Chapter 1045: A New Beginning (8)
During the month, Ivan travelled between the wizarding and the real world, in order to communicate with the large number of resources at his disposal, as well as politicians of great political influence.
During their last meeting with the International Confederation of Wizards, Ivan had learned that it was best to discuss important matters before they even began, or at least to agree with the bigwigs.
If you can't do it, you're bound to get nowhere in a meeting.
However, it was not an easy task to convince these titans, who wielded a great deal of power and resources, to do so with their heads held high. Fortunately, Ivan was not to be trifled with. With his Legilimency, there were almost no failures in his attempts at seduction.
After all, he had three decisive chips in his hand!
The first bargaining chip was naturally the potion that could turn Muggles into wizards, as well as the Elixir of Immortality!
The former represented power, especially after Ivan summoned a giant tornado to dry up a modern army in France, and the presidents and prime ministers who knew about it understood what magic was, and no one would refuse to become a wizard if they could.
Not to mention the effects of the Elixir of Immortality. The heads of the large corporations and political families were all very old. For them, the most important thing at the moment was to continue living. If they lost their lives, no amount of power or money would matter.
Of course, Ivan was not one to waste the power of the Philosopher's Stone, nor did he have a good opinion of plutocratic politicians. The Elixir of Immortality was merely bait that he deliberately let loose.
When his plan was successful, he would take back whatever these people had taken from him!
The second bargaining chip was Ivan's status as President of the International Confederation of Wizards, which allowed him to make decisions on behalf of the wizarding community.
In today's divided Muggle world, wizards are a reconstituted force with the ability to influence and interfere with the balance of power between nations.
Even though he was widely acknowledged to be the most powerful American in the world, he had to carefully consider every suggestion made by him as a co-chairman.
If all of these attempts failed, Ivan would have one last card up his sleeve: the ability to flip the table!
When it came to diehards who were greedy and bent on profiting more from him, Ivan would deal with them in an exclusive fashion. He would cast a Imperius Curse, then use Legilimency to alter a wave of memories.
However, this method could not be used often, as the Imperius Curse would wear off over time, and altering memories was not as reliable as one might think. The human heart would change, and he did not have the leisure to take care of so many people at once.
In addition, once the news that he had used the Imperius Curse to control these giants was exposed, it would definitely have a very bad impact and would hinder the plan.
"Why, are you not used to it?" Ivan, who had just "persuaded" a certain stubborn person, noticed that the few Aurors beside him were hesitant to speak.
Ivan didn't seem to mind, however, and asked with a smile, "Do you think I'm being a little too aggressive?"
A little too much… The wizards looked at each other with strange expressions. They had witnessed with their own eyes how Ivan had coerced the other into accepting his offer, and how he had even cast the Imperius Curse upon the other party after the negotiations had failed… They almost thought that the President of the National League was a Dark Wizard in disguise.
Ivan knew exactly what they were thinking and sighed. He knew that his actions would cause an unnecessary misunderstanding, so he patted them on the shoulder and earnestly explained to them what it meant to throw yourself into the darkness for the light.
They may have taken care of Grindelwald, but there is still a feud between wizards and Muggles, and if it is not resolved, there will be a second or third Grindelwald, and all he is doing now is trying to solve this problem once and for all…
"It will be like when I lead you to attack the French Ministry of Magic and capture Grindelwald. It will take at least three days for a meeting to be held and a search warrant to be obtained, and there is no guarantee that word will not get out, and if Grindelwald escapes and starts a war, there will be even more casualties…"
Under Ivan's constant persuasion… no, explanation, the wizards realised the President's good intentions and realised the need for illegal use of the Imperius Curse.
Ivan saw what they were thinking and nodded with satisfaction. He had too much on his plate, and he had sent Fran and the others all over the world to capture Grindelwald's followers. He needed to train a few trusted hotheads to work for him…
… .
A month passed in the blink of an eye, and the long-planned joint meeting of the worlds took place in the British Ministry of Magic.
Due to the fact that important matters had been discussed in advance, the early stages of the meeting were smooth sailing.
The major powers readily agreed to the proposal to strengthen bilateral cooperation. The combination of science and magic sounded promising and could even lead to an industrial revolution that could lead to a new technological explosion.
Not to mention the fact that Ivan was able to produce some results, such as a flying motorcycle, a Knight Bus, and other modifications, which proved that the combination of science and magic was entirely possible.
Some presidents, their minds occupied with arms and war, were already considering whether the Solidifying Levitation Charm on the Flying Motorcycle could be used on the aircraft to significantly reduce weight, consume less fuel, and load more explosives.
As for the lack of magical power and wizarding resources, Ivan believed that as long as new wizarding potions were developed, they would eventually be solved.
Until then, Ivan did not want the existence of wizards and wizards to be made public. Instead, he wanted to slowly release information to test the waters and prevent a large-scale conflict.
After the cooperation was generally settled, the negotiations over the contract became much more difficult. The negotiators brought by the Presidents and Prime Ministers of various countries did their best to fight for their own interests, and even abandoned the tacit agreement to join forces and pressure Ivan, the President of the League.
It took the entire meeting the better part of a month to finalise all the details…
When the meeting officially ended, the presidents who were walking out of the National League building with contracts in their hands had a bad feeling.
A new era is coming…
