HP – Shadow Monarch!

Chapter 56 – Father.

[Chapter Size: 2100 Words.]
Third Person POV

Cokeworth.

...

...

Snape approached the door of his house and didn't even bother to knock before using a spell to open it and enter, without a wand to avoid alerting the Ministry of Magic.

He saw how his father continued to mess up the place, lying on the living room couch with a bottle of cheap whiskey fallen near him, part of the liquid on the floor; it was a quite depressing scene, but Snape was not surprised by the memories of this man. He even maintained a disdain as he climbed the stairs of the old house heading to his room, which was locked, and Snape entered the place where he had spent his entire life.

It was a poor little corner, to say the least, disheveled; the walls creaked with the evening wind, while there was a small bed and a desk where Snape spent his time working on his cauldron, when his father wasn't complaining about the horrible smell of his potions.

He approached the place, noticing that nothing had been touched while he was away. There were some Muggle books on a shelf suspended on the wall and a drawing he had almost forgotten, which Lily had drawn.

"This place really needs a renovation..." Snape murmured and approached the bed while pushing it from one side to the other, revealing the floor beneath it to Snape, who approached and crouched on that floorboard, where there was a loose piece, with a small hole between the floor that divided the rooms, and upon removing it, there was a slightly worn book in it.

"It's here..." Snape murmured, reading the title of the book he had started writing since last year, he had signed this book as "Notes and Discoveries of the Half-Blood Prince".

He thought about changing the name later; it was a book of discoveries and notes that he had created with information about his discoveries in the field of potions with tips and easier ways to create potions, besides this there were spells that Snape was creating, some common and useful others so dangerous that it would put a person in a very torturous situation, but they were not ready yet, Snape wanted to create them precisely to use them on the Marauders, something quite dark.

But the current Snape just looked at this, "If we are going to write spells, then let's make really powerful spells..." Snape commented, thinking about his next plans.

He put the bed back in place after closing the spot that hid his book, and stored it in his pocket; his only goal here was to retrieve it, after all, there were some things that Snape wrote and erased his memories due to his existential conflict thanks to the loss of his friend. He looked at the sheet that Lily drew of two dolls under a tree and cast a small incendiary spell without a wand.

"Snape, you have to stop these things, and forget this girl, for God's sake..." Snape murmured to himself and his gaze returned to the door, as footsteps approached him.

"You're here!" The man spoke with a severe and hoarse tone.

"You're drunk, as always." Snape mocked.

"What did you say, brat. Where have you been these past months?!" He asked, after all, Snape hadn't come home after the school year had ended, while he spent time on the other side of the country training.

"Do you care about that?" Snape asked the man, who immediately got angry at Snape's curt response.

"What did you say, brat, you think I won't hit you because you look a bit different?" He spoke, taking a few steps; he noticed that his son was different, maybe taller, but still could not reason out the difference due to the drunken state he was in at the moment.

"You have to think very carefully before attacking a wizard." Snape raised an eyebrow at the man.

"You've never used magic, you freak." He mocked, knowing that Snape had never used magic against him, even though he had been beaten by this man numerous times.

"Maybe I don't need magic." Snape looked at him with a gleam of challenge, he himself wanted him to take another step and would finally put this man in his place.

"You are a monster like your mother was! That damned woman who must be in hell!!" he exclaimed, lunging with his hand at Snape, who easily caught it.

"Ah!" The man let out a small cry of pain as he felt his hand easily twisted by Snape's grip, Snape looking at him with anger.

"What do you think you're... HM!" He couldn't finish before Snape delivered a punch so strong that he could hear some sounds of bones as it hit the middle of his father's chest.

The man flew while Snape's door was facing the staircase, the man flew to the other side of the wall, falling in the middle of the stairs before rolling down, exclaiming with pain, and Snape could hear him groaning below.

"That bastard... how dare he sully his mouth to talk about her?!" Snape murmured, letting the feelings from those memories of this boy's life take over him.

He stayed there for a while, continuing to hear the man groaning below. Snape was thinking about what he had done for a moment; after all, he really hadn't lived through any of that, but still, the memories were vivid in his mind. His mother was a loving woman, but his father mistreated her, and it continued happening and worsening until he beat her so much that she died when he was 9 years old.

It was a shock for Snape; from that moment, his father began to throw his frustrations and anger he had for his mother at him, saying he was as much a monster as she was. Snape was beaten constantly and all these times in silence, while he had never raised a wand against him, as he could be expelled from Hogwarts and thrown into Azkaban, but what frustrated the current Snape most was that the old Snape didn't want to stay away from Lily.

"The Half-Blood Prince was really a pitiful person, he was beaten at school, bullied at school, was constantly treated like a servant among the pure-blood wizards and was trash in the eyes of his house. Not to mention he had a romantic illusion, one that he clung to as his light in life and because of the betrayal of this very person to my current eyes, he killed himself..." The current Snape finally understood why Snape had chosen to end his life.

"But this is strange..." Snape couldn't help but notice something thinking about the life of the old Snape. "It's been over 7 years since Eileen Prince was killed, why does this man increase his anger towards someone dead after all these years...?" Snape murmured, there was something very wrong there.

"This man wasn't like this... He was even a good father when Snape was 3 or 4 years old, but each year that passed... he got worse with his mother, every year..." Snape continued thinking. "Every year, he continues to grow more hateful towards his mother... Even after her death." Snape looked toward the sound of the man still groaning and went there.

Snape went down the stairs and saw the man fallen on the ground rolling from side to side, likely in severe pain from the blow he had suffered. "Snape!! You monster!" The man began to scream as soon as he saw Snape approaching. "I'm going to tell the magic agents, you're fucked Snape, do you hear me?" He exclaimed still as Snape approached.

"..." Snape said nothing and simply kicked him on the ground, making the man fly screaming while exploding the dining table with him falling groaning.

"Say what you want to them, I don't care while this..." Snape mocked, not caring about simply beating his own father, he had no good feelings towards him, he went to the destroyed place and grabbed a knife and held Tobias Snape's hand, before making a cut on it.

"What are you doing?!" The man glanced seeing Snape cut his hand before putting blood in a strange vial.

"You're drunk enough to not feel pain, so don't complain, you miserable man." Snape said watching his father's blood fill the vial.

"You freak!" He said, and Snape, unable to stand that man screaming any longer, slapped his face, making him fall unconscious the next moment.

"This is much better, but I'm done here..." Snape stood up and looked out the window. It was getting dark, so he decided to spend the night in his old bed.

He ate something before leaving and lay down in the bed to finally sleep. "I'm going to find out whatever is in that blood... something is wrong..." Snape murmured, looking up at the ceiling. His father seemed to hate his mother more with each passing year, while Eileen Prince, on the contrary, seemed even more a woman in love each year, no matter how this man behaved.

"I have a feeling they were both under a spell or even the effect of a potion..." This Snape quickly noticed things that the last one didn't, and he would find out who was behind it.

"To start, there's no reason why a woman like Eileen, a pureblood from a prominent family, would fall for a commoner. I know I was born because of it, but I have to be realistic..." Snape murmured, thinking about this mystery, but soon set it aside and went to sleep.

The next morning he woke up and left his room to find his father still lying in the middle of the destroyed table. He went out to train, performing his daily exercises until he was satisfied, and returned home. He took a shower, unable to use magic there, dried off, and finally was ready to leave that house.

He gathered his things and descended the stairs. "Snape...! You bastard, what did you do to me! Get me out of here!" the man ordered, still lying there.

"Come on, you don't need help from a freak like me, call the Muggle emergency services..." Snape mocked and headed towards the door, ignoring the man screaming his name.

He walked the streets until he found a forest after entering some trees. He wanted to find a large tree in the middle of a hill and was surprised when he found two people nearby, as if they were a couple. One of them he knew very well.

"Vernon, you know I love chocolate... if you want to give me some. I'd love it!" the skinny girl said to the awkward boy.

"Of course, Petunia. I'll do everything to please you!" the somewhat chubby boy said as they leaned their heads against each other.

Snape approached, not caring what they were doing there, as he wanted something from that tree and did not care about Lily's sister.

The girl heard footsteps and lifted her head from her boyfriend's in surprise, her eyes widening as she saw Snape approaching. "You!!" She recognized him and screamed while hiding behind the boy.

"Who is this, Petunia?!" the chubby boy said, trying to muster courage by standing in front of Snape, but Snape was much taller and stronger, looking far more dangerous than the boys who bullied him at school.

"He's a freak like my sister!!" Petunia exclaimed, as Vernon raised his fists to a Snape raising an eyebrow at this.

"If you come any closer... I swear I'll hit you!" he exclaimed.

Snape looked at him for a while, and his eyes began to glow. "Leave here, otherwise, you'll regret it," Snape said in a dangerous tone.

This immediately made the two scream in fear and run away. Snape watched them and sighed. He went to the tree and crouched at one of the entrances before picking up a small box hidden there. Lily and Snape used to spend their time together there.

Snape nodded, satisfied, and left the area, catching a new bus and heading straight to Diagon Alley, passing through the crowd and using a new Floo powder. It was late afternoon when he finally returned to school after spending the whole weekend away from Hogwarts.
