Few minutes prior as they were driving toward the Ranch, Kate kept asking questions. Samuel was explaining her why and how it came to existence and also about the few horses that they took in mainly because of little brother.

Unfortunately, Kate wasn't able to meet him. He left the party early after greeting some of the important guests. He was after all a kid and hanging around adults getting drunk wasn't appealing to him.

The family arranged a specific place for them a little far away where he could play around with his friends. Normally they wouldn't be able to stay up late so by the time the issue with Kate was over, he already went to bed. He promised he would introduce her after the tour.

He then began explaining about the horses.

" I am just nervous." The panic was all over his face.

He started selling this fantasy like idea about them which at least calmed her down. Normally, she expected him to give her some direction what and what not to do. It would be much more plausible but he was making it sound like they were meeting cute puppies or something.

He parked the car after which Kate was able to see the place for the first time. If where they were living was remote, this place looked even more surrounded by woods. There was a huge stretch of flat lands where she could see few horses in the distance.

She was more surprised to see that the enclosure was wide open, a couple of horses were even outside it. She didn't know if they were not worried about them running away but Samuel explained that they were trained to return before sundown.

" I told you that they are smart kids. These people here are only there to take care of them after that they are free to do whatever they like. Sometimes they even come running down and wake me up in the morning. I am sure you will be seeing more of them in the future."

" I-i see." She didn't know anything about horses so she thought it was normal behaviour for trained ones. There was one question, wouldn't it be bad if they got attacked by wild animals? She remembered hearing faint wolves howls these past couple of days.

With how big this place was and it being surrounded by a vast forest, wouldn't it be same as living inside it with aggressive wild animals?

She was still looking around when Samuel yelled loudly garnering attention of those distant horses. They came galloping toward him with maximum speed enough to frighten Kate. She moved aside while he was being tackled to the ground.

Didn't he say they were good and well behaved? What's with this situation then? But with another yelled, they immediately stopped.

" No need to be afraid. They were just happy to see me. Come, I will introduce you to everyone." She was being dragged toward them while they snorted and smashed their legs on the ground. She feared that she would be trampled to death but surprisingly they started behaving.

So much so that she was able to touch their head and even give them pets like common animals. She especially liked the sister horses Moxie and Phoenix, they were so cute and pretty. Apparently they grew up a lot because he was showing her photos of them when they were cute little ponies!

" They really are cute- what's happening?" She heard a loud neigh and felt the ground vibrate. She wasn't able to react when Samuel who was standing beside her disappeared after a black flash waltz past her.

" Sjor! Calm down!" She heard some yelling and turned back to see, Samuel fighting with a massive black horse. It was several times larger than any horse she had ever seen with a towering figure and flowy long black hair covering the front and back of it.

She panicked and sought the help of other people when she saw them only smiling looking at their aggressive fight. It seemed like it was common. Strangely even when dealing with such a beast, Samuel was able to hold his own even when the horse raised it's humongous front legs to attack him.

He dodge for a while before hopping on top of it with a swift jump. Hugging it's neck, they started making round around the Ranch. It was fast, much faster than what she thought was possible. After few laps the horse came running toward her making a abrupt stop.

Samuel climbed down and asked," This is Sjor. She is a little moody because she wants me to visit everyday knowing that it's not possible. Come say hi." Kate hesitated for a while, the horse was twice her height looking down at her but strangely she didn't feel that it would harm her.

" It will not attack me right?"

" Pfff~ She doesn't attack anyone. What you saw earlier was her just greeting me, it's aggressive but she knows my limit and no one else seem to handle her because of her sheer size." He said with a chuckle. Kate felt like a idiot because she didn't know if he was trying to make fun of her or was there really such a weird way for people to greet their horses!

Nonetheless, she was tempted seeing those pristine black hair. It looked silky smooth even better than some of the woman's hair which went to show how much effort these people put in keeping her here. She especially wanted to touch it's fluffy tail, it was the longest tail she had ever seen as it almost reached all the way to the ground!

" o-okay." She reluctantly came closer to the horse. Seeing her hesitate, Samuel whispered something in Sjor head. Sjor took few step forward and lowered her head to nudge Kate's face. Kate couldn't do anything because she was scared but feeling it's hot breath on her face awoken her from petrification!
