House of Amarin

Codex Chapter – Reyra Amarin

Hi there, dear Readers! This is a test run of an idea I came up with, where I am going to write a chapter through the eyes of a historian, recording the events in the Realm of Meriath. I'm thinking of doing extra chapters on background pieces of information, bestiaries, biographies, etc. IF there is an interest in them! So take this as a testing ground for now. These kinds of chapters would not count towards the weekly schedule and are only for fun and detailing the background of the world!

It is written through the eyes of someone who lives in Meriath and it would be done in a way that he is only privy to knowledge that others could also have access to. Secrets and, plot points, mysteries will NOT be revealed here, so these are all spoiler free! I just don't want to fill out regular chapters with exposition after exposition so I came up with this idea!

These are only for fun and not mandatory for the main story, so if this is not your cup of tea, feel free to skip it! I'll try and always include a fun little codex-like image at the opening for you all if this catches on! Please note, that it will be a 4K image, so best viewed on a PC or Tablet, and feel free to open it in a new window for a better resolution!

Biography of Reyra Amarin

The Angel of Death

Spoiler
  • Name:

    • Reyra Amarin
  • Age:

    • Unknown1Her birthdate was classified by the House of Amarin. There was no answer to my official letter sent to the Respected House in question.
  • Species:

    • Human Female
  • Element(s):

    • Light2Decades old records already noted down she was primarily using it since her first appearance on the continent. and Darkness3Her first recorded usage of the Element of Darkness was in the event of the Destruction of the Firebird Guild.
  • Level:

    • 8th Tier - Magi Legendri4Confirmed at the Battle of Kesh. Her area of effect spell covered a 4 kilometers wide circle, and the measurements recorded by magic devices in the nearest City of Osaru proved the fluctuations of her mana to be at the 8th Tier.

There is little information on the origin of the current leader of the House of Amarin. What we can trace back from the outside is that her parents were part of the armed forces of the family.5Some information suggests that the House of Amarin has different branches, making it up internally. This is an unconfirmed assumption, as no family member ever acknowledged it publicly. When asked, it was verified by Reyra herself that their names are recorded in the Hall of Heroes6Each House is known to honor its decorated members' names yearly, especially those who fall in battle against the Undead., located in the family's main castle. From this alone, we can safely assume that the remaining House of Amarin members raised Reyra sometime after her parents' death. The first recorded appearance of Reyra Amarin happened in year 4M.277 when she won a tournament for 5th Tier mages while being only at the 4th Tier. Since then, her exploits were closely followed, and at 4M.293, she stepped into the Realm of Three Ri, cementing her position as the leader of House Amarin.

Major feats: 7These are only those notable achievements that your humble historian could track down and verify.

4M.277 - Winner of the annual "Festival Speciali" in the City State of Roshart. It was her first appearance outside of Amarin territory with a sweeping victory and open humiliation of the second-place mage after being accused of cheating. It was revealed she was only at the Adepti level while competing against multiple high-tier mages.

4M.279 - Formation of the Adventurer Group: Vanquisher. It is unclear how the members were recruited, but different witness testimonies confirm that they were already following Reyra Amarin by the time she formed the group.

4M.283 - Destruction of the Firebird Guild. Few records remain about the origin of the conflict.8Most clues point towards the almost fatal injury of the Vanquishers' second in command around this time. What we know for a certainty, is that the Firebird Guild, occupying a fort on Lake Tachati was obliterated by the Vanquishers. It was the first incident where Reyra Amarin wielded her second element: Darkness.9After the event, her nickname, Angel of Death started to circulate around the world. To this day she never denounced the name that has been her official title since 4M.300.

4M.285 - Deadly battle against the Undead at the foot of Mount Haleghern. It was the largest group of Undead horde detected since 3M.73310The devastation of Laar. 80 Undead soldiers led by a group of intelligent variants devoured a whole city, resulting in the House of Nerifit purging the region, turning it into a wasteland to prevent further Undead from rising up., numbering over a hundred creatures. Vanquishers held them back from spilling out from the belly of the mountain while the nearby city of Haleghernia was evacuated. After that, they fought them for two days before reinforcement arrived from local forces, Graduates11 Graduate is a common term for those who studied at the Institute of Eight Elements., and from the House of Amarin. The Vanquishers lost four members, ending Reyra Amarin's further travels on the continent, disappearing back into the territory of her House.

4M.291 - News broke of her marriage and the consequent birth of her first son, Razael Amarin.12There are rumors stating that she married a beast folk with a common heritage. Some sources indicate his name is Kawu, origin unknown, but if it is true, he was the second-in-command amongst the Vanquishers. None of her children display bestial traits, so the information is highly susceptible.

4M.293 - Rumored date of stepping through the threshold and achieving the 7th Tier, stepping into the realm of Three Ri.13This information has come from a leaked exchange of letters between the Institute of Eight Elements and a third party that is a trading partner of House Amarin. It is possible that it was leaked by the House itself as no punishments followed after the information traveled to the outside world.

4M.299 - Battle of Kesh. House Berison issued a call for help from the other Houses as they located 14 intelligent Undead warriors. Every house sent their strongest warriors and in the ensuing battle, Reyra Amarin managed to cast a 4-kilometer wide area of effect spell, showering the land with blades of light, weakening the Undead forces and bolstering their own. Her mana fluctuations were recorded and studying the papers and crystals, it was confirmed she was at the 8th Tier.14Only three people are known to be currently holding the title, Magi Legendri.

4M.305 - News broke of the second son of Reyra Amarin. He was named Lauron Amarin.

4M.311 - News broke of the third son of Reyra Amarin. He was named Solren Amarin.

4M.319 - The House of Amarin announces that Reyra Amarin has adopted a daughter, naming her Aurora Amarin.

4M.325 - News broke of the first daughter and also the fourth15Sometimes it is argued that she counts as the fifth child of hers. child of Reyra Amarin. She was named Lia Amarin.
