Chapter 104: Hogwarts, Please Graduate Soon, Ch 64.1
As night deepened and silence fell, two roommates, brimming with excess energy, engaged in an animated discussion that lasted late into the night.
How to convince Snape to take over the Defense Against the Dark Arts class? After contemplating at least seven or eight different methods, they finally fell asleep, satisfied.
This gave Wayne the opportunity to check the constant notifications echoing in his mind all day.
After the badgers sent out the letters, the system panel displayed several notifications.
[Detected that the host is showing potential, allowing Hogwarts to experience the delightful chaos. System activation in progress.]
[Ding! Major event "The Power of Badger House" has been successfully set, and based on the event's influence and results, the final rewards have been comprehensively assessed.]
[Ding! Chain task "The Fallen Professor" is now activated, with rewards based on the extent of Quirrell's misery.] [Note: "The Power of Badger House" is the first major event to appear after the system upgrade, with the final reward multiplied by ten times. Host, please continue to put in effort to bring vibrancy to the dull world.]
Wayne had previously experienced what the system referred to as major events; most of his points had come from such occurrences. Not only were the points rewards substantial, but there were also the final event rewards to consider. Especially this time, the system generously offered a tenfold boost in rewards, which was certainly considerable.
However, Wayne was aware that Quirrell was unlikely to leave Hogwarts, which would reduce the overall rewards. Satisfied people are often the happiest, and the thought of regret quickly flickered through Wayne's mind before disappearing. A tenfold reward was still plenty for him.
The second task was also something akin to a gift, although in terms of the extent of Quirrell's misery, Wayne would still need to put in some effort.
After checking his points on the panel, he realized things weren't settled yet, as the event rewards hadn't been generated. But in just one day, his points had surged by over two thousand. And it was predictable that the influence would continue, allowing for additional gains the next day.
Wayne decided to hold on to the points for now and wait until all calculations were finalized before spending them. As he suspected, the event's impact was still brewing. His actions seemed to have triggered some peculiar switch.
In the morning, the Gryffindor common room was nearly empty, and Quirrell didn't show up in the Great Hall. It was said he had taken a sick leave. Later, when Snape confidently conducted two classes in Defense Against the Dark Arts, he was summoned to the headmaster's office shortly after noon, accompanied by Professor McGonagall.
Half an hour later, they emerged, both looking quite displeased. Professor McGonagall pulled a small vial of potion from her robe pocket and drank from it.
"Professor Snape, would you like some?"
"This was prepared by Pomfrey. Just drink a bit when you feel anxious or when your heart races."
"Thanks, but no," Snape promptly declined, replying in a low voice, "If you could manage those audacious fools, that would be more effective than any potion."
