Abyss
Harry pov
"Welcome to death's domain harry"
Suddenly, Harry is face to face with a dementor, at least what looks like a dementor. But the being in front of him doesn't feel like a dementor, there is no unnatural cold or soul-sucking aura.
It feels like being in the presence of Death, as the owner of Deathly Hollows harry is quite familiar with Death's presence on his person. All three, the wand, the cloak and the stone have the same feeling to them but a lot less compared to the being in front of him. The voice too, the being in front of him may look like a soul-sucking demon but it spoke in a beautiful woman's voice.
"Yes, I am death harry" death spoke again confirming harry's thoughts.
"Where are we? and why am I here?, last I remember I was still alive and a long way from just dropping dead for no apparent reason," Harry asked.
"We are in the abyss, it is part of my domain but also not quite. You mortals came up with a lot of names for this place, like 'Purgatory' and whatnot but it's more like the in-between living world and my realm. As you harry are still alive I can't call you into my realm but we still needed to talk, so here we are in the abyss" Death explained.
Suddenly being summoned into the abyss by death itself should have bothered harry but somehow it hardly affected him at all.
"What do you want to talk about? I am sure it is something important right because death itself would not call a mere mortal here just for a casual chat" he asked while trying not to be bothered by the sharp contrast between the beautiful and mesmerising voice of death and its haunting appearance.
Harry heard what sounded like a chuckle but being that death's face looks like a whirlpool of darkness and void Harry can't be sure.
"We are here because of the mistake fate made on the night you got that scar on your forehead, you see death, fate, time and others can't directly interfere with mortal lives. Fate indirectly plays with you mortals through seers and prophecies etc, for example, a few vague words from a witch and the greatest dark lord dies at the hand of a baby by his own killing curse. But fate doesn't have any control over you mortals, if Tom Riddle had just ignored the prophecy he heard from snape, then he would have not died that day and that prophecy would have been added to the list of useless prophecies that didn't come true."
"But Voldemort did come that night to kill me and that prophecy did come true. I killed him just like it said I would." Harry interrupted.
"Yes you did, but that doesn't change the fact that Fate made a mistake. You see the prophecy was supposed to be over the movement it started, Tom Riddle was supposed to die that day and not just turn into a spirit clinging to the living world because of his unnatural creations. You see even I, death itself doesn't desecrate mortal souls by splitting them into pieces. But fate underestimated Tom's fear of death and didn't account for his little soul anchors." Death explained.
"If fate had just consulted with me before making the prophecy, I would have made sure that Tom Riddle died that night no matter how many soul anchors he had. But due to Fate's little error, everything went downhill from there, many who were supposed to die lived and many who were supposed to live died because of that. And we couldn't do anything because as I said we can't interfere in mortal lives. But that's not the worst part, the worse part was that due to the prophecy both you and Tom Riddle were linked by fate itself, which meant that Tom could only die by your hands and no one else. But with the type of childhood and life you were going through it seemed impossible for little harry potter to ever kill the powerful Tom Riddle. With your childhood, I was sure that harry potter would go insane or turn into a psychotic killer or both. But somehow even when the entire world was working against you, you harry potter defied all odds and overcame all of that and somehow kept your sanity intact."
"Ok, I get the fact that Fate made a mistake but from what you said it sounds like that I solved that problem when I completed the prophecy and killed Voldemort. Why are talking about this now when it happened more than two decades ago?" Harry asked.
Death nodded "we are talking about this because once again fate is going to make
you a plaything in its plans."
"What! How? you just said that fate can't directly interfere with mortal lives " Harry said with barely contained rage, he almost yelled at death itself.
"While that is true for most mortals, you are different from the rest. As a subject of the prophecy made by fate, you are considered as fate's champion, fate has a lot more sway in your life than the rest." Death answered.
While Harry can't be sure, with Death not having a face thing, but Death almost seems to be enjoying his plight. Harry can almost hear the glee in Death's voice when describing Harry's situation.
If harry was younger he would have gotten angry but now he just accepted his fate, he doesn't know if this is because he is more mature now or that he has just grown used to these ridiculous situations that life always throws at him for no apparent reason.
Harry sighed, "so what is this? just a head's up from Death before Fate once again wrecks my life."
"While enjoyable as that may be I actually brought you here to help you"
