"Icarus, can you reach Kiana now?"

"My lord, within this unit's signal interference range, no information about Miss Kiana was found."

"Tch! How much longer until we reach Uru Town?"

"At our current speed, it is estimated to take twelve more minutes."

"Initiate a second self-check of the armament system to ensure proper functionality."

"Yes, my lord."

In the howling cold wind, Zeke, wearing his pale blue narrow glasses, shifted gears once more. The electric motor propelled the tires with even greater ferocity, and the futuristic-looking motorcycle, longer than most private vehicles, raced like lightning under the rising sun.

"My lord, your speed is excessive, increasing the risks during turns and braking. I recommend promptly slowing down for safe driving."

"No need, I know what I'm doing," Zeke replied coldly.

Had he not considered the possibility of needing to make a hasty retreat from pursuing Honkai Beasts, he would have pushed the vehicle to its absolute limit, disregarding any potential damage.

Unable to persuade his master, Icarus silently proceeded to inspect the entire weapons system, including the twelve floating railguns soaring through the air behind the bike's exhaust trail.

On the other side, Kiana had lost count of how many times she darted through the swarm to rescue individuals.

Not every attempt ended successfully.

Several times, those she sought to save perished mid-rescue.

Meanwhile, her clothes were already beyond repair, covered with hastily wrapped bandages for staunching blood loss. Her movements, once fluid and effortless, had become strained and labored.

To reiterate, at this point in time, Kiana was merely twelve or thirteen years old—how much could one expect from someone so young?

Despite her limitations, she continued relentlessly rescuing people.

"Bang!"

"Crack!"

A single shot dispatched a flying Honkai Beast, but simultaneously, Kiana's gun shattered amidst mournful metallic cries, disintegrating into scattered fragments on the ground.

"Darn it! With such powerful bullets, couldn't they make the guns more durable?" Kiana grumbled, yet she understood that obtaining these specialized bullets was no easy feat. Crafting a firearm capable of withstanding Honkai Energy's impact was far from simple.

While complaining, Kiana didn't hesitate in action; swiftly, she caught the tusk of a two-meter-tall Honkai Beast with both hands.

"Ahhh!"

As the Honkai Beast bore down on her, Kiana roared defiantly, but she was still forced backward, her feet carving twin grooves into the ground. Strips of cloth wrapped around her arms began to darken with blood.

Finally, the Honkai Beast's momentum ran out completely. With a swift headbutt, Kiana staggered the massive creature and seized the opportunity to lift it off its feet.

Whump!

The beast tumbled over onto its back behind her, thrashing wildly as it attempted to regain its footing.

But how could Kiana let it have that chance?

Aiming at the beast's skull, harder than steel, Kiana raised both hands, unleashing relentless blows from her bloodied fists.

Crack! Crack! Crack!

Only when the Honkai Beast's head sank deep into the ground, its colossal body finally still, did Kiana pause, panting heavily.

She looked up, wiping away what might've been sweat or blood from her eyes, and yelled at the stunned survivor standing frozen nearby:

"What're you waiting for?! Keep running!"

"Yes!"

Three minutes later, after watching the rescued survivor head toward safety, Kiana leaned against a wall and sat down weakly.

With trembling, bloodied hands, she struggled to retrieve her last pistol and final magazine of regular ammunition from her backpack. She wiped her nose and muttered to herself,

"I've reached my limit already. Should be okay now, right? I can go report this without any issues, yeah? Dad, I think...I haven't brought shame upon the Kaslana name, have I?"

A liquid slid down her cheek, but Kiana lacked even the strength to discern if it was sweat or blood dripping from her forehead.

"Ah!"

At that moment, cries for help once again rang out nearby.

Kiana jolted, trying instantly to stand up, but her legs, already pushed beyond their limits, gave way. She collapsed face-first, tasting dirt in her mouth.

"Crap!"

Bracing herself against the wall, Kiana managed to rise and looked outside. A hundred meters away, two young girls were surrounded by a group of small Honkai Beasts, perilously close to meeting their demise.

She wanted to rush over and save them, but her body had reached its breaking point; there was no way she could make it in time.

Then, a black test tube appeared in her hand.

To inject or not to inject?

Zeke's warning echoed faintly in her mind.

Kiana hesitated for less than a second before decisively plunging the syringe into her neck.

"Ahhh!"

Agony surged through her body, as if every muscle and bone were being scorched by flames and shattered by hammers.

In the next moment, an unprecedented surge of power erupted within her limbs.

"Wait there—I'm coming to save you!" Kiana shouted, speeding toward the encircled girls like an arrow released from its bowstring at an incredible velocity.

A kick, a punch, a skull-crushing rifle butt strike.

Each movement flowed effortlessly, with unmatched speed and strength.

In no time, Kiana cleared the entire circle of enemies.

"You have two minutes and fifty seconds remaining, Miss. Please take the antidote promptly."

"You can keep track of that? Sure thing, just remind me when it's time."

After this brief exchange with Icarus, Kiana wasted no more words. With one girl under each arm, she burst forth like the wind, racing away before more Honkai Beasts could surround them.

"Two minutes and thirty seconds."

Kiana ran far but remained within the Honkai Beasts' territory.

"Two minutes exactly."

She reached a safe area and set both girls down gently.

"Run! Keep running to safety!"

Then she turned without hesitation and charged back toward the swarm of beasts.

I can save one more person before heading towards the city—just run as far as I can!

Unwilling to waste this precious time boost, Kiana swiftly darted through the horde, searching for survivors.

"One minute thirty seconds remaining."

Kiana carried two individuals on her back, one large and one small.

"One minute twenty seconds."

Another woman was now cradled under her arm.

"One minute left."

With five people—two on her back, three held with her arms—Kiana sprinted at full speed toward Yordle City.

"Thirty seconds."

The weight exceeded her expectations; Kiana hadn't yet escaped the reach of the beasts.

"Twenty seconds."

Still not clear.

"Ten seconds."

She managed to break free, but it was far from being truly safe.

"Five seconds!"

"A little over isn't too bad, right?!"

"Please administer the antidote promptly... Three... Two... One. Warning! Warning! Please inject the antidote immediately! Please inject the antidote immediately!"

Kiana glanced briefly behind her with the corner of her eye, gritted her teeth, and continued sprinting forward.

Her heart pounded deafeningly in her ears, and she felt an unusual burning sensation in her eyes. Kia even sensed that her nose might be bleeding uncontrollably.

But she couldn't stop.

If she halted now, the survivors she had just managed to rescue would instantly be swallowed by the beast horde again.

I can still manage! It's fine; I'm Kiana Kaslana after all! Just hold off on injecting the antidote for a bit longer! Suppressing her unease, Kiana ignored Icarus's repeated warnings and focused solely on charging ahead.

Until gradually, her consciousness began fading, darkness slowly engulfed her vision, and the buzzing in her ears suddenly quietened, leaving her unable to hear any additional sounds.

Yet, she kept running, ensuring not a single survivor slipped from her grasp.

Just a little faster...

A bit more distance...

Hang in there, almost done...

But how much longer was "almost"? As Kiana's mind grew increasingly blank, she could no longer answer. Numbly, her pace fluctuating between bursts of speed and slowing down, she persisted in her relentless run.

Finally, at one point, the people clinging to her began slipping off as she stumbled and fell forward.

Just then, the screech of tires skidding against pavement jolted Kiana out of her daze.

She felt a hand wrap around her waist, lifting her up.

When she focused her gaze, it was the familiar profile of the boy's face.

He wore peculiar blue glasses, his lips pressed together, expression cold and grim.

Yet in that moment, Kiana experienced an unprecedented sense of reassurance.

"Phew!"

As the antidote was injected into the back of her neck, Kiana didn't feel any pain; instead, the sensation of emptiness in her body seemed slightly alleviated, allowing her enough strength to speak. With a raspy voice that startled even herself, she said:

"Zeke, you made it."

"Shut up, I'll deal with you later."

"Be careful, there are Honkai Beasts ahead..."

"I'm well aware."

"I feel so sleepy..."

"Then take a nap. I brought cake and ice cream—what do you want first?"

"Both, please..." murmured Kiana, closing her eyes, likely drifting off to sleep.

Following her words, blinding laser beams pierced through the rampaging horde of Honkai Beasts.
