Chapter 46: Mei and Bronya Finally Arrive
The commotion at the door instantly attracted the attention of all three. Kiana and Fu Hua exchanged glances and remained silent.
For a time, only the noise from outside could be heard in the room.
Kiana quietly stood up and tiptoed closer to the door.
Even Shu couldn't help but feel nervous.
Although he knew that it was very likely Mei and Bronya behind the door, Shu still felt a slight palpitation looking at that closed door.
He had learned his lesson about opening doors!
Thinking of this, Shu subconsciously covered his arm. The injury from "before" seemed to still be aching.
The strange silence lasted for a while. Then, the noise outside suddenly vanished.
"Bronya… This door seems to be locked…" Mei's voice came from outside. Although it wasn't loud, it was especially clear in the quiet storage room.
"Mei?!" Kiana froze, her face filled with uncontainable joy. She quickly opened the door and dashed out. "Mei!!"
"Huh?" Outside, the two saw the tightly shut door suddenly open, and then a white blur rushed out and crashed into Mei. The gun in Bronya's hand was instantly aimed at the white-haired figure on top of Mei.
Almost at the same time, Kiana, whose face was inches from the gun, also became alert. She protected Mei with her hands, looking around like a startled kitten with frizzled fur.
Shu, who had followed Kiana, also froze the moment he saw this.
"Don't shoot!!"
"Bronya!"
Two urgent voices rang out in time. Bronya finally saw what had pounced on Mei, and her finger on the trigger relaxed.
"It's Kiana..." Bronya breathed a sigh of relief, glad that she had hesitated for a moment because she was afraid of accidentally injuring Mei.
Bronya could react to Kiana's speed, but Kiana and Mei were too close, so it had taken Bronya a moment to aim.
If it were anyone else, she would have fired immediately… there were always people who thought they could dodge bullets.
"Huh? Bronya! You're here too!" Kiana's gaze softened when she saw Bronya, and that pure and innocent expression returned.
"Hmm..." Bronya nodded expressionlessly, silently putting away her gun.
Kiana probably didn't see it…
"Mei" Seeing that the danger was gone, Kiana took a deep breath, buried her head in Mei's embrace, and started nuzzling her. "Mei I missed you so much~"
"Mei? And Bronya?" At this time, Fu Hua also limped to the entrance, looking at the two outside in surprise.
Although she already knew from the voices, Fu Hua was still surprised when she saw them.
Shu finally relaxed. The smile on his face returned.
"Mei, you must've been walking for a while now, right? Why don't you come in and rest?" Shu said with a smile as he stepped aside to clear the way.
Mei patted Kiana's back and said with a wry smile, "Alright, alright~ Let's go in, we can't keep everyone waiting."
Kiana nuzzled Mei a few more times. After taking a deep breath, she reluctantly got up, grabbed Mei and Bronya's hands, and ran into the storage room, "Hurry up! There are mats inside! They are comfortable to sit on!"
At the door, Shu and Fu Hua exchanged glances. Shu shrugged helplessly, smiled, and walked back inside.
Now that they had found Mei and Bronya, they could start planning their next move.
After Kiana and Mei caught up with each other, they would leave to look for medicine with Fu Hua.
Speaking of medicine, they might not have much time left.
Shu had just remembered that not only Fu Hua needed medicine, but Himeko was also seriously injured. And he had already spent most of the day here... Theresa must be so worried.
I hope Himeko's injury is not that bad… When we met, she was still able to get beer… It shouldn't… be serious?
Shu twitched his lips and sighed.
"Everyone, it seems like we don't have much time to reminisce." Shu walked over to Fu Hua and mercilessly interrupted their conversation. "We have more important things to do."
"Shouldn't we let Mei and Bronya rest?" Fu Hua paused and gave Shu a puzzled look.
It was you who asked them to come in and rest, and it hasn't even been a few minutes, why are you saying we should leave?
"Your leg can't wait." Shu glanced at Fu Hua's leg.
He didn't want to waste time explaining. Himeko was still waiting for medicine, so he decided to just state the facts and let Fu Hua explain the rest.
"Leg?" As expected, Mei's attention was immediately caught, and she quickly moved to Fu Hua's side. "Class monitor Fu Hua, what's wrong with your leg?"
Fu Hua laughed awkwardly, and subconsciously retracted her leg.
"Let's go, Mei, are you alright?" Shu packed his equipment and waited for Mei to check Fu Hua's injury before speaking.
"We're fine. But…" Mei shook her head but looked at Fu Hua with a worried expression.
"I'll carry Fu Hua. Let's go to the infirmary. The medicine is there," Shu said and then revealed the rope in his hands, seeing Fu Hua's puzzled gaze.
"Wait... you can't..." Fu Hua had a bad feeling watching Shu.
Shu smiled and then gave the rope to Kiana, "Come on, you're more skilled at this. Help me tie Fu Hua onto my back."
Kiana: "Huh? Oh, okay!"
Shu quickly worked with Kiana to secure Fu Hua on his back. But as he stood up, the strange and stiff feeling on his back gave Shu pause. He subconsciously looked at Mei.
He remembered… that he didn't feel like this when he carried Mei earlier…
It looks like the rumors are true… Shu had a deadpan expression. He wanted to laugh.
"Let's go." Shu instinctively started walking with steady steps and walked out of the door. "If you want to reminisce, we can on the way."
