from our school?”
“If you don’t believe it, come see during break time.”

As soon as the first period on Monday ended, the classroom was briefly filled with commotion as about three kids rushed to Ha-eun’s class, looking for her.

The issue was that such incidents also occurred during the break between the second and third periods.

Similar happenings took place right after the fourth period ended and lunchtime began.

Still, since the level of commotion was somewhat manageable, Ha-eun tried her best to answer the various questions from the children who came to see her.

However, as always, Min Da-yeon, who was by Ha-eun’s side, chimed in.

“Hey, don’t you know it’s a point deduction if you enter another class?”
And mercilessly chased away most of the kids who came looking for Ha-eun out of the classroom.

The calm of the fourth class quickly returned after that.

For Min Da-yeon, who had been famous as an actress for quite some time, this was an experience she’d found tiresome over the past four years.

Thus, she believed that such bothersome situations should be stomped out right from the get-go.

“Hmm, but can’t we at least hear what they’re curious about?”
“Once you start listening, there’s no end. Absolutely not.”

Of course, Min Da-yeon had also replayed the teaser for “Star from the Sky” a few times like the other kids.

Yet, she hadn’t voiced her curiosity about “Star from the Sky” purely out of pride.

Previously, Ha-eun had appeared in a Doublie music video and the “Next Door Uncle” show, which were hardly of interest to elementary school kids.

For kids around Ha-eun’s age, Doublie was merely a funny uncle appearing on “[Don't Stop People]” and “[Infinite Challenge]“, while “Next Door Uncle” was rated for adult audiences, making it entirely off-limits.

Thanks to this, while Min Da-yeon had a rather loud school life filled with noise from the first grade, Ha-eun’s elementary school experience was relatively quiet.

In other words, within the elementary school, Min Da-yeon’s fame had literally overshadowed Ha-eun’s.

Of course, from Ha-eun’s perspective, it was rather good as she was living the ordinary school life she had long desired.

However, for Min Da-yeon, it was a time when she could flaunt her popularity and fame to Ha-eun.

Seeing Ha-eun’s name popping up here and there before the airing of “Star from the Sky” wasn’t a favorable sight for Min Da-yeon, who had considered Ha-eun a rival.

It felt like Ha-eun’s popularity was rapidly catching up to Min Da-yeon’s fame, which had soared high.

In other words, anxiety.

Or perhaps, jealousy.

‘… Such an annoying little brat.’

Until now, at least within the elementary school, Min Da-yeon had confidently been leading over Ha-eun.

While Ha-eun was to appear only for a few episodes as the young Han Yoo-hwa, Min Da-yeon was featured as a leading actress in a well-known daily drama.

Yet, just with the release of a single teaser, Ha-eun’s fame was already threatening to catch up to Min Da-yeon’s.

There were moments when it felt a bit unfair from Min Da-yeon’s perspective.

As time marched on, Min Da-yeon kept blocking the kids’ questions aimed at Ha-eun, and soon it was Thursday.

Meaning, the second episode where Ha-eun would appear for the first time as the young Han Yoo-hwa was going to air in just a few hours.

“Hey, Da-yeon. Are you going to watch ‘Star from the Sky’ later?”
Once again, without any ill intentions, Ha-eun casually asked because she simply wished for Min Da-yeon to watch her first drama.

However, the response that came back from Min Da-yeon, who had been pouting, was.

“…You didn’t watch my drama.”
Why should Min Da-yeon be the one to watch Ha-eun’s drama?

To be fair, Min Da-yeon’s drama aired at a time that made it difficult for Ha-eun to watch live due to her schedule.

Min Da-yeon was aware of this fact, which meant she also knew that what she just said was somewhat forced.

However, seconds later, the unexpected words from Ha-eun caught her entirely off guard.

“Um, I’ve been watching the reruns…”

“Huh? Really?”

Min Da-yeon’s previously frown-locked face quickly lit up, and without realizing it, she demanded Ha-eun’s opinion on her drama.

After hearing Ha-eun’s honest and fairly precise assessment.

“It’s at 9:30 PM… You will watch, right?”

Even Min Da-yeon, who tended to be self-centered, couldn’t dare to refuse such a plea.

In the end, she left the message to expect her to critique Ha-eun’s acting harshly, right down to the smallest details.

As time passed, the clock hit 9:30 PM.

Reluctantly sitting in front of the TV in the living room, Min Da-yeon turned to her father, who was amusingly watching a variety show rerun.

“Please hand me the remote; I need to watch something.”
“Huh, what…?”
“Quickly.”

Min Da-yeon rudely infringed upon the father’s right to change the TV channel and changed the channel, finally setting her sights on Ha-eun, transformed into a beautiful lady.

Of course, the Ha-eun Min Da-yeon knew continued just as she had always been.

“…What are you staring at?”
“No, it’s just that the redness in your ear looks just like berries. I just want to taste it once.”
“Y-yes?!”

“Ha ha, just kidding. No matter what, I wouldn’t do something so shameless.”

Because Ha-eun had shown nothing that Min Da-yeon could possibly critiqued.

Ultimately, she forgot her original goal of finding Ha-eun’s flaws and became entirely engrossed in “Star from the Sky.”

Eventually, as time flowed on, Friday morning arrived.

As expected, Ha-eun was subtly angling for Min Da-yeon’s review, eager for her thoughts.

However, seeing Ha-eun like that made Min Da-yeon rather reluctant to provide any kind of feedback.

As the second break approached, she decided to hold her tongue, using the excuse of needing to visit the restroom.

But, immediately after Min Da-yeon stepped out of the restroom,

The corridor was extremely noisy.

As she tiptoed to find out what had happened during her brief absence from the restroom, she overheard.

“Wow, it’s really Han Yoo-hwa!”
“What’s Yoon-seong oppa like in person? Does his face really glow and everything?”
“Hey, Lee Ha-eun! I’m posting on Facebook, so turn this way and give a V-sign!”

Only a flood of various interests and annoyances were solely targeted at Ha-eun, and this scene filled Min Da-yeon’s eyes.

The only fortunate thing was that today was the last day of the second semester, the winter vacation day.

That meant, if she could just get through today, there would be no chance for Ha-eun to be drowned in a crowd of kids for a while.

“Run, you fool!”

Min Da-yeon finally broke through the massive crowd and grabbed onto Ha-eun’s wrist, sprinting towards the exit.

The only thing left behind in the wake of so many kids was the fresh footprints imprinted on the snowy playground.

Finally, after reuniting with her manager Kim Jin-soo, who had been waiting at a café near the elementary school, Min Da-yeon caught her breath.

All the while, Ha-eun appeared as if she hadn’t even broken a sweat, making Min Da-yeon doubt whether she really ran at all.

“…We haven’t had our closing ceremony yet.”
“Is that really the issue?!”

Seeing Ha-eun sometimes act so oblivious in such confounding situations made Min Da-yeon sigh.

It was ridiculous to think a proper closing ceremony could go smoothly under such chaotic circumstances.

“I left my bag in the classroom.”
“Just go get it later!”

Min Da-yeon felt confident that if Ha-eun had stayed in that chaotic situation any longer, something would have definitely gone wrong.

Yet, the sight of Ha-eun, looking bewildered as if nothing were wrong, completely left Min Da-yeon speechless.

“If older students from fifth and sixth grades start coming over, it’ll really be a mess! You idiot!!!”

She shouted at the clueless fool who had no awareness of being a celebrity.
