Chapter 25: killing the basilisk and potion sickness(chapter 25)
Chapter 23
Grey's instincts screamed as he ducked low, the tail missing him by mere inches but shattering the stone wall behind him in a cascade of rubble. Grey groaned as he took out a speed potion, which he downed, increasing his speed before he darted forward, moving with blinding speed, the potion amplifying every muscle in his body. He sidestepped another strike, his feet barely touching the ground as he closed the distance between himself and the giant snake.

The Basilisk responded by unleashing a deafening hiss, its mouth opening wide as it lunged forward to bite again, rows of dagger-sized fangs glistening with venom. But Grey, already in motion, dodged once more, though his arm was sliced by the venom-impregnated fang. He didn't stop, aiming a brutal punch at its lower jaw. The impact sent a shockwave up his arm, making it numb, but the creature recoiled, its head snapping back from the force.
Grey didn't let up. "Alright, you fucker," he said aloud as he took out another potion, a troll's might potion. It wasn't made from the same troll he killed in the first year but one he purchased as an ingredient. He drank the potion, increasing his strength again as he rushed in, driving his fist into the creature's body. His blows landed with a force powerful enough to make the Basilisk hiss in pain. He didn't stop with one punch; he continued to hammer the creature. Every punch caused the serpent's massive body to shudder, sending shockwaves rippling through the ground. Cracks spider-webbed across the stone floor with each impact.
The Basilisk hissed in frustration, coiling its body around him in an instant, in a bid to crush him with its immense weight. Grey felt the pressure close in, the strength of the serpent threatening to crush his bones. But he flexed every muscle in his body, the troll's might potion flowing through him, enhancing his already considerable strength. With a roar, Grey forced the coils apart, breaking free from the creature's grasp.
The walls shook as the Basilisk smashed its body against the stone, missing Grey by a hair's breadth. Grey leapt onto the creature's back, using the momentum to launch himself toward its head once more.
"Oh, I can already imagine what I can make with your body parts," he growled under his breath as he grabbed hold of one of the snake's massive fangs. His feet planted on its snout as he twisted with all his might, yanking the tooth free. The Basilisk shrieked, its body writhing in agony, tail thrashing wildly.
Using the fang as a weapon, Grey stabbed downward with ruthless precision, aiming for the soft tissue beneath the serpent's jaw. The fang pierced the flesh, blood spurting from the wound as the Basilisk let out a howl of rage.
The creature's movements became more erratic as it flung itself around the chamber, crashing into walls and sending debris flying in all directions. Grey clung to the beast, determined not to be thrown off. He drove the fang deeper with every strike, his blows fueled by the sleepless nights he had endured, the arcane power surging through his veins. The chamber shook with every impact. Pillars crumbled, the ceiling began to cave in, and the floor was littered with chunks of stone and debris. Dust filled the air, thick and choking, but Grey didn't stop. His focus was absolute.
With one final, powerful thrust, Grey drove the fang through the Basilisk's skull, shattering bone and piercing through the brain. The giant serpent convulsed violently, its body thrashing in its death throes. The ground beneath them quaked as the creature's immense form collapsed, its head smashing into the floor with a thunderous crash that reverberated throughout the chamber.
Breathing heavily, Grey stepped back, watching as the life drained from the Basilisk's massive form.
Grey wiped the sweat from his brow, his body still humming with energy from the potions. He glanced at his shoulder, which had visible black veins. "Hmm," he muttered, not worried as he consumed the anti-venom he had also prepared. He then glanced at Ginny, who stood frozen in place, eyes wide with shock as the connection between her and the Basilisk broke. "Unfortunate for you," Grey muttered, sheathing the now-bloodied Basilisk fang.
"I'm no ordinary second-year." He speed-blitzed toward her and took the notebook, causing her to immediately lose consciousness. With a sigh, he held the book, hearing a faint whisper of a young man's voice, telling him to kill all Muggles. "As I thought, you were being possessed," Grey sighed as he instantly emptied his mind, making the whispering sound vanish. "Good thing I learned Occlumency," Grey chuckled as he took out his cane, which vibrated unhappily.
"Why, are you mad I didn't use you?" he chuckled as he cast the repairing charm, restoring the room. He then consumed another troll's might potion, further increasing his strength. "This is intoxicating," he smiled as he grabbed the Basilisk by the tail and threw it down into the chamber it came from. "I'll come back for you in a minute, but in the meantime," he turned toward Ginny Weasley, but before he could take another step, blood flowed from his nose as he fell to his knees. "Wha-" he couldn't even finish his sentence as his vision blurred, and his thoughts became hazy. But that wasn't the end of it—his muscles, bulged up from the potion consumption, started to shake and vibrate, aching painfully. "Fuck, what is happening?" he thought to himself, trying to regain some sense. After a few minutes, his vision returned, but his muscles were still aching.
"What is happening?" he asked himself as he checked his body. He then took out a high-grade Wiggenweld potion, but just the thought of consuming it made his body gag. He finally got the point, "Fuck, what is this? Potion sickness?" He had never heard of such a thing, but his body was refusing to consume another potion and was literally gagging, so he stopped himself. He forced himself to carry Ginny Weasley out of the chamber and into a different part of Hogwarts, making sure no one saw him. He then returned to his suitcase, still suffering from the potion sickness, before jumping back down into the Chamber of Secrets to dissect the Basilisk before the professors discovered what was going on.
[ 2 month later ]
The Chamber of Secrets loomed around the group, dark and foreboding. The walls were slick with moisture, centuries of condensation dripping into the ancient pool at the base of Salazar Slytherin's stone monument. Pale green light filtered through cracks in the stone, casting eerie shadows across the room, which smelled of damp stone and something more metallic—a faint, lingering scent of blood.
The professors, led by Headmaster Albus Dumbledore, entered cautiously, their eyes scanning the scene. The chamber was vast, the echo of their footsteps bouncing back from the distant corners. Every detail of the legendary chamber seemed both awe-inspiring and dreadful, with serpentine carvings winding up the pillars and the massive stone head of Slytherin himself staring down upon them.
